Looking forward to the next book in this series

I absolutely LOVED the Faith McMann series (I was so invested in the characters I even got weepy) and I hope Jessie Cole series I s just as good. I am addicted to audible and the narration for all the books so far has been superb. I liked the multiple storylines going on in Her Last Day and looking forward to Book 2. Just purchased Book 1 of Lizzy Gardner, glad to see there are multiple books as I always hate finishing a book that I really like. T.R. Regan is a great author!

Gripping from the start...

Another amazing story by T R Ragan. I start of a great series. Really enjoy all the audio books performed by Kate Rudd. Highly recommend!

Murder in an English manor 4/5

Ms Marty Wingate, I have read all your Potting Shed Mysteries to date and feel that I'm welcome back home to each new addition. This is the best one yet. Applause.

Ms. Erin Bennet thank you for your efforts. Your British accents help make me feel back in England, and your ability to switch to that Texan twang of Pru's, just makes it all more visible. Congratulations.

The story takes you back into the life of Pru (Texas gardener extraordinaire), and husband Chief Inspector Christopher Pearse, go on a job and vacation mix. Pru looking forward to another English garden to get her hands into, and husband as backup. Even though it starts with a simple beginning, things go wrong. But that is where the entertainment lies--in all the little things that keep adding up. There is an death that is abruptly thrown in to stir things up, and when they we go into detective mode we know we are in 3rd gear. Nosy Texan meets inquisitive Brits in the country side--who will figure it out first. Pleasurable sleuthing creates for great entertainment.

Worth the listen, worth the credit

Great listen/read--try all of Marty Wingate's other 5 books first. I can personally tell you the story develops with each new book, developing into a great cozy mystery.

A little disapointed

I have enjoyed this series but was a bit disappointed with this book. It wasn't a terrible listen but I didn't think story line not as good as previous books.

Another Good Series

Like Copperman's other books, Dog Dish of Doom is funny and entertaining with lots of twist and turns. The characters are realistic and well developed. The plot is well written with a steady pace and humor. I look forward to the next book.

Animal Entertainment Agent Turns Amateur Detective

It was the title. It made me laugh and then I had to read the blurb which also pulled me in. I could tell this was going to be a fun, light-hearted mystery that wouldn't challenge me, but would entertain me highly. Dog Dish of Doom performed to expectation, for sure.

I have seen Angela from Simply Angela's blog reviews on a different cozy mystery series by this author so I was pleased to give Copperman's work a try in this new series start. What a fun theme for the series having the amateur detective being an animal entertainer agent. Kay is also accompanied in her efforts by her quirky show-biz parents, two rescue dogs, incomparable assistant Consuelo with son Diego, and potential flame and local coffee shop owner Sam.

Kay's an irascible and snarky, down to earth gal who is all about her animal clients even to the point of caring more about their well-being than their human owners or the humans they must work with. This story introduces her latest client, Bruno, who is up to co-star in an off-Broadway production of Annie.

The theater world was a neat backdrop for this mystery that had some nice twists. The story had two mysteries going on actually- the death of Trent and the malevolent interest in Bruno. It paced out slowly as Kay and the gang including a police detective followed the clues to a surprising end.

I listened to Dog Dish of Doom and enjoyed the talented narration of Christy Romano telling the story. This was not my first listen in with Christy. I enjoyed her work earlier this year. She's got a great wry, humorous tone that matched the story well.

In summary, this was vastly amusing and I can definitely recommend it to those who enjoy cozy mysteries. I definitely plan to read/listen to more of Copperman's work and this quirky fun series.

Delightful

After listening to a heavy psychological thriller I needed a light, humorous, entertaining story. This fit the bill.

Ugh

I wanted to like this. The story line itself was getting to be a little intriguing, but I was completely and totally thrown out of it by the narrator so many times that I had little tolerance for any sort of annoying plot holes or cliched tropes.

So when the villain was introduced as "the man in black" (biggest cliche ever) it sent me right to the edge of "NOPE" immediately, and then...oh gosh. The villain said to the main protagonist (only he says this to himself where only he can hear it while lurking in the shadows and looking at the main protagonist -- another whopping cliche) "your time will come"... Eye roll inducing cliche number 3 in a matter of seconds. I'm OUT!!

What year is this?? The story includes smart phones and references to Urban Dictionary, but the villain is out of a 1970s B film?? I was waiting for the narrator to say he wrung his long bony fingers together whilst saying "mwaaahahahahahHaha" afterwards. Geeze!!!!

So I may end up slogging through this when I've run out of reading credits for the month, but I just can't force myself back to it right now.

Could not get through the prologue

I was looking forward to listening to this book because of the hard copy reviews but I just couldn't listen to this man, I will just have to read it

Thrilling Serial Killer Novel

Butterfly Kisses was a good serial killer novel. I thought the story was laid out nicely with good pacing. The character development was fair - could have used more. Overall it kept my attentions and Michael Pauley's narration really brought the story and characters to life. I look forward to more from this Author & Narrator

Pretty good, as cozies go...

If you enjoy cosy mysteries, this one was mostly low-key, not overly exciting, yet had a very interesting angle for creating the characters. It featured a grandfather (Chester) and grand daughter (Clare) who together run a shop that repairs old typewriters and books called The Rescued Word. I dont know this for sure, but Im guessing that many of us who read cosy mysteries may well recall typing on actual typewriters (well, I do). So at least for me, that certainly made the book more fun.

Who would ever think someone might get killed after trying desperately to buy or steal an old typewriter? Well, that is the dilemma in this book. As Clare has to work with her best friend Jodi and her brother Creighton (whom she formerly dated) who are both part of the Sky City, Utah police force, to solve this odd mystery, she faces danger, and finds love.

I think the strength of this book was in creation of interesting characters. The weakness might have been the narration, which was okay, but felt a little lackluster. I wouldnt call this a page-turner, but it was a good solid listen. Recommend.

Type interesting

This is a new author to me. As the characters develop, the writer makes quick work of focusing on the main people and shops. The story is smooth and engaging from the start. The narrator sets just the right tone. Great read!

I enjoyed listening to this cozy mystery. Maguerite Gaven us one of my favorite nsrrators. She does a great job bringing these characters to life. The story is well written with engaging characters who behave realistically. I hope the rest of the books are made available to Audible listeners.

A Mystery in a Delightful Setting

In To Helvetica and Back by Paige Shelton, Clare works at the Rescued Word, the special shop where she works with her grandfather, Chester Henry, repairing ancient typewriters and books. Chester even has built a working replica of the Gutenberg Press that earned him national attention in the 1960s. Then one day Mirabel, a regular customer and contemporary of Chester's who used to write then-scandalous romance novels, brought her old Underwood typewriter to be repaired. But before Clare can begin work on the typewriter, a scary looking man in leather and with bloodshot eyes comes in and demands that Clare sell that particular typewriter to him. As the man becomes violently agitated, Clare sends for the police, causing the man to escape.

Great return of a favorite character!

I have to admit I gave this book five stars because I was thrilled to see a new book featuring Sigrid Harald. She was a great character but author Margaret Maron switched to another heroine in her Bootleggers Daughter series and I thought we'd seen the last Sigrid Harald book. This was like a great reunion with an old friend. The story may be more enjoyable for readers who are familiar with past Sigrid Harald books but it's an unusual mystery with an ending that wasn't obvious to me. I hope there will be more Harald books to come.

Sara Paretsky and Susan Ericksen together - wow!

I love Paretsky's VI character, her street fighter instincts and her endearing cast of family. Put together with Susan Ericksen as narrator and it just doesn't get any better. In this book, VI runs into her usual pitfalls, gets into typical VI trouble while trying to follower her noble instincts and navigate a love life in the midst of her escapades. It is harrowing, relevant and spell binding. Love the series. Wish Ericksen has narrated all of them.

"Tunnel Vision", a Paretsky best.

Always enjoy the Paretsky stories with the interplay of characters, of which Tunnel Vision has many, and a very involved plot. I like that, and it keeps my mind from wandering.

The narrator, Susan Ericksen, walks the line and talks the talk for a perfect Vic, or would it be Vick? I'm an audible person anymore, and haven't read a Paretsky in paper for many years. Though, I could remember liking the author and the story. Now I'm hooked on Audible.com.

Please write more in this series!

Okay, it took a little time to get used to the narrator, but I adjusted easily enough.

The story is full of whimsy and humor. Plus a nice story story line, with plenty of action! Whats not to love?

Audible 20 review sweepstakes entry

a lottle too much like the first books.

If you've read the first two books I'd skip this one . The main character, Margie, is supposed to be fairly smart but makes the same mistakes over and over. Her mother and mother-in-law are stereotypes and don't have common sense. I find that frustrating.

The reader is great though and it is a funny book and a light mystery. But like most jokes, they get old after they have been told before.

Not as good as the first two

Part of the problem is the narrator changed the pronunciation of the main character's name, which was kind of distracting.

One would also think that Margie would have learned her lesson about moving dead bodies.

Can't wait for more!

Loved the series! The characters have modern problems that were hilarious and easy to relate to. Ready for the next one!

Hooked on Harry

Would you listen to The Harry Starke Series: Books 4-6 again? Why?

Probably, I will certainly listen to more in the series. just downloaded the 7 - 9 books.

The formula works! While the plots vary all over the map (and all are clever)we now know exactly how Harry and crew will respond to all issues.

The narrator is Harry to me now. I can't imagine anyone else in the role at this point. All of Harry's charm and wit come through loud and clear.

I'm really enjoying this series

Patricia McLinn has created an original series that keeps getting better. The characters are well developed and continue to grow. Jane McLaughlin does an outstanding job of bringing it all together. I highly recommend this series.

Would you listen to Left Hanging again? Why?

Yes, I'd listen again. Every character presented a taste of today's cowboy culture in a place that seemed very true to life, and each presented his or her own puzzle to be solved. The narrator made every character interesting and distinct, and together, the author and the narrator made Left Hanging feel like a real picture of Wyoming.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This is the second book about a TV reporter removed from her familiar world of big time news and deposited somewhat reluctantly into an environment very far away, both culturally and geographically.
