Length: 8 hrs and 27 mins
    Language: English

    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
A poignant and relatable novel, Looking Glass Lies captures the war women wage against themselves, and the struggle to see beauty reflected in a mirror not distorted by society's unrelenting expectations.
For most of her adult life, Cecily Ross has compared herself to other women - and come up short. After a painful divorce from her emotionally abusive husband, Cecily returns to her hometown of Canyon, Texas, looking to heal.
But coming home isn't what she expects. In a town as small as Canyon, her pain is difficult to escape - especially with her model-perfect ex - sister-in-law working at the town's popular coffee-shop hangout. With help from her father, a support group, and an old friend who guides her to see her own strengths, Cecily may have a shot at overcoming her insecurities and learning to love again.
The true test comes when tragedy strikes, opening Cecily's eyes to the harmfulness of her distorted views on beauty - and giving her the perfect opportunity to find peace at last.

This book is for every girl, everywhere, that has ever felt less than enough...
I wanted to put this book down so many times, but I couldn't. I'm not just speaking figuratively, either. I would physically put the book down and then pick it right back up again. "One more chapter, one more chapter..."
This book is for every girl, everywhere, that has ever felt less than enough. Not smart enough. Not talented enough. Not popular enough. Not fit enough. Not pretty enough. Or even... not pretty at all.
Oh, that we could wear a sign around our neck that says, "Fragile spirit: proceed with caution." No one knows what's going on in the recesses of our mind; not everyone wears their inner demons on their sleeve for all to see. What kind of world would it be if we did?
One year post-divorce (the circumstances surrounding it revealed in brief snippets throughout the story), Cecily finds herself back home, living with her father in the town where she grew up. Unfortunately, her demons have followed her and if it weren't for the quirky, steadfast leader of her support group and an old acquaintance turned loved interest, her battle would be hard won.
Looking Glass Lies deals with the war between one's inner voice and the voices inside one's head that merely echo the world's distorted expectations of beauty. In it, our heroine is forced to ask herself, over and over and over again, "Is it my own voice I hear when I look in the mirror?" The answer, more often than not, is a resounding 'no'. So we are privy to the emotional workings of her journey as she struggles to discern between what is truth and what is a lie, the battle both inward and outward, discouraging and inspiring.
There are lots of areas where I would have loved to have had more of the story to chew through & digest. (view spoiler) And yet, to dwell on any of these points of the story would have been to detract from Cecily's story and the inner dialogue that has the power to speak to every reader on a deeply emotional, authentic level.
While it's a tough subject to read, the message within makes it worth every word. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy to finally be able to set the book down, but it's only a matter of time before I pick it up again.

Bonne lecture.
    a pleasure
This book is so well documented, it's a fairy tale grounded in reality, very well written and incredibly fascinating, I couldn't put it down.
    Not my favorite.
I had to read this novel for my French class and I really wanted to like it but it was just an odd narrative. Not my kind of book.
    A great read.
A very interestingly constructed novel. A great read.

Length: 12 hrs and 40 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-21-16

    Publisher's Summary:
A timeless story of mothers and daughters with a razor-sharp 21st century twist, this heart-wrenching debut for fans of Jodi Picoult, Jane Shemilt and The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas will make you question how you and your family spend time online.
Isabel Murrow is precariously balancing her career and her family. Hard-working and caring, worried but supportive, all Isobel wants, in a perilous world of bullies and temptations, is to keep her daughter Phoebe safe.
Phoebe has just attempted suicide. She says it is Isabel's fault.
Saving Phoebe Murrow is a timely tale about an age-old problem - how best to raise our children, and how far to go in keeping them from harm. Set amidst the complicated web of relationships at the school gate, it tells a story of miscommunication and malice, drugs and Facebook, prejudice and revenge.
    Critic Reviews:
    "Satisfyingly realistic..." (Kirkus Reviews)
"Saving Phoebe Murrow is a believable, gripping, heart-wrenching novel about how reality can be tragically manipulated in this age of social media." (Jyotsna Sreenivasan, author of And Laughter Fell From the Sky)
"Insightful, gripping, in the end thrilling. Most highly recommended." (Wayne Johnson, author of The Devil You Know)
    Members Reviews:
A riveting story about adolescence, family and the consequences of a single act of cruelty.
â Saving Phoebe Morrow,â takes us deep into the often fraught and risky world of teenage girls, viewed through a motherâs worried gaze. What does it mean to be a good mother, when the cruelty and betrayals of adolescence go to far? How do we keep our daughters from harm and how far should we intrude into their lives to do so? Herta Feely deftly pens a riveting story about a mother whose â perfect lifeâ threatens to unravel, in the wake of a cruel act of cyberbullying. That single thoughtless act unleashes a cascade of unexpected consequences for the whole family and beyond. From the first page, I couldnât put this book down.
    A timely, thoughtful good read...
Saving Phoebe Murrow is a compelling read. I quickly got so caught up with the characters and their stories that I couldnât put the book down. The book is centered in people and circumstances with which many readers can easily identify. Busy professional parents striving to balance their careers with their familyâs needs and their own internal conflicts, including different approaches to parenting and marriage. At its core, however, this is the story of a teenage girl struggling to find and define herself even as her hormones begin to rage and her insecurities multiply. It doesnât help that her girlfriends and potential boyfriends â online and off -- arenât always nice and arenât always who or what they appear to be. The timeliness and importance of Phoebeâs story, however, is centered in demonstrating the devastating effects of cyberbullying. Who among us hasnât taken affront with the Wild West elements of social media? It is a frontier in which there are few rules and far too many people are intent to be outraged, mean-spirited, hurtful, and sometimes deceitful. Herta Feelyâs debut novel compels us to recognize that for all its benefits, todayâs online world can be troubling terrain for adults and a devastating environment for children and adolescents.

    Title: She Has No Name
    Author: Angelique Lafontaine
    Narrator: Samuel Schwarz
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 4 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-07-16
    Publisher: Angelique LaFontaine
    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
You will not find a happy ending or romantic interludes; there will be no heroes to save the day nor will justice prevail. You will see nothing more than the rawness of the world narrated to you by an individual seeing the world through her own eyes. Take a glimpse into a small portion of her life and bear witness to the transformation from a young girl to a young woman and take note of her biases, her jadedness, and her level of sensitivity. She will share with you her triumphs and her heartaches, all delivered absent of emotion. The incidents here are not relevant; the outcomes warrant neither approval nor rebuttal; people are not important in this story, relationships are inconsequential, and our heroine is nothing more than a tiny thread in a largely woven tapestry. For these reasons, she has no name.

    She Has No Name
I noticed online that the author was asking for people to read and review her novel. Having a free afternoon I decided I would read and review it.
The novel is listed as fiction and written in the first person. The story is one of physical and emotional abuse and may not be suitable for all audiences. It also includes underage drinking, drug abuse and underage sexual situations including rape.
Any story of abuse is difficult to read. The very real emotions of the victims are hard to deal with and their stories traumatic. They wrench our hearts and bring emotions to the surface. We want them to leave the situation or be rescued.
Unfortunately in this novel the protagonist never elicits that kind of response. Her affect throughout is so flat and without definition it is hard to find her as a person to identify with. Caught in the cycle of abuse going from one bad relationship to another she appears more apathetic than sympathetic. The same is true of her abusers. They never have a defined personality and are more an adjunct to the plot that participants in it.
There are also more than a few grammatical, spelling and word use errors that take away from the reading of the story.
I have given the novel 3 Stars more for the attempt to bring abuse into the light of day and stop the cycle than the writing or storyline.

    Title: Coming to Terms
    Author: KA Moll
    Narrator: Emily Beresford
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 8 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-07-16
    Publisher: Triplicity Publishing
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 48 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Coming to Terms is a love story - and so much more. It's a story of the impact of sexual abuse and addiction. It's a story of the hunt for a serial rapist turned murderer. Mainly though, it's a story of Sawyer's journey to forgive - another and herself.
Sawyer James is a cop. It's who she is and all she ever wanted to be. The job is all she has. Sawyer's alone, not necessarily because she wants to be, but because horrors in her past have left her drifting in seething waters. To move forward into a fulfilling relationship, Sawyer must come to terms.
Sage Carson is a clinical social worker. She's divorced and alone. Alone is definitely preferable to being married. At almost 40, she comes to realize that her marital problems weren't due to a lack of sexual desire, but rather, her lack of sexual desire for a man. Sage's attraction to Sawyer is an awakening. To move forward, to not spend her life alone, Sage must come to terms - with her own sexuality and with Sawyer.
In their struggle - to love - to forgive - to survive - Sage and Sawyer risk everything.
    But is everything enough?

    Definite page turner
Would you listen to Coming to Terms again? Why?
    Lots of details.
What did you like best about this story?
Fast paced, and talked about real issues.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    No
    Any additional comments?
Great book, it is a welcome addition to my library.
    Spoiler Alert
This was my first book by KA Moll. It was a great story. I enjoyed it because both characters got together early on in the book and embarked on this journey...together! Didn't have to go through break ups and making up, but, rather enjoyed how they overcome the obstacles that stood in their way. I loved how both characters 'changed their stories'
And I think the narrator did a great job of relating the story. So, worth listening to!
    i liked the story line.
there is a point at around chapter 23or 24 where the story could have ended but kept going. its after that part the story becomes pretty difficult to listen to. as in the details of trauma. pretty heavy stuff. i did keep coming back to listen to the rest of the audio book. i would recommend it. i just wouldn't listen to it on a cross country trip.
    Pacing issues
This book has some significant pacing issues. There were numerous times when I felt like the action was happening off camera, so to speak, and the parts we actually get in detail have odd time gaps. Overall I think this could have been at least twice as long if some of the details, the things I felt were being condensed and skipped, were a little more fleshed out. That said, there were also some bits that might've been unnecessary and could be condensed or cut entirely.
The narration was good. I only remember one jarring moment when the narrator said parameter when context dictated that it should have been perimeter. I don't know if this was actually an error in the writing or just a quirk of the narrator's speech.
The writing, pacing issues aside, wasn't bad. I think this author just needs a good editor.
The chemistry between the two main characters was believable, although I did feel that their relationship was rather accelerated. Again, pacing issues.
I don't regret my purchase, but I wouldn't put this high on a list of recommendations to others.
    Good story
the relationships seemed to form out of miss air.
