Cha! Three amazing books, one long story.
Did I think it was a good story? I think that I did. Dexterity Jones is one of my favorite characters, and I loved the end of his story. Enjoy.

Great story - could use better narrator
As often happens when multi - book or related works have different narrators, the enunciation and pronunciation of many words - especially proper nouns - are inconsistent. Sometimes the pace of the narrator was a bit rushed. Otherwise, very enjoyable.

    Brilliant
Martin einmalig.

    Even better the second time
I'd previously read the book in English, and because I read German a little slower than English, I enjoyed it even more the second time. For me reading the book more slowly gave me a chance to really appreciate the descriptive writing.
    Five Stars
awesome book! can't wait for the next one
Song of Ice and Fire Review
Very intricate story, excellent characters. The world created by George Martin, Westeros and the free cities, comes very much alive.
    sad sad sad
i started reading George R R Martins books after i saw the first series of: Game of thrones. First i liked it alot but as the plot continues i had the feeling to be stalled by by dozens of pages which did not really contribute to the Story but just fill pages.
at the end i quit reading his books because its just pseudo erotic wanna be Lord of the Rings gibberish and a total waste of time

B grade TV series trying to be a book
    I am disappointed.
Ed Greenwood and Jeff Grubb wrote the Forgotten Realms Campaign Set for TSR and he has written many novels since . .. some good, some . . . well lets just say we all have bad days . . .
This is I am afraid a mishmash of indifferent to please kill his main character NOW so we no longer have to suffer. . .
It is written like some early Batman TV series you can at times almost hear the words "tune in next next week will the Dark Lord get some brains/spine/life/meaning/find someone who cares even if does any or all of the above . . ."
It lurches from one gratuitous killing field to another with the odd schoolboy allusions to sexual innuendo or worse. . .
The anti hero is so lame you always wish he will die . . . Thomas Covenant and Co can breath a sigh of relief . . .
So far I have made 4 attempts to finish book one . . . I keep hoping it will get better . . .
The narrator tries to breath life into it but is hampered by inane & trite material . . . I pity him . . . he does a good job but he is let down by what he is forced to read . . .
The second book has a new narrator but it's not the narrator that's the issue here its the writing . . .
I love fantasy. I love games like WOW. I love scifi. I have done so all my life . . Now as my eyesight betrays me I listen to audio books . . .
I had hoped that a man who helped fuel fantasy games & novels would have done a better job . . . I was mistaken . . .
I have unfortunately purchased book one and two .. If I ever make it through one I will review Book Two . . . One can only hope it gets better . . .
I am sorry if I offend any one with this review but this is my opinion of this novel . . . feel free to write your own if you disagree . . .
I might go listen to Tolkien or Eddings etc . . . I need to rebuild my faith in fantasy writers . .
    Part One (expanded reasoning)
I have to agree with the review from "Joel from Canada" - there doesn't seem to be a real completion to this particular book. Instead, once you finish, it feels as if you should be hearing the prompt "You have completed this part, but not the complete audiobook. Please visit your library for the next part of this audiobook."
Beyond that, however, I was pleased enough with the novel. I typically shy away from fantasy novels that broach upon any interaction between a "real world of today" and a fantasy realm, but Greenwood did a passable job of keeping this as a sub-item in the overall content.
The interactions between the "hero and the [battle]maiden fair" get a bit overdrawn and overacted - it feels like watching a bad high school play - but these moments pass and you are then submerged back into the real content of the story.
Overall, I enjoyed it and will be purchasing the second part in the series to find out where the tale goes from here. I'd recommend the book to others as long as they were aware that they'll need the next book (Arch Wizard) to be readily available when they finish this one.
    part one
Not a bad effort. But the problem is that this is not a complete book. The story does not have a climax nor resolution.

    To Be Continued
This is a wonderful trilogy, imaginative, well-narrated and delightful. But be warned, although it does not say so anywhere, this recording, unlike the recordings of Book 1 and Book 2, is incomplete. This is only the first half of the book. It seems the second half isn't out yet. I wouldn't have bought something half done, and have to wait until who knows when to finish it, had I known it was not complete.
    Seriously?!
Learning the secret to our main characters demise is a bit of a shock, and somewhat disappointing, and funny and familiar all at the same time. I love the way this series is based on true "fairy tales" and myths of English/Irish/Scottish origins. I think that's why I love these books. The ending was, yeah, like, what happened, exactly? But, I believe Dart-Thornton clears up some of the mystery in her afterword in Part II.
    Disapointing
The first book was great, the second was OK, the third just felt like nothing happened!
The story constantly gets lost amid ridiculously long descriptions and i found myself not knowing what was happening half the time because of this. The characters have many names and this makes keeping track of them hard. I thought this was the last book but it turns out its the last book (part 1), kind of like what they did with the harry potter books in cinema. So i was a little worried when 5 minutes to the end nothing was being resolved. Nothing is resolved in this book.
    Here is a brief synopsis:
    - She goes into a forest
    - She finds some kind of rope maze and slides down ropes
    - She finds a village where every man thinks she is hot
-She meets a man who has trouble walking over small trickles of water
    - She leaves and travels far looking for the door
    - Then just before she gets to the door her friends get kidnapped
    - She travels away from the door looking for her friends
    - She makes funny shoes to walk over a hedge maze
    - She finds a lava kindgom
    - She turns into a swan
She always gets close to finding something plot worthy when she gets distracted right at the last minute and decides to travel 500 miles (as the crow flies) in the other direction. MENTAL. The main character (Imhrien, Rohain, Ashalynn, Taquil) is just annoying me now. It was better when she was a mute.

    Good, Bad and Irritating
It's such a shame, the story line was interesting until it became confusing...the main character keeps changing her name, I realize the identity issue but honestly enough is enough.
The Pied Piper? The most used logic puzzle with the doors? I'm sorry but bad enough to blatantly incorporate another story line and try to make it actually work, but it is made all the worse by the excess of flowery descriptive phrasing that actually begins to detract even more from the story.
I am curious what happens, but not so sure if I'm curious enough to get the next book (which they've divided in half for double credits).
    I tried...I really did.
The non-stop detailed descriptions of every item and location surrounding the characters were just too much and by chapter two I found myself fas t forwarding through the rest of the book still hoping it would get to the point. Nope.
    Book 3 where art thou
A good story, with a half decent narrator. But if you live in Australia you'll have to read book three because it's not available on audible. But in a whole an okay story. Some good twists and turns with some questions left from book 1 answered.
    Embarrassing
There are elements of a good story in this second book of the Bitterbynde trilogy, but I have to agree with other reviewers of Dart-Thornton's books. She seems to be in love with words to an excessive degree. I love good description, and a varied vocabulary, but it is almost as though she has something to prove by giving lengthy and overblown description of absolutely everything. It becomes exhausting and causes the plot itself to drag. Her rich embellishments would be far more effective if they were used much more sparingly. It really does become embarrassing. To make matters worse, the narrator clearly reads as though she is reading poetry most of the time, which I suppose she must surmise it is from the flowery style. Faulkner lifts her voice at the end of almost every sentence, as one might read poetry from line to line. In addition, she mispronounces many of the words, which detracts from the flow. I am sure she got awfully tired of looking up words and just guessed at many of them. Unfortunately, her reading has caused me to be certain that I don't listen to any more books read by her.
Oddly, though, she does an admirable job of slogging through the verbiage and often can distract me from the pure agony of hearing the lists of 50 food items. I just let my mind rest and go without paying attention (until she mispronounces something). I WILL finish the series, though, because I want to know how it is resolved. It is sad that it has become such a chore. A trusted editor and coach could have helped this book so much.
    Sweet!
After the first book, Ill-Made Mute, this is quite a relief for the main character and the readers! This book is sort of the sweetness and calm recovery after one horrible calamity and before the next. Though, there is plenty of nastiness and surprises for our character and her associates.
