Caught between vampires and zombies, all hell's gonna break loose - literally! How far would YOU go to save humanity? "A knockout first book, very unpredictable. An exciting, new angle on a well-loved genre." - T.Teodorczuk, Evening Standard, London. Sometimes you gotta pick a side. Sometimes you don't get a choice! "This is not my normal genre, yet I found myself utterly engrossed. I was done in 2 days." - Elise L - Amazon.co.uk customer. In an uncertain world only one thing is for sure - there WILL be blood! "A cracking book, a must read for any fans of the zombie/vampire genre." - Rob H. - Amazon customer. A gripping novel that sees a group of survivors in a post-apocalyptic landscape struggle against the crazed infected. Marked for death by vampires, they must decide how far they are willing to go to survive. Ultimately, is the enemy of my enemy my friend? Or should I totally annihilate them both?A cure for dementia has disastrously failed. Patients are left crazed, infectious and enraged. The ensuing carnage quickly spreads the disease and civilisation is decimated. On London's outskirts a military base shelters some survivors. The soldiers within must battle against the infected who now roam unchallenged. Tensions are high, relationships fraught, death commonplace. But if they thought the end of the world was bad enough, their troubles have only just begun. An ancient menace has long existed in secret alongside humanity - a vampire clan, which has recently encountered the soldiers. Now is their time to emerge from the shadows. First though they have to overcome their own problems. They too have to fight for survival against the infected, and they violently disagree on their approach towards the humans. Hostilities are rising. It's only a matter of time now... First in a trilogy of post-apocalyptic page-turners like nothing you've read before, with a level of realism that is second to none. Prepare to be infected! TV adaptation imminent.

A drudgery to read through a great concept.
This story is in desperate need of a machete. No, not because it's great for hacking up zombies, but because there's that much that needs to be cut out, chopped up, or otherwise mutilated.
The story itself is great, and would be a five-star story in a heartbeat, except EVERYTHING and EVERYONE gets a full background before anything can happen. Here's the wife of so-and-so. Hair, height, age, background, how she happened to be here, why it's unusual. A couple pages of material. Oops! Her throat got ripped out. Next character!
Every single character gets a detailed bio before they're allowed to do much of anything. Large portions of the information are simply unneeded, because a character will be dead in a few moments. Other sections could be more effectively revealed in bits and pieces as they became relevant. The unfortunate, overall effect, is that you have a wonderful concept that should be filled with action and tension that instead slows down to a snail's pace as you try to read it. Unfortunately, I finally had to give up.
This to me is the best book read in the last years
Divinely plotted, mysterious, edgy, atmospheric and intricated. This to me is the best book read in the last years.
