    Title: Trigger Point
Subtitle: The Gabriel Wolfe Thrillers, Book 1
    Author: Andy Maslen
    Narrator: Gethyn Edwards
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 59 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-03-16
    Publisher: Sunfish Ltd
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 26 votes
    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Espionage
    Publisher's Summary:
When you want to take power, call the SAS.
A right-wing billionaire is standing for Parliament. He enlists the help of ex-SAS soldier, Gabriel Wolfe. Gabriel left the Army after a covert mission went disastrously wrong and has sworn never to cause another man's death.
It quickly becomes clear that Sir Toby Maitland's ambitions extend far beyond a seat as an MP.
When an ex-contact in Swedish Special Forces, now working for MI5, contacts Gabriel, he realizes he has little choice but to try to stop his employer's juggernaut in its tracks.
Drugs, guns, and plastique: Gabriel finds himself embroiled in deals with Hell's Angels and a South African arms dealer in the US before the true nature of Sir Toby's plan is revealed.
This is a fast-paced thriller in the same vein as early James Bond, through Robert Ludlum's Bourne books to Lee Child's Jack Reacher series. Expect fast cars, gunplay, nail-biting suspense, and enough hardware to start a small war.
Watch out Reacher, there's a new guy in town. If you like your action hot and heavy and your heroes cool under fire, you'll love Gabriel Wolfe. But be warned, beneath the calm surface deep currents are flowing. Currents that threaten to take him under every single day of his life.

    Plot line Not Developed Enough:
Story was actually pretty good, but the different plot lines were not developed. The movements of the characters were skipping from place to place too quickly. The story needed more development. This could have been a five star book if the writer had gone into a lot more detail.
Plus, the book could easily have been 12 to 14 hours.
    A thrilling and suspenseful ride.
This is my first book by Andy Maslen and it was thrilling. I was on the edge of my seat listening to every word. What a story! Filled with intrigue, suspense, conspiracy, excellent details, absolutely amazing. Narrator Gethyn Edwards delivers a fantastic performance. With a wide range of accents and characters, it is truly a outstanding performance. A must have book.
    A gripping thriller
If you like Dick Francis and Lee Child, you'll love this! Andy Maslen's tense thriller is deftly brought to life by Gethyn Edwards' compelling narration.
    A gripping story well written
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It's a beautifully written book, full of the kind of small details and observations that make characters and places really believable. The plot's clever and clearly very well researched. It had me hooked from the start and kept me gripped throughout. What also helped was that it was read well too, which made it a pleasure to listen to. I can't wait for the audio version of the next Gabriel Wolfe novel!
What other book might you compare Trigger Point to, and why?
It's not usually the kind of book I'd read or listen to, but I'm converted!
Which scene did you most enjoy?
As much as the action scenes are expertly written with an amazing level of detail, I really liked the softer scenes involving the girls and when Gabriel's alone with his thoughts too.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. I won't give away too much away but it involved Gabriel's dog.
    Any additional comments?
Definitely one to download for your hols!
    Not bad
An easy listen with plenty of action.

    Great and simple as ever
I continue to be amazed at the simplicity and yet intriguing story lines from Tom Wood... the mistakes that show imperfections in the main protagonist and yet the sheer will to achieve. very enjoyable...
    Excellent as usual
Great story as I have come to expect from Tom Wood. Great narration by Daniel Philpott too. Can't wait for the next one.
    another winner!
if you have enjoyed his other excellent books then you will love this one - best yet!
    Never again
After listening to this I felt that it was a time to die. Managed 3/4 of the story before I finally just had to give in.
Characters felt lifeless and grey. Story was as predictable as a corrie script. Narrator a big let down too; I stills nothing into the characters, making no attempt to try and bring them to life.
After having the title recommended by Audible I feel hugely let down.
    Excellant
What did you like best about this story?
I liked how you got to hear more about Victor's past, I've always wanted to know where he came from,
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The end scene is good, I like it when Victor gets mad
    Any additional comments?
I hope there's going to be more Victor, I wouldn't mind seeing a film of this book

    Back to the Beginning
    Any additional comments?
I listened to the audiobook version of this story and enjoyed it immensely. I have read later Nick Kismet books, so it was interesting for me to read the one that started the series. I liked the pace of the book and the characters in the story were intriguing. I certainly plan on filling in the stories in the series that I have missed.
I thought the audio performance was great and it made the book even more fun to follow.
    More fun than I anticipated!
This book is one part Da Vinci Code conspiracy, one part Tom Clancy military thriller, and two parts Indiana Jones adventure. It's a peculiar mixture, but I really enjoyed it.
The narrator did his job well, with the exception of a few pronunciations that I found kind of annoying, but that's me being nitpicky. The different characters' accents were varied and interesting.
The only real complaint I had is that there sometimes wasn't much of a pause when the story changed scenes, which occasionally led to some momentary confusion.
It is pretty clear that sequels will follow this, and I'm excited about that.
    Deje vu....no. Deja vu...yes!
in general, I liked the book. There were a few points that I think could have been better. The narrator mispronounced several different words, but the one that really sticks out his his repeated mispronunciation of Deja vu. It was grating on my nerves.
Also, there is a super-long chase scene with an almost unbelievable ending (I don't want to spoil it).
Overall, it would have been better (IMHO) if someone had listened to the book before putting it on the market as an audio book (like a voice editor).

    Love This Series
Rick Jones has created a formidable and interesting group of soldiers that report directly to the Pope. The tension between being warriors and mean of God creates a unique element to this series. Wish the publisher would complete the series in the audible format. I hate it when I start a series as an audio book and then it isn't complete or every other one is recorded. It's very frustrating. However, that fact has nothing to do with my enjoyment of the author's work.

Conspiracies, Aliens, Archeology = Great Thriller!
After listening to book one in the Jade Ihara Adventures, I was excited about receiving book two at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy by either the author, publisher or narrator via audiobook blast dot com.
Changeling is a fast paced archeology thriller that weaves in actual conspiracy theories which makes the story both entertaining and eerie. From the beginning to the end, it is full of non-stop action, and plenty of plot twists.
I have not listened to the Dane Maddock Adventures yet, but from reading other Audible member's reviews, it sounds like Jade was not a likable character in that series. However, in the Jade Ihara series, she is turning out to be one heck of a "Lara Croft," and I really like how she, and the "Professor" work together.
If you like conspiracies theories, and archeology, this story will be a good fit, and I do recommend it.
I have mixed feelings about this book
    Any additional comments?
Took awhile to get through this book. It wasn't bad but it really didn't hold my attention. I received this audiobook for free through Audiobook Blast for my unbiased review.
    More Professor plz
Would you consider the audio edition of Changeling to be better than the print version?
I always enjoy the audio version of books if the narrator is great, which Jeffrey Kafer is. He is one of my favorites.
Would you be willing to try another book from David Wood and Sean Ellis ? Why or why not?
Absolutely. Even tho I was not into this particular series as much as others, it was a good story and worth the listen.
    Which scene was your favorite?
When Jade fell into the water filled cavern. The descriptions of "seeing" other beings while trying to find a way to escape was very well done. My true favorite in this story was the Professor, I wanted more scenes with him.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    Nothing too extreme.
    Any additional comments?
This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review
    Action packed
What did you like best about Changeling? What did you like least?
Jade, she was a solid character, strong, smart, determined, and I liked the Professor too.

The latest Tom Clancy Jack Ryan adventure thriller written by Mark Greaney, Clancy's last and most successful collaborator.
Abandoned by other international leaders, Jack Ryan alone counters the threat posed by Russian president Valeri Volodin. This isn't the first time that the dictator has threatened world peace, but this time he's playing a very nuanced game, moving chess pieces around the board while isolating Ryan from the rest of the international community.
Fortunately, Jack Ryan, Jr. and the rest of his Campus team find themselves in the middle of action with a vital clue to the Russian's intentions.
    Members Reviews:
Great book, in the spirit of Tom Clancy
What did you like most about Tom Clancy Commander in Chief: Jack Ryan, Book 11?
I read reviews before I bought this, some of which were critical of the story being slow. I've been an avid Tom Clancy fan since way back and I have to say I find Mark Greaney's style just as engaging. I didn't think it was slow. Sure, there's detail, but I like that. The story switches to different sub plots quite often, but not so much it gets irritating at all. There's plenty of action in my opinion and the build towards the climax is very well done, really good tension.
Who was your favorite character and why?
All of the Campus operators are favourites. I like the way that they're portrayed as human and not superhuman. They make mistakes, but overall are a great team.
What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?
I've listened to Scott Brick narrate other stories and when reading Clive Cussler I don't take to the accent that he uses. I have to say that in this story though, he is really good. I like his delivery and pace and think he's a great choice
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    No
    Any additional comments?
All in all a great book. Quite lengthy, but I was still sorry when it was over!
    Not the best
A good listen but perhaps a little formulaic? A little over the top receivable too.
    Love these books
    Any additional comments?
I personally love these books and love following the team, most books i get are only 8-10 hours and this being twice that was great and kept me following through to the end a definite 5 star review from me. Waiting for the next one! Keep it up Mark
    One of the best
Mark Greaney has crafted a brilliant plot, neatly interwoven with current world events. Crossing this with the Campus has led to a fantastic book. The plot is somewhat predictable but the overall feel of the book is no less diminished by it. I thoroughly recommend this book to read.
    great story
Great story well read. Kept me interested all the way through. Looking forward to the next one.

    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Espionage
    Publisher's Summary:
This captivating historical thriller brings back Marian Sutro, ex-special operations agent, and traces her romantic and political exploits in post-World War II London, where the Cold War is about to reshape old loyalties.
As Allied forces close in on Berlin in spring 1945, a solitary figure emerges from the wreckage that is Germany. It is Marian Sutro, whose existence was last known to her British controllers in autumn 1943 in Paris. One of a handful of surviving agents of the Special Operations Executive, she has withstood arrest, interrogation, incarceration, and the horrors of Ravensbruck concentration camp, but at what cost? Returned to an England she barely knows and a postwar world she doesn't understand, Marian searches for something on which to ground the rest of her life. Family and friends surround her, but she is haunted by her experiences and by the guilt of knowing that her contribution to the war effort helped lead to the monstrosities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. When the mysterious Major Fawley, the man who hijacked her wartime mission to Paris, emerges from the shadows to draw her into the ambiguities and uncertainties of the Cold War, she sees a way to make amends for the past and at the same time to find the identity that has never been hers.
A novel of divided loyalties and mixed motives, Tightrope is the complex and enigmatic story of a woman whose search for personal identity and fulfillment leads her to shocking choices.
    Members Reviews:
    Interesting. but disjointed
Would you listen to Tightrope again? Why?
No. It's an interesting book about interesting times but a little too long and disjointed into 3 overlapping stories
Would you recommend Tightrope to your friends? Why or why not?
I would only if they are interested (as I am) in the consequences and outwash of WW II.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    No
    Any additional comments?
This book is actually 3 separate stories: the first is about espionage and punishment behind the lines in WW II; the second is about recovery from the horrors of war and the post traumatic stress disorder that a recovery must confront; the third part then shifts to espionage in the Cold War, an entirely different setting. These are all interesting topics and handled persuasively by Wawer but because of the separate trajectories, the book seemed disjointed to me and too long.
Repetitive - A sequel that should stand alone.
This novel is #2 (Trapeze introduces us to Marian and her exciting lifestyle)
It was ok - even though I wasn't exactly thrilled by Tightrope, it was still an ok novel that explorers some pretty deep and dark themes. my problem - I guess - was that I was expecting a novel similar in theme to the first. A little action, a little intrigue, suspense and fun spy knowledge and terminology. instead of all of that, I listened to a story that was wholly character driven with a slow plot lacking true suspense.
Passages in this novel were quite repetitive - on more than one ocassion, I think the author used "copy + paste" because characters would describe an event or person word for word from just a few chapters prior. it doesn't seem like a big deal, but trust me, it happens enough to make you almost want to roll your eyes.
I had a hard time liking (or connecting) or even admiring any character in this one - which is different from the first.
