BEST TRILOGY- that I secretly want to be a movie-EVER!
While searching for some new fantasy reads, I came across The Whispers of the Fallen and immediately after reading the summary, just had to have it.
J.D. Nettoâs story is littered with examples of juxtaposition from the moment we are introduced to the world of Elysium until the very end. For the author to have spent six years writing this is insane but definitely WORTH IT.
Naturally, my expectations for this trilogy in particular were very high. I wanted non-stop action, amazing well- rounded characters, and total badassery. I must say that I was NOT disappointed! This book was honestly non-stop action from beginning to end and I LOVED every word of it. The characters are so badass (even the ones you hate) and they evolve really well, the story transitions so smoothly, and the writing is seriously one of my favorite parts of this book because of the surprise switch, of the point of views that the story is told from. J.D. Netto, you are now added to my list of favorite authors.
There is absolutely nothing I did not like about these books because they were all very satisfying. I even caught myself trying to catch my breath a few times because I was so immersed into what was going on. I have not felt this way since ACOTAR by Sara J. Mass. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy, YA, fiction, and even to the people who donât. If you have not yet read it, you do not know what you are missing. Iâm so in love.

Overall, I liked the book and the plot. It is an epic fantasy adventure, and the mystery draws you in from the very first pages. It is dark and atmospheric, and the author has created a complex world in which good battles evil, and light battles darkness.
The story takes its reader on an adventurous journey, but along the way, I felt like we lost sight of the ultimate purpose of the journey. The narrative switches between fast-paced, action-packed battle and conversations including explanations of what is happening. While most of the explanations are sufficient, a lot it still left unsaid and is only gradually revealed, which sometimes made it difficult to follow.
