Publisher's Summary:
There are true things about us and there are truer things. David Lomas invites readers to move beyond what may simply be true to the truest thing, discovering a real identity in Christ. We are all bundles of competing desires and half-true labels. We arry them around like scars; we carry them around like badges. They tell us we are no more than a job description, relationship status, or appearance. But the most important and truest identity of every Christian is that they are loved, accepted, and created in the image of God. In The Truest Thing about You, Lomas addresses head-on the deepest questions of the soul: How can I know the truest thing about me? Not who I wish I was or who others say I am, but who am I really? He guides readers to uncover and embrace the reality of how God sees them - and why it all matters. You will learn to give what your spouse needs most in marriage, and take what you need most in return. Find out:
By learning to give and take fairly and effectively, you and your spouse can grow in love and compatibility.
Members Reviews:
Leading us out of the maze of "finding me"
Point: Your identity is not found in what you have, do, or desire. Your identity is in who has you, what he has done for you, and what he desires to have with you - a personal relationship.
Path: Lomas takes the reader back through the maze of lost identity to the place we need to start. He finds us in a desperate search of plowing the sand the sowing the ocean in trying to find who we are, then he leads us back to the place we need to be, recognizing who we are in Christ.
Sources: Lomas bases much of what he says on Christâs teaching in the gospels and Paulâs teaching to the churches. He references several other books on identity.
Agreement: This is an excellent resource for helping an individual orientate themselves in the confusing world of âfinding yourself.â It is not just a good one time reminder, but one I need daily as I gravitate towards works righteousness.
Personal App: Am I trying to find my identity in me, or in Christ? I can tell by whether I do, so thatâ or I have, so thatâ or I desire, so â God doesnât work like that. He says, âyouâre loved, thereforeââ
Favorite Quote: âAnd our call, then, is to become who we areâto live out the truth of this truest thing about us.â
It would be worth another read and I would recommend it to someone who:
is trying to âfind themselvesâ
is a believer but feels the weight of failure
pretty much any believer

A timely and comprehensive examination of Identity
'The Truest Thing About You' is just about one of the most boldest titles you could come up with. The book does not disappoint in living up to its title.
