Here the multitalented Miranda Richardson performs the stories of seven operas: Mozart's "The Magic Flute," Britton's "The Little Sweep," Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel," Wagner's "The Flying Dutchman," Rossini's "La Cenerentola," Gluck's "Orpheus ed Euridice," and Rimsky-Korsakov's "Christmas Eve." It would be nice to have Shahrukh Husain's print book to go along with this, as well as some other opera-related references and photos, if possible. Overall, a valuable addition to classical music education.

Charming!

I listened to this with my oldest son in the car, and we were enchanted with the narration by Scott Sowers of this charming and fun story. We loved the clever way that the characters expressed themselves. We have been quoting this book all week! It reminded us both of the Soup books by Robert Newton Peck. I would love to listen to more small adventures for Popeye!

Funny, a delight

My kids and I have listened to this story several times. I admit that in the fist five minutes I had doubts, and suggested we move on to something else. They protested, and were right. It is a funny, wonderful, and unexpected story.

What did you love best about Cyril Bonhamy and the Great Drain Robbery?

Our whole family loved Hugh Laurie's narration. He made this a fun listen by making best of the accents and exagerating the silliness of the story with his expressive performance.

What did you like best about this story?

It's a very silly story filled with physical comedy - perfect to keep our kids aged 6 and 8 entertained on a drive to a holiday destination.

What does Hugh Laurie bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

A performer like Laurie was needed to make best of the physical comedy parts!

I wish there were more kids' books read by Laurie available on Audible.

Brilliantly told and enjoyable for all the family!

I listened to this story with my family as a child when we used to drive to Spain and back every year. I loved it then and my kids and I love it now. Its funny characters and clever story read brilliantly by Hugh Laurie take you on a hilarious, imaginative and unexpected adventure through France. One that the whole family can enjoy. Its a timeless family favourite that has lived through two generations in our household.

We thoroughly enjoyed this book. Hugh Laurie brings the incompetent Cyril to life in a way only he can. The story is quite ridiculous but in a funny and entertaining way - think Inspector Clouseau but for children.
