This is a wonderful book series that goes along with the A to Z mystery books...highly suggested for kids between 5 and 9. My son, who is eight loves them and it keeps him reading even during the summer

Good!

This book is a mystery to all. This book is so fun that it will make you go coo coo! This book is amazing. --- from Grace Eileen, age 6

As you can see, my daughter loved this book. She has had a hard time keeping an interest in chapter books, but she really looked forward to more chapters each night. She is also able to read any page herself as we go through the book. We will buy more books in this series.

Great Mystery Series!

I purchased the first 4 book in this mystery series for my 7 year old granddaughter. She likes them.

I will continue purchasing the rest of the series for her.

Bedtime favorite

My husband and I read these stories to my daughter at bedtime. The kids solve mysteries and use critical thinking skills to solve problems.

Ramona Forever

Ramona Forever was a great book. I could understand very clearly what they were saying. I did not have the book so I could not follow along. Over all it was a great experience.

Ramona lives on Forever

My parents read these books growing up, and so did I. These books show a child's sense of humor and I think this is the best of the series.

Title: Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales

Author: Hans Christian Andersen

Narrator: Alan Cumming, Nigel Davenport, Andrew Sachs, Juliet Stevenson

Format: Unabridged

Length: 3 hrs and 6 mins

Language: English

Release date: 05-12-10

Publisher: Penguin Books Ltd

Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 66 votes

Genres: Kids, Ages 5-7

Publisher's Summary:

Download eight timeless audio tales from a magical storyteller.

This enchanting collection, retold by writer and critic Naomi Lewis, contains eight of Hans Christian Andersens magnificent fairy tales. It includes Thumbelina, a little girl no more than a thumb-joint high, The Emperors New Clothes, the tale of a man who cares only for his appearance and The Little Mermaid, who longs to one day marry a human prince.

Hans Christian Andersen was born in Odense, Denmark, in 1805. At the age of 14 he went to Copenhagen to become an actor. He failed and instead went back to school, where he was very unhappy. He published his first book, an account of a walking trip, in 1829. From then on he wrote many books, finding his true voice in his original fairy stories, which often had their basis in his life. He died in 1875.

Members Reviews:

Thrilling

The narrating was great! The stories had there happy parts and with some a touch of sadness. I expected it to be great and it's more than great!!

Older Gradeschoolers Please

What did you like best about Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales? What did you like least?

The narrator was far and away the best thing about this book. The grimm nature of some of the stories would be best suited for a mature 3rd grader to possibly 6th grade student.

What about the narratorss performance did you like?

Clearness, perfect diction, and well reined accent made it easy for children to understand.

Not your average fairytale!

Funny, fairy tales are always thought of as sweetness and light-these aren't! I wouldn't share these with a 3 year old! Pride, greed, murder...but excellent ways to teach morals. Wonderfully told too. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Buy the CD Instead

Nothing wrong with the stories but the book is downloaded as a singe 3-hour track. Even when burned to CD the tracks don't correspond with the stories so you cant't jump to the story you want. A waste of time.

Does not contain the 12 stories

This only contains 7 of the stories not the 12 as described. Disappointing as I wanted the 12 stories.

Small and short version of a Carolyn Keene book. ...

Small and short version of a Carolyn Keene book. She must be rolling around in her grave. And it is on the ugliest paper possible.

Great Gift

Ordered this book as a Christmas gift for a lovely young lady. She loved it. She couldn't put it down and read it quickly.

Who is trying to ruin the big recital?

Put on your pink tights, black leotards, toe shoes and get ready to pirouette your way to a smashing solution of one of eight-year-old Nancy Drew's most entertaining mysteries!

Set against the backdrop of Madame Dugrand's dance studio, Nancy and all her girlfriends are ready for the big night! That is, until the music for their special performance goes missing.

Could it be the janitor, who is mad because the recital is causing him so much extra work? Or could it be one of the girls?

Nancy has a mere two days to crack the case of Bad Day for Ballet, and her fans will adore following along!

Series Review

In the series Nancy Drew Notebooks by Carolyn Keene, the main character Nancy Drew is always solving mysteries. For example, in the book Nancy Drew and the Sandcastle Mystery, Nancy, Bess and George are wondering who smashed their building. And they built it for a contest.

My favorite Nancy Drew book is Bad Day for Ballet because I used to take ballet and it's very fun to do. I'm not going to give the ending away because I want you to find out what happened and if it turns out to be a real bad day for ballet.

What I enjoy about the series is the mysteries and characters. I think people who should read this series are people who like very fun mysteries. Also you might want a notebook like Nancy Drew. She writes whatever happens. And I also have a notebook like Nancy Drew. Whenever I read the Nancy Drew series, I feel like a detective too!

Elizabeth's Review

I am seven years old. I like this book because it is really neat. I would have to say this book is a best book's I have read. The author did a great job on the book. The book is about a girl named Nancy. Nancy has a big mission. Nancy looks for the tape. Does Nancy find the tape or does her friend get blamed? Nancy Drew books are my favorite books. Nancy Drew books are the best books. (I would have to say)
