    Great
I enjoy the story telling by Robert Ludlum. The reader does a great job.
    Not again
I thought I would give him another try...I regret it. While better than the last, it still just seemed to drag on and on. I Like long stories, I wont usually download a book less that 12+ hours, but this should have been a 6 hour book...the rest was tiresome filler.
This is the one that got me hooked
This was my first audiobook ... the one that got me hooked. Great plot and intrigue. John Smith is a great character, which can be followed to a few different Ludlum titles. Expertly read by Paul Michael.
    My ludlum start.
This was my first Ludlum book on audio back when i was renting them at Truckstops. I was very pleased with this book and you will be too. the main character is a cross between james bond and Quincy M.D. . for those of you that might remember that show. This is the 2nd book in a Series and i like the main character , Probably cause he is in his forties and fit and smart. something that is rarely portrayed in a lead character. usually they equate fit with youth. But i digress . get this book
    Good but not the best.
This book, in many ways has formula written all over it. It parallels The Hades Factor to some extent. Jon Smith makes some but limited little use of his band of associates from the past. Additional use of his cohorts from the past would be welcome
Very little is ever developed on the actual Casandra Compact which would have been an interesting adventure in itself.
Overall, it is a good read but clearly not Ludlum's best work.

    Loved it!
Would you listen to Disclosure again? Why?
Yes. It was a well-crafted story with believable characters.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Meredith Johnson. She was the picture of a woman who felt entitled to take whatever action she felt necessary to achieve her goals.
What about John Lithgows performance did you like?
Everything! He has a talent for voices which makes him an excellent choice for storytelling!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I can't point to any particular part of the story because there were so many aspects of the story that leapt at me during the entire performance!
    Any additional comments?
I would recommend this story to anyone who was interested in michael crichton books!
    worth it
Although I have read better Michael Crichton books I believe the listener will be highly entertained and possibly educated about sexual harassment in the workplace. What excites me most is that the book is read by John Lithgow. If you can find Bonfire of The Vanities GET IT. Lithgow plays all characters brilliantly as he does in Disclosure. The story moves well. The characters are 3 dimensional.
    Great!!!
I remember this movie from long ago....but I was young and not that interested or educated in life as much. Now I have a Masters Degree and have had a top exec position with a prominent company....this true story does happen and they cover it up all the time!!!!
    Sexy One
Book is about office politics and sexual harassment...based on real story. Both heroes and villains are believable. And, it's about high tech 20 years ago. I saw the movie about 10 years ago and thought that I recalled the plot--but it was different than I recall...better. In my opinion, the theme/lesson is that anyone can throw out the sexual harassment flag, is instantly believed, and it shouldn't be so.
    Impossible to understand
When I bought this I failed to realise it was an abridged version. Now I still believe the full version of this book is very good, just as all other Chrichton books, but I could not follow or enjoy the storyline of this abridged version.

    Excellence Marred By Poor Technology
This is a rip-roaring "V.I." novel read with versatility and passion by Jean Smart, but the microphone bumps and shifts in sound quality knocked this down to four stars. If you are listening with headphones, turn down the volume about 2 hours and 25 minutes before the end. The volume jumps to DEAFENING and the sound is comparable to bad AM radio. Still, it's worth the listening experience.
    Solid Mystery
One of fiction's best characters is back with a well crafted mystery. It's a double barrel offering with great character and fascinating puzzle. It's not going to disappoint you.
Excellent V.I story with the best narrator...
This is one of those V.I. Warshawski stories that kept me right on the edge of my seat. I listened to this while commuting to and from work over a period of a few weeks. I found myself white knuckling the steering wheel during the really tense parts... and occasionally taking the long way home just to listen to more. V.I. goes through hell in this one, and takes her closest confidants with her. There is little Lotty in this one, but when she does show, the scenes are packed with emotion that seizes your heart. We are treated to quite a bit of Mr. Contreras and Peppy and Mitch, though. Jean Smart does the best narration of the V.I. novels, in my opinion, with Susan Ericksen falling a close second.
For those who are passingly familiar with the V.I. timeline, this is book 9, and the book in which she meets Morrell.
    Amazing
This is the first VI novel I've heard and it has now made me an addict!!! The quality of the file is sketchy at first. I'm not sure if it was just my download, but it just jumped into narration. Luckily I continued and was absolutely amazed with how great the story and characters were. Also, I am a great fan of Jean Smart and love her interpretation of VI. A must hear!!!
    Awesome
I have read many of Sara Paretsky's books and have enjoyed them all, but this book, I believe is by far her best. The story is so compelling, I couldn't "put it down". And Jean Smarts narrating, or should I say performance, was fantastic. She brought life to this book like no other has done for Paretsky's books on audible. I highly recommend this book.

Great book (5 Stars), bad narrator(2 stars)!
I've listened to/read this book with great joy on at least three different occasions. I love Robert Crais' work. Elvis Cole and Joe Pike are quite a team, their loyalty and dedication to each other makes them the best of friends and its a great treat to see them work a case together. This case is a little too close to home for both characters and it will take all of Elvis' detective skills to solve this one (especially since its his friends life in the balance).
LA Requiem, though not the first in the 'Elvis Cole' novels was the first I listened to/read and I was immediately hooked. I've since read every book in this series and have never been disappointed.
I was disappointed however with this particular audio version of LA Requiem. The version I originally listened to and enjoyed was borrowed from the local library. Recorded Books is the name of the company that produced that version and the narrator, Ron McLarty did an outstanding job. In fact it was his reading that helped pull me into the story. He has a gift for making each character real; its quite easy for the listener to get caught-up in the story. If you listen to both versions You will have no problem in seeing the difference in the narration style.
    Exceptional reading
Robert Crais can always be counted on to give bang for the buck. His signature character, Elvis Cole, is so vivid, he has more flesh of reality than any other fictional detective in literature with the exception of perhaps Sherlock Holmes. Normally the key, he gives way to Joe Pike, his anything but chatty companion, in this outing. Joe is the main guy this time and he carries the story along to its interesting conclusion. I loved this book, as I do all of Mr. Crais' novels, and highly recommend it to anyone in search of good read and a compelling story.
    Robert Crais is amazing...
I have read every book in this series I could get my hands on. Elvis Cole and Joe Pike are two detectives with heart, humor and street smarts. Elivs has a smart mouth that had me laughing out loud and Joe..well Joe doesn't say much but when he does you listen. I highly recommend the Elvis Cole series to everyone who enjoyes a smart mouthed detective, with a great sense of humor thrown in. wonderfully written and read.
    great story, bad reader
Robert Crais is one of my favorite writers of detective fiction and LA Requiem is one of my favorite books of his. I love the Joe Pike character and this story gives some essential background on him that explains a lot about his temperament. The problem with this audio book is the narrator. He was so bad that at several points in the book I actually cringed at his portrayal of characters.

    Classic PD James
Ok, this was a classic PD James book; beautifully written, lots of very nice psychological details; lots and lots of descriptions; and a good mystery to boot. Would have rated it 5 stars but I found myself wanting the author to get on with the story and therefore lighten up on the descriptions and the psychological details. So, what makes this book great, also made it lag. Perhaps I have become impatient lately because of the more americanized detective stories I have been reading as of late. But, if you want to spend a lot of time on one very well written and detailed murder mystery, this is it. Oh, and I liked PD James' little self portrait which she placed in the book towards the end. . . or I wanted to think it was her, anyway.
    Good PD James book
Long and slow in parts, but if you like other PD James books, you'll like this one. It's very character driven, which I like. Good story, but the end is a bit unsatisfying and out of nowhere.
    Super PD JAMES
Loved reading this book and listening too. In fact, listening really brings out the author's poetic, moving words. Great characters starting with Dalglish and Kate. Wonderful voice with great range that makes each character distinctive.
    A good story.
I always enjoy P. D. James. She brings out flaws in human nature we all have on some level in her characters,
    Excellent
Fabulous mystery, great character development. One of my favorite books ever.
    Not gory, no gratuitous language.
    Sad I have finished it.

THIS BOOK NEEDS TO BE LISTENED TO FIRST!!!
I listened to three books before I realized I should have started with this book. This books tells you who Salvo Montalbano is, where he lived when he first started as an inspector and how he got to Vigata. How he found his present house he lives in by the water, his house keeper/cook. How he met Livia his love, how he loves great cuisine. He seeks out the best food even in some of the smallest places. Montalbano savors his food. You have to listen to this book. Short, sweet and gives you great insight to the rest of the Montalbano series by Andrea Camilleri.
    Love Montalbano...Narration has problems!
Where does Montalbanos First Case and Other Stories rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
    Middle of the road unfortunately
What other book might you compare Montalbanos First Case and Other Stories to and why?
    None at this point
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Grover Gardner?
    Anyone else...
    Any additional comments?
This is the problem. I love the TV series Montalbano (and Young Montalbano). Had never read any of the books and was really looking forward to these Audible books. I cringed at times listening. I know the narrator has won some fantastic awards for his abilities but for crying out loud, someone has to explain this to me. Much of the narration is straightforward. Montalbano sounds more Northeastern American......Then all of the sudden some of the characters are portrayed in a stereo typical "I'm-a-not a gonna tell you-a-nuthin".. HUH? Sounds like something from a bad movie. Other times the narrator gave the characters a (little like Desi Arnaz...."You got some splainin to do Lucy";) type speech using splainin rather than explaining and others had almost a Bowery Boy New York accent (for those old enough to remember those movies). Very confused by this. I am used to books from Audible with fantastic dialects...character voices etc. But since these characters are all supposed to be Italian / Sicilian and other parts of Italy...then either use reasonable Italian...or all in "English"... but not crossing between Bowery New York and some Spanish thrown in. This perhaps sound harsh but this interpretation is about the worse I have heard. I am debating whether to listen to the rest of the books because I find the presentation annoying. I had hoped in coming back up to Audible to that someone else had done some narration of other books in this lineup...but nope.

    Exceeded my expectations!
This is another new author for me. This is also another author I will be watching out for. This book actually surprised me, I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did.
Since there are other detailed reviews I won't restate what the book is about. I will say I thought this was an unlikely trio for PIs but the author makes it work and I give him credit for that.
If you have kindle unlimited this is a no brainer, it's FREE!
Stefan Rudnicki does an excellent job narrating.
I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this book (at a little over 5 hours it's actually a novella).
If you found this review helpful please indicate so.
    Thank You.
    Ripped From The Headlines
There is something about a well-written Detective/PI story that makes me not able to put the book down. The interaction of the private investigator (or in this case investigators) and the people surrounding the crime makes for such an enjoyable story.
Joey Mancuso used to be a cop. He was forced off of the force due to some good police work that had him barking up the wrong tree. Now he helps run a bar that is frequented by Wall Street money men while trying to get a PI firm off the ground. He is joined by his half-brother Father OBrian. And believe it or not, the combination of an ex-cop and a priest make for some awesome detective and PI work.
After finishing A Murder On Wall Street I can tell you this I will definitely be picking up other audiobooks in this series if Parr and Skyboat make them. I loved the interaction of Mancuso and Father OBrien along with his interactions with his girlfriend and FBI agent Marcy. Mancuso mentions numerous times that he had a different way of solving crimes and that came out a little, but overall I found him to be one of the more enjoyable PIs Ive followed.
The story itself was straight out of the playbook of real life crime TV show American Greed. Honestly, after finishing it, I feel like it was real and that I actually watched a documentary instead of reading a fiction book.
Parr did his research every character in this book felt both believable and like they could have done it. The ending reminded me a bit of the ending of the movie Clue (with slightly less comedy). Mancuso seemed to have an heir for theatrics (but I wont ruin the ending by explaining why I mean here).
The narration for A Murder On Wall Street was done by Stefan Rudnicki who does a great job. I had no issues at all listening to him tell this story.

    Wrong Narrator for Story
The story was very good. The narrator would have been wonderful but not on this book. Her accent just didn't work for me and I found myself paying more attention to it than the story.
    great book
I loved it I couldn't stop I needed to know what was going to happen, next
very enjoyable, easy to follow and listen to
like listen to these books start to finish and not stopping, easy to follow very enjoyable
    OK
I Was a little disappointed to be honest.
I had really been looking forward to reading this book and it just wasn't as good as I hoped.
English Accent (with a spoiler alert)
Would you ever listen to anything by Blake Pierce again?
I read Blake Pierce's first book in print and thought it an okay, quick murder mystery. Her second book seemed like it would be a good listen. It wasn't. The two plot lines felt like two separate novellas put into one book. The family dynamics with Reilly, her husband and daughter seemed unrealistic. Would a mother rescue her daughter from a serial killer and then immediately take her on another horrific serial murderer case, leaving her alone in a hotel all day with a maid to "keep an eye on her"?
What didnt you like about Elaine Wises performance?
Elaine Wise has a lovely, mature voice and a strong British accent. This is a total miss for a young, American, FBI agent working in New York. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they had her narrate this book.

Harry Starke is out of retirement, back on the job, and his long-time friend, Jim Wallace, is in big trouble. The evidence against him is overwhelming. To keep Jim from facing death row, Harry must find answers to all of those questions and, as usual, there is a twist in the tale.
    Members Reviews:
The series gets better and better!
Harry investigates the murder of the wife of a long-time friend, but unlike the rest of the books in the series, he and Kate are on opposite sides and cannot work together. This adds additional stress to Harry, who is already dealing with increasingly dark and ugly details about the murder victim. The husband is, of course, the prime suspect, and each new tidbit of information just adds to the apparent motives. The case progresses to trial, with Harry the only one who believes in the friend's innocence. At the very last minute, there is a twist you won't see coming!
I have read all 12 books in the series, and in my opinion, each has been better than the ones before. Start at the beginning so you don't miss the background in the development of this excellent cast of characters. You won't be disappointed!
Another terrific score for Blair Howard and Harry Starke
Another terrific score for Blair Howard and Harry Starke. Iâve read and loved them all, but this one really had me âhoodwinked.â Great story! Wonderfully inventive! Cleverly deceptive! Canât wait for the next one. Please.
Finally an ending I didn't guess
Harry Starke has grown into a believable character. I loved that he was standing by his friend no matter what everyone else said. Interesting story line, different than the average. Good ending.

Murder and great entertainment in north Highlands
Where does Death of a Maid rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Up there in this genre. Amusing, gentle (for a murder) and great character development of Hamish Macbeth, constable of tiny Highland village and his life.
Have you listened to any of Graeme Malcolms other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. Love his scottish interpretation and accent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes,
    Any additional comments?
I will listen to more! Only wish I had done them in order.
    THE NARRATOR!!!!!!!!
Graeme Malcolm is, repeat, is Hamish Macbeth. While Ms. Beaton writes a wonderful story, my pleasure would be only half with any other narrator.
    Charming and different
Not your usual crime novel, the unassuming lead is as interesting as the mystery itself! Nice mix of humor and mystery. More Hamish MacBeth!
    Fun and enjoyable books
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, if you want a cozy read Hamish MacBeth stories are for you.
    Any additional comments?
I have listened to almost all of the Hamish MacBeth books and read a few, I only have one complaint....Blair his roles in these books are far to predicable and tiresome, in his daily attempts to destroy Hamish with his petty schemes and always flying under the radar of his boss Daviot with compliments and endless gifts to his with wife...old, boring and lets not forget to mention fustrating
    Always a great read
Hamish Macbeth is up to his ingenious methods of detecting crime again and giving the credit to others. He is much at ease in his much beloved Highlands and doesn't want to leave and we are grateful for that. All the more we get to hear of his antics. it would be a relief though if he would just finally break down and give Elsbeth that ring he has locked up in his safe. These stories are always fun to listen to and make you want to hear many more. this one is no exception. I loved it!!
