  • #40 - Dipsauzen met Samora Bergtop & Ellen Tjon A Meeuw van Well Made Productions

Hey lovely peoples! 🎊🍾WHOOP WHOOP 🎊🍾. #WatchThisSpace

Onze gasten voor aflevering 40 (say what now!!) zijn Samora Bergtop en Ellen Tjon A Meeuw die samen het theaterproductie bedrijf Well Made Productions hebben opgericht. 💯 #BlackOwned ✊🏽.

  • #39 - 🇬🇧 Getting Uncivilised. Live Show with Chenjerai Kumanyika.

An all English Episode | We had the pleasure of hosting a live show Chenjerai Kumanyika, a Peabody Award winning co-executive producer and co-host of Uncivil Podcast. Chenjerai is an activist, a researcher, journalist, an artist who works as an assistant professor at Rutgers University’s Department of Journalism and Media Studies. He was invited to Amsterdam to give a keynote speech at the annual Oorzaken (Podcast) Festival.

For the ol skool listeners he was the founding members of the rap group The Spooks who were active in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Even Mariam recognised Things I've Seen! We discuss the genealogy & politics of our names, being the only or few black people ☠ at Podcast events & festivals even in the U.S.A...😱🤯, how he ended up in the world of podcasting and what he likes the most about it, how podcasting has disrupted US media and why we (Dipsaus) decided to turn our backs on the public broadcasting & podcasting world in the Netherlands.

We also subjected him to our recurring segments: the BBBBBBBBBBBBs as well as our DDDs... Chenjerai recommends reading Heavy: An American Memoir by Kiese Laymon, Mariam recommends watching Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Ebissé recommends binging on the Netflix Series Turn Up Charlie starring her Mancrush All Day Every Day. 😍🤪

  • Bonus - 🇬🇧 Black Togetherness: Fiction & Myths of Black Womxnhood

    An all English Episode

In the context of the project/exhibition Diasporic Self: Black Togetherness as Lingua Franca, Framer Framed hosts the event Diasporic Self: Caring as Lingua Franca – Fiction & Myths of Black Womxnhood on Saturday 2 February, in collaboration with Dipsaus Podcast.

Caring as Lingua Franca – Fiction & Myths of Black Womxnhood looks into the historical and contemporary ways Black Womxnhood is fictively constructed and mystified. To think through Black Togetherness in the context of #FORTEU is to carefully sit with the realities, agency and genealogy of Black womxn and their existence in contemporary Europe. What are the myths? What is the fiction that moulds, produces and reshapes these relations across communities in the Diaspora?

Amal Alhaag invited us, Ebissé Rouw, Mariam El Maslouhi and honourary Dipsauser Olave Nduwanje to talk about the myths of blackness within the different African cultures and the communities we grew up in, the myths of blackness in realtion to literature and the myths of unbreakable Black Motherhood. Amal also invited the audience to join in the conversation and share their thoughts on this subject and what was discussed.

Imagery that was mentioned during the show:

    • Mariam shared a video of traditional dance by black Moroccan women from Tata.
    • Ebissé's pinterest of different book covers of Nervous Conditions.
    • Olave shared pictures of the beautiful princess Emma Bakayishonga of Rwanda.

  • #37 - Influencer & Beauty-Entrepreneur Angela 'Curlbellaa' Onuoha in da house!

Onze gast extraordinaire is niemand minder dan hair and skin care social media vlogger en influencer Curebellaa a.k.a. Angela Onuoha (o-no-ha).

Half Nigeriaans 🇳🇬, half Hollands🇳🇱, made in Almere!

Listen. Learn and be your beautiful self!

  • Bonus - 🇬🇧 Live Show in Vooruit with Kopano Maroga & Black Speaks Back

An all English episode to your earbuds! This was our first live show abroad, all the way in... Gent, Belgium!

Dipsaus Podcast was part of the festival "Women and Children First" in Vooruit. We talked to Kopano Maroga and the ladies Heleen Debeucklaere and Emma-Lee Amponsah of our sister vlog Black Speaks Back. Kopano is a South African artist who had choice words to say about the South African elections and brought an amazing analysis about what decolonisation entails. Heleen and Emma-Lee started Black Speaks Back, a grass-root organisation reclaiming the diverse black narratives in Belgium. They told us more about the struggles in Belgium politically and socially.

Even Mariam got burnt a bit for not calling on the phone but preferring voicenotes and texting. We also talked about how we cannot speak of decolonisation without reparations, about colonial Europe, solidarity, White Walkers and there was lots of laughter and love...🖤
