Brands need to also be simple, clean and consistent on social media. Utilizing new features like Facebook Live by putting out relevant and interesting visual content helps engage with the consumer and increase interactions & affinity with the brand.

    Ganga Ganapathi, VP & Head of office – Soho Square (A division of Ogilvy ) in this podcast shares with us the views on storytelling, change in advertising as well as importance of various new media platforms. Story telling is vital and way you disseminate the content is the same but how you do it, especially with today’s pressure to engage the audience has most definitely changed. Social Media doesn’t always work, but that shouldn’t stop one more using it. It is important to experiment on these new age platforms to see what works for you. Just because some new technology/ platform like bots, snapchat, etc are the ‘IN’ things brands don’t need to jump on it. Brands needs to address if leveraging these medium is helpful for the brands in the first place. It’s important to understand and address which channel does the brand needs to be on. One needs to keep exploring the evolving social media. With new technology progressing things like videos, Virtual Reality, wearables, etc… Social media will be more & more interactive over the years.

    2. The steps to find an authentic influencers are:

    a. Topic – Identify which topic, subject or geographical area do you want to

    concentrate on.

    b. Search – Use at least 3 different tools to find the ideal influencer. Tools like

    Buzzsumo, Grouphigh, Traackr, etc.

    c. Validate –Research what topics they cover, are they subject matter experts, their

    followers, etc.

    d. Correlate –compare them and understand which one suits best for your brand.

    e. Engage – Speak to influencer about their values and how they correlate to your values and build a relationship with them.
