Members of Al-Qaida have set in place a vicious biological attack. Men and women infected with the highly communicable Marburg virus have been sent to major cities and sensitive locations throughout the world in hopes of creating a deadly, global epidemic.
The dedicated men and women of SSI, led by former rear admiral Michael Derringer, are consummate professionals, nearly all ex-police or military, and are the among the best in the world at what they do. But the mastermind behind the living bio-weapons, Dr. Saeed Sharif, is more deadly than anyone could have possibly imagined. Spread throughout the globe and thwarting attacks on their home facilities, the staff at SSI soon find themselves engaged in a frontline game of ground warfare. And to make matters worse, two infected Marburg carriers are heading straight for the United States. Using every resource it has, SSI launches an all-out search for the walking plague carriers before thousands more become infected and die.
Posing a frightening scenario that could become all too real in the near future, and filled with the details of the military world that have made Coyle's books best-sellers, Pandora's Legion hits the front lines of the new war against terrorism in this engrossing, high-stakes novel.

    Liked it...
listened to the unabridged audio edition of this book and I found it a fast-paced thriller with an intriguing suspenseful plot. What if a madman decided to use human carriers to deliver a deadly virus to the states? How would the USA respond?
This was a great book with some fun characters. I particularly liked the interaction with the men in the desert and hostage scene early on. I was on the edge of my seat!
Peeves: I did feel the author could've ratcheted up the suspense a bit by actual having a plague outbreak early on. Also, I wish the contagion was something a bit less ewww. The scenes where the disease and its affects were described made me gag. I also wondered, wouldn't the terroris be smarter to release something the carrier was immune to like smallpox? This would widen the impact of the threat and potentially be more devastating.
Overall this was a good novel, look forward to more.
    so so
This was more Tillman than Boyle. Ok. Good story. Rolled my eyes many times when it seemed author was trying to hard. Definitely not a Team Yankee.
    good over all
regarding use of "paki" dont ever read tom sawyer or huck finn, i have both used and heard the use of paki as shorthand with no racist overtones whatsoever , such as "yank" "brit" etc. after all its a book and if the author wants to be realistic thats what people say,
a solid good listen - but with major faults!
i quite enjoyed this book. it was well read, however the narrator did the absolute worst british accent i have yet heard on audible! dire and very distracting. Its biggest fault though was the constant use of 'Paki' as an abbreviation for Pakistani.

What did you like most about Code to Zero?
The story. All Follet's books have fascinating plots and very good language.
    Any additional comments?
I did not like the performance. However, I might be biased because I prefer when a male actor reads a thriller.

    Exciting and Riveting
This is a great story - it's riveting listening. I couldn't put it down once I started. The narrator is excellent and very easy to listen to. The pace is fast and exciting in the typical Ken Follet fashion. I've listened to 3 of Ken Follets novels on audiobook and this has been the best so far.
    Simple enjoyment
Very easy book to listen to.
the narrative was excellent and plot flowed smoothly. The characters were cartoonish but enlightening about the roles of women during the war.
    Good Parts Version
There are 3 Ken Follett books that have been in my Audible Wish List since the end of 2012! Thats about 3 years now.
    Modigliani Scandal
    Paper Money
    Jackdaws
I did not buy the books because only the abridged versions were available and I generally dont care for condensed books, but after three years of waiting, plus a sale, I decided why not! Its time to plunge.
I just finished Jackdaws, the last of the 3, and I have to say that THIS is how a book should be abridged! I never felt like I was missing information or that we had jumped around in time leaving inexplicable holes in the plot. It was like the good-parts version of a story as opposed to the confusing or downright terrible mess of the previous too.
Im glad I read this one last, it has helped to restore my faith in abridged books good ones do exist!
Regarding the narration, Lady Rosamund Painswick is great!
Short but sweet. Predictable but worthwhile
Ken Follett can do no wrong in my books. This was an extremely light read, and I enjoyed it. Im a big WW2 fan, and , although predictable, was fun.
I didnt regret the credit to purchase this book.
I figure you can't go wrong with Ken!
    Short but sweet
Great story, fast moving, very enjoyable. Just a little short for the price of a full credit .

    Dragon Fire is thoroughly entertaining
It's frightening to think that such things occur in the shadows of society but they do. This work of "fiction" might just as well have come from the diary of someone's life or from memories and fears chosen to be put to paper before fading into the darkness of old age.
From the Situation Room of the world's most powerful nation to the spys and operatives in the field, the reader will be kept on the edge wondering what will happen next; how will this one turn out? Plan to be entertained, thrilled, puzzled and frightened at the thought of such things actually happening. Could they, have they, or will they? Perhaps this story is a compilation of facts instead of a mere creation of the author's fantasy. Fantasy or disguised facts, I still wonder which is true but you must decide for yourself. Certainly a worthwhile read.
    Five Stars
    Cohenis a great writer.dcf
    Fun and fast
Written by President Clinton's last Secretary of Defense William Cohen (prior to that a Republican Senator from Maine), I thought a nice fiction book about a SecDef might offer some realistic insider accounts of how things work in the Pentagon. I'm thinking not so much on the realist part, but it was still a lot of fun. Perhaps this shouldn't be a surprise, but the hero of the story is a former two term senator who comes on board to help a president by serving as SecDef. Low and behold, the SecDef is basically James Bond on steroids. (Perhaps Barry Bonds is the better comparison.) Anyway, real or not, it was fun.
    Dragon Fire
Sec Cohen knows of what he speaks (writes about). I really liked his writing, clear and concise, and I hope he writes more. It was a winner with me and several friends.

    Publisher's Summary:
Christopher, at the height of his powers, believes he knows who arranged the assassination and why. His theory is so destructive of the legend of the dead president, though, and so dangerous to the survival of foreign policy, that he is ordered to desist from investigating. But Christopher is a man who lives by, and for, the truth, and his internal compunctions force him to the heart of the matter.
The Tears of Autumn is an incisive study of power and a brilliant commentary on the force of illusion, the grip of superstition, and the overwhelming strength of blood and family in the affairs of a nation.
    Critic Reviews:
"Charles McCarry...resides in the upper echelon of spy fiction's Mount Olympus." (Boston Globe) "Fascinating, entirely credible....This political thriller catches the reader and commands him to finish." (Peter Benchley)

    Read Me First
Of the three McCarrys currently available at Audible, this is the one to try first. The engrossing "could have been" explanation for the Kennedy assassination is developed with sufficient plausibility and with enough respect for the events and circumstances of that place and time that it requires no suspension of disbelief to allow you to be drawn into the story.
If you find you enjoy McCarry's literate and absorbing style as much as I do, your next stop should be "The Last Supper," which wraps up details from "The Tears of Autumn" and has an historical sweep that reminds me of Littell's "The Company."
In my opinion, you should let "The Miernik Dossier" round out your reading of the three McCarrys. Although it was the author's first novel, it uses a challenging multiple point-of-view technique that is much easier to deal with after you've been introduced to protagonist Paul Christopher's world in a more traditional fashion.
    It must be me
I couldn't get through it though I forced myself to endure the endless drone. I thought suspense novels were supposed to make you want to turn the page to find out what is going to happen next or to uncover another clue. This book just goes on and on endlessly without suspense. This book makes reading the crime beat or arest records in the newspapaper exciting.
If you like David Ignatius, you'll like this
This book presents a first-person, novelized form of the theory presented as fact in Triangle of Death. The audio book is nicely done & held my attention throughout.
    Simply Superb
An enthralling adventure marked by Mr. McCarry's erudition and craftmanship. Well worth the time and cost. and, who knows, it might have happened just as he postulates.
    Classic Spy Fiction
One of the great spy novels tightly plotted and beautifully written. The narration is first rate the cadence just rolls over you

    Title: The Company
Subtitle: A Novel of the CIA
    Author: Robert Littell

Length: 16 hrs and 56 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-29-06
    Publisher: Phoenix Books
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 89 votes
    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Espionage
    Publisher's Summary:
Robert Littell creates a multigenerational, wickedly nostalgic saga of the ClA - "The Company" to insiders. The fictional and historical characters of Robert Littell's novel reveal much of the nearly 50 years of this complex and powerful organization. At the heart is a mole hunt involving the CIA, M16, KGB, and Mossad, a stunningly conceived trip down the rabbit hole to the labyrinthine Alice-in-Wonderland world of espionage, a "world where things have no names".
Racing across a landscape spanning the legendary Berlin Base of the '50s, the front line of the simmering Cold War Soviet invasion of Hungary, the Bay of Pigs, Afghanistan, and the Gorbachev putsch, The Company tells the thrilling story of agents imprisoned in double lives, fighting an enemy that is amoral, elusive, formidable.
Littell also lays bare the internecine warfare within "The Company" itself, adding another dimension to the spy vs. spy game. An atmosphere of distrust pits the counter-intelligence agents behind the desks in Washington, like the utterly obsessive real-life mole hunter James Jesus Angleton, against the covert action boys in the field, like "The Company's" Harvey Torriti, The Sorcerer, a brilliant and brash rules breaker, and his Apprentice, Jack McAuliffe, recruited fresh out of Yale, who learns both tradecraft and the hard truths of life in the field.
As this dazzling anatomy of the CIA unfolds, nothing less than the future is at stake. And the future is often only the day after tomorrow. At once a celebration of a long Cold War well fought and an elegy for the end of an era.

Narration good, story complex held my interest
A bit difficult to stay in tune with who is who; but this may the nature of trying to write a story about the CIA. Some bad language however not it fit the character/s and timing when it was used.
    Good Story
Great if you want the history of the CIA. Detailed and interesting and involved.
Great story, needs slight production tweak
I really enjoyed this audio book with only one recurring problem - no gaps between chapters.
Someone there is no pause between the last sentence of a chapter and the first sentence of the next. ThIs meant that many times in the book two completely different thoughts were slammed together causing me to break my immersion to figure out what was going on.
It took me a good third of the book to figure out what was going on. And the next third of the book to start to get used to it. By the last third I was OK with it although it still was an annoyance. Hopefully by giving you, future reader, a heads up about this issue you can adjust to it earlier and enjoy the now.
Even better, hopefully the production company reads this review and can upload an edited version
    So disappointed I gave up
I really wanted to like this book, but I had to give up after I was about half way through. The story was very slow and dull. The narrator made very little voice distinction between any of the characters, so I kept getting them confused.
    Good book
It was very good enjoyed the suspense and the historical knowledge. Also very good narrator

Brilliantly read! The story is delightful and original and Michael Frayn keeps the suspense to the very end . 'Spies' shouldn't have been abridged in my opinion, as every line is wonderful. More of Frayn's books please!
    Really gripping

    McCarry arrives at Audible
At last! And I hope it is the first of the many books by this literate espionage novelist we will be able to hear. In this, his first novel, McCarry chose a difficult technique - multiple points of view on the same subject - and carried it off beautifully.
The use of a fine cast of multiple readers makes the audio performance of this book even more powerful than the print version I first read many years ago.
Set in the Cold War, the story is, in turn, antic and poignant as the attention of half a dozen security agencies focuses on Thaddeus Miernik. Is he a hapless stooge or a clever spymaster, an unlovely martyr to misfortune or a crafty mastermind?
A CIA agent who worked undercover in his youth, McCarry brings the ring of authenticity to his novels - and the missteps, mistakes and misunderstandings that shape covert work form the heart of his tales.
There is plenty of action in this unlikely journey of friends and spies across the African desert, but the mysteries take shape in the mind games that play out in the interaction of the characters and the off-screen forces that influence, examine and direct their actions.
This book introduces McCarry's virtuous and cerebral American spy Paul Christopher and launches a series of intriguing novels that will span decades - both in the writing of them and the context of events that play out through the cycle of this remarkable author's work.
McCarry has been compared favorably to the best of Greene and LeCarre, and his talent shows even in this first novel.
Listen to it, enjoy it, and join me in waiting anxiously for the Audible versions of McCarry's "The Better Angels," "The Tears of Autumn," and the latest - "The Old Boys."
    A thrilling journal
Would you listen to The Miernik Dossier again? Why?
Yes, this is sort of a book that the end doesnt matter, its the journey (no pun intended) that counts.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Definitely Miernik, his add demeanor had kind of. a je ne sais quoi about him.
What about the narratorss performance did you like?
I loved this 4 narrators combination, it felt like a radio performance of years gone by.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes, definitely yes.
    Any additional comments?
It is the first time I have listened to book in a journal style comprised of reports & debriefings. I was expecting it to be a very long 10 hours. To my surprise, I couldnt put it down, at times I sat in the car long after my arrival to hear a few more minutes of this fascinating account of those add friends in their strange journey. McCarry weaves this espionage plot in an ingenious way; he has this picturesque way to describe the players and events. The narrators, 4 in total, did an excellent job acting the parts of each of the characters and reading the dossier in a dry non involved manner.
I would strongly recommend listening to this book
    The American John leCarre
Charles McCarry is the great American spy novelist. There are few guns and the violence is rare enough to be visceral. The protagonist, Paul Christopher, walks in the gray between doubt and faith.
