Brilliant apologetics

C S Lewis delivers brilliant apologetics in Mere Christianity. Everyone in Christian ministry should include this book in their studies. I have read the book before and heard it now audibly. I loved the content but didn't like the style of reading.

A hearty meal for those fearing to be healthy Christians!

Having been a worship leader for over 12 years, I found this to be refreshing. It is truthful. It is Biblical. I highly recommend it for everyone that would consider themselves a Christian. The content is of such, that every Believer needs to hear.

Amazingly eye opening!!!

Have a contrite heart. Do not let pride get the best of what God deserves of your being. Everything about this book was revolutionary to reviving the created beings that are saved by the grace of God. Not only for revival but for practical assurance of an amazing life dedicated to Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Father. I recommend this book to everyone who truly seeks God.

Very thorough

Excellent in its delivery and did not come off prudish or confrontational. As a Dad of a touring Christian artist with songs on the radio, I found it refreshingly honest. I hope to have my singer-songwriter son read this. Well done.

What did you like best about this story?

M. Scott Peck's "The Road Less Traveled", "Further Along the Road Less Traveled", and "The Road Less Traveled and Beyond" guided many a sufferer into recovery. "Godforsaken" does the same.

What about Lloyd Jamess performance did you like?

Either this book was badly written and superbly read, or this book was superbly written and superbly read. I am inclined to believe the latter. Lloyd James' performance is nothing less than outstanding.

"Godforsaken" was written in language of the heart. Now see it!

I can't visualize how a film of this book could be made. It would have to be at least as good as "Life of Pi".

Enlightening and comforting, I highly recommend it

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. I not only gained valuable insight, but a measure of comfort and reassurance. Professionally done, and at the pinnacle of academic standard of presenting a case, refuting opposing arguments, and achieving logical conclusions. I couldn't recommend this book highly enough.

What a fantastic book, highly researched, with a unique eye-opening perspective. Does not shy away from the toughest topics of life.

What other book might you compare Godforsaken to and why?

Dinesh D'Souza's other books, What's So Great About Christianity and Life After Death: The Evidence.

I would say this book rates in between in quality of content, with What's So Great About Christianity rating higher. Godforsaken, takes some of the information in What's So Great and a little from Life After Death, and expands upon it, while breaking new territory.

Any additional comments?

A good read, but it's not necessarily a book to listen to when you're driving in busy traffic, for example, as if you lose concentration in certain parts, you'll miss the point being made and the logic behind it.

I don't agree with everything D'Souza says, but it enriched my faith and made me think. It definitely answers the question of why bad things happen and is there a God who cares? Well worth the time. I highly recommend it.

This book is a great resource to use as a lense to reflect upon the current rush towards a social gospel message and reminds us what the core belief of Christians should be... the cross! I found this book very helpful.

Inspiring and Thoughtful Content

This book provides an unapologetic, refreshing, biblical-based perspective on the responsibilities of Christians. The only disappointment was that when the book quoted scripture, the narrator assumed an almost-Ossie Davis tone which detracted from the content because it wasn't genuine.

A Sober Minded Response to Liberalism

As in his other works, DeYoung manages to give a very sober and realistic response to pendulum swings within the Church. His take on social justice, shalom, and other sexy evangelical buzzwords will add needed clarity to an American church struggling to make sense of the new rise of liberalism.

Nothing new here except the terrible narration.

This series contains the audio from class lectures by Dr. Bill Creasy.

Dr. Creasy covers each book verse-by-verse, providing context to the material by explaining other passages in the Bible that may relate to a passage under study, with descriptions of corresponding historical events and the geography and their relationship to the passage, as well as anecdotes from his travels or study. I find it extremely helpful to study the Bible in context with geography and history.

As explained in the opening lesson on Genesis, this study starts with Genesis in the Old Testament, then moves to Matthew in the New Testament, then Exodus and Leviticus in the Old Testament, then back to Mark in the New Testament, and so on. Dr. Creasy does this because 1) if covered in weekly segments, as done in his class, it would be in year 5 before he got to Matthew, and 2) to help show the relationship between Old Testament and New Testament.

According to the syllabus I received from Dr. Creasy (he sometimes deviates from this in class), Second Timothy is the thirty-ninth in the Logos Bible Study series, preceded by First Timothy and followed by Titus. Second Timothy has 4 chapters, and the study is comprised of 2 lessons. Total time - 1 hours, 23 minutes.
