Don't cause a stink

I guarantee that kids will love the subject of this book. Kids love gross, kids love lists and trivia and kids love to say ..... yewwwwwww!!!! There are many opportunities in this book to be grossed out but also many opportunities too learn interesting facts regarding sanitation in our modern day world. The curious mind of a child will be fulfilled for sure.

Your child will learn about pooper-scoopers, port-a-potties, sewers and landfills. Can you imagine being hired to be the poor person who was handed a rake and asked to do the work of our now modern garbage trucks? Did you know that toilet paper was first used by Chinese emperors and in this modern day and age the average person uses almost twenty-one thousand sheets of toilet paper a year? Who knew such interesting facts? Not me. The book is sprinkled with colourful photos with added information highlighted on each page. The design is savvy and modern, sure to appeal to kids.

I had never heard of a "garderobe". Have you? It is a medieval toilet attached to the outside of the palace where royalty went to do their business. Their human waste was expelled and dropped down into the moat.....now that method stinks for sure! Thank goodness we have come a long way from that toilet experience. I recommend this book highly, not only for its information, but also for its entertainment component. I love odd stories that give me a history of the inventions that we take for granted and use every day and I am sure your kids will too. An added bonus is the glossary and index section that gives you even more insight into these fabulous inventions that make our life so much easier and sanitary. So glad smart inventors allowed us to clean up our act! Fresh is best!

Kids Will Love It

I don't normally enjoy literal bathroom reading. Things that involve poop are not up my alley. I do like nonfiction books that tell interesting facts though, and I knew this book would be a good one for many patrons at the library. I was right. I can foresee this checking out a lot.

On each spread there is one page with a large amount of text and the following page with pictures and some key facts pulled out. This gives kids something to look at, they get the main points, and they can read deeper into the subjects. We learn about where people "went" before there was indoor plumbing, why we need sanitation, and some information about trash in general. Any nonfiction children's book that is quick to read and still teaches me fun information is a good one.

Poor imitation

This is by Pamela Cox and not Enid Blyton - and it shows. The names are the same but the characters in this book are so different from Enid Blyton's creation. In my opinion, the values that Enid Blyton managed to imbibe through the characters and stories in this series are completely lost. The scenes seem contrived. This book is a very poor imitation. The author I feel did not do justice. Possibly, nobody but Enid Blyton could.

Never too old!

When I found out Enid Blyton books were available on Amazon, I was never so happy - the favourite author of my childhood, and all the wonderful stories and series available to me to read again. Mallory Towers is my favorite of the boarding school stories, I have them all now, thanks to Amazon, still reading and re-reading. Next I will be ordering the Famous Five series!

My daughter has read the preceding three books in the series and regards it as one of the very best.

Keeps Getting Better!

Upper fourth at Malory Towers was the best of Malory Towers I've read so far. They just keep getting better all the time! I'm just after finishing this book and I loved it! The first of the midnight feasts was very exciting. I hope there are more feasts in the books to come. You should read this book because I think you will like it. Malory Towers is perfect to read alone or with a family.

This story was so good. I was surprised when I read this book that Darrell was the head girl. It was quite fun reading this book because one of the chapters said that they were having a feast in the middle of the night. That must of been fun, but suddenly Darrell's sister and her friend came along to join...

really good book

Although the book lacks a little bit of details that the movie actually shows, which usually is the other way around, its very well written and easy to read for kids. It differs from the movie in a few details such as Theodoras tears burning and her first time getting mad and using her fire magic. Aside from all of this my daughter enjoyed reading it and saved us anither trip to the movie theater.

It does however explain to the reader the most important parts of the movie and shows more in detail Glindas attraction to Oz.

Very good book. Woukd definitely recommend

Excellent just like the movie

A quick, delightful book that young and the old-er will greatly enjoy. Very much like the movie which we saw before reading the book but the book still takes your imagination to great heights. Highly recommend as it will hold your attention from start to end.

My son loves this book!

We bought this book for my 8 year old son who is addicted to anything Oz. He has read it at least 5 or 6 times! Once he saw the movie, he had to have the book. The cover is very much used looking by now, of course, but the pages inside are in surprisingly good shape, so it has held up to his rough handling very well. My only regret is that I wish I could buy it in hardback.

This was a great buy - inexpensive and encourages my son to read.

Oz The great and powerful

This story is about a land that needs help from a wizard. Oz meets the three witches, Glinda, Theodora and Evanora. Evanora was the one who killed Glinda's father and cause Glinda for being the one who killed her own father. Soon everyone found out that it was Evanore who killed Glinda's father and turned Theodore in to a bad witch. In the end Oz won and all of oz will be safe from the wicked witches long as they believe. Oz and Glinda lived happily ever after.

brilliant book that transformed my son from a reluctant reader ...

brilliant book that transformed my son from a reluctant reader into a boy who begs to read with a flashlight under the covers. Now recommending this series to everyone I know with a 6-7 year old boy. Also very funny.

(only caveat- I wish that the only female character in the book wasn't such a lame sidekick and that she could actually be goofy/ funny/ ridiculous/ have adventures too instead of an eternal boring 'voice of sense' but it's a small price for a series of books that is so utterly compelling to my kid)

Great Book Source

Great book and supplier. 100% satisfied

I'm not sure I'll ever really look at roses or listen to cello music the same way again

I HAD to read this book because I've spent time in Bosnia and Croatia and my father has spent some significant time there helping in the post-war rebuilding efforts.

First, I was really glad at the end there was a large history lesson given to properly put this story in context. I found it to be informative, easy to read and understand as well as very powerful once you stop to think about what the story was saying. I really want to give the little boy a hug and buy dozens of his flowers now....

It is a kids book with adorable illustrations but for anyone not familiar with this area of the world, the story talks about a bombing which killed people. If you're a caregiver who doesn't believe in exposing your child to 'violence' then you may not like this book. For everyone else this is a fantastic book to not only teach a little bit about history but an excellent way to open the conversation to death and other hard topics including what could your child do to help others in their time of grief.

I have 2 daughters with autism and have found books similar to these have been very helpful in talking about otherwise difficult subjects with them.

This book perfectly captured the spirit of the people and left me in tears at the simplicity and beauty pouring forth from its pages. I immediately had to go to Amazon and pre-order a copy for my dad to read to his grandkids. In America with its extreme divisiveness this book is a much needed lesson in how people of different backgrounds can still find common ground to be there for one another. Coming from an Irish family it's a lesson that has taken us quite a while to learn as well so it may be more of something that is needed across the globe rather than in pockets which just goes to show the true beauty of this story in that it's adaptable across all cultures.

War and Art

Drasko sells flowers with his father in the marketplace in Sarajevo. They sell the best roses in the entire city. But when war came, Draskoâs father leaves to fight and Drasko is alone selling flowers. He is pushed out of their usual spot to one at the edge of the market. The only good thing is that he can now hear the symphony playing. Suddenly, the market is hit by a mortar and 22 people are killed. Drasko returns to the market the next day, but all is silent and empty.

Amazing book

This book is great, written by on of the worlds best scientists. It features Geoge nd Annie(SPOILER ALERT) going on a space training program to Mars. But, the evil Alioth Merat, disguised as Eric's assistant, Rika Dur using a 3-D printed bersion of her face, gets Eric fired.
