    I love this!
I've been listening to the whole upside down Magic series after my friend told me how GOOD they are. She was right. I LOVE the way this was written. Also that it's a quick read, GREAT for just a bit before bed!!
    Pretty Great
I loved how the voices had emotion and were not just normal calm voices, when I closed my eyes I could actually imagine everything happening which I cannot always do. The voices could have been better and more distinct but overall the story and the performance was very phenomenal compared to other narrated fiction adventures.

Landon Dorch longs to play football, and he is definitely built for the game. Unfortunately two things stand in his way: his mother's worries and the fact that he is deaf. Landon hopes that the family's move to a new town will offer him a fresh start and that he can leave behind the teasing and taunts that marred life at his former school. But his speech problems and his cochlear implants seem to invite bullying.
Luckily he is not without help, starting with his loving and quirky family and then a great new friend on the team. Even so, in the end it will be up to Landon himself to battle his way past bullies and misunderstandings until he is no longer left out. Author Tim Green scores again with this masterful and heartwarming story of family and football!

Great story but Frustrating and too long developin
Very frustrating. this book took too long trying to establish the main character as a deaf person but not a special needs kid only to have the character act like a scared 2nd grader. I believe that Landon would be a much stronger character and not so weak in real life. The story spent too much time with everybody beating him down and him just taking it that when he finally did gain his strength it was anti-climactic. Just too frustrating of a character. Everytime Landon did something I found myself saying there's no way he would act that way. maybe it's just my opinion and I love Tim's writing I just found this one taking too long to develop I would have liked to have seen Landon come to his strength little earlier and go through the football season instead we didn't even get to finish the first game he played in and we don't know for sure that his team even won the game.. it just aluded too the fact. Too slow developing and too quick of an ending. At least finish the game and give a prologue about how everything ended. Just no satisfaction. Football genius is an excellent series though

    Publisher's Summary:
"We all have scars only we can own."
When Robert Hoge was born, he had a tumor the size of a tennis ball in the middle of his face and short, twisted legs. Surgeons removed the tumor and made him a new nose from one of his toes. Amazingly, he survived - with a face that would never be the same.
Strangers stared at him. Kids called him names, and adults could be cruel, too. Everybody seemed to agree that he was "ugly". But Robert refused to let his face define him. He played pranks, got into trouble, had adventures with his big family, and finally found a sport that was perfect for him to play.
Then Robert came face to face with the biggest decision of his life.
This life, this funny, moving, and true story of an ordinary boy with an extraordinary face, is perfect for fans of Wonder and shows how what makes us "ugly" also makes us who we are.

The New York Times best-selling series soars to even greater heights with a new prophecy and five new dragonets ready to claim their destiny!
Peace has come to Pyrrhia - for now.
The war between the tribes is finally over, and now the dragonets of the prophecy have a plan for lasting peace: Jade Mountain Academy, a school that will gather dragonets from all the tribes and teach them to live together, perhaps even as friends. Moonwatcher isn't sure how she feels about school, however.

And when someone starts attacking dragons within the academy, Moon has a choice to make: stay hidden and safe? Or risk everything to save her new friends?

    Dragons you can believe in.
I have purchased and am listening to all of these books. I will write a more thorough review of the first five books. Currently I am working my way through books 6-10. The details and story development are excellent. The dragons have so much character and there is such a variety - they might as well be human. The detailed development of each of the tribes of dragons was masterfully done. Each has its own colors, own talents, own special abilities, very distinct diets and environments. There was a lot of thought put into these books.
The books are great for young adult - which is their target audience. My one complaint - the first several books were excellent - with good stories and involved plots. The last couple However seem barely more than glorified short stories. This one in particular - there is only one plot line. A new school opens after the war - with the intention of drawing the tribes closer together and ending future conflicts. Before the school is two days old - dragons are dead and the survivors are dispersing with a variety of missions. Each of those mission may become worthy of a book - however, I feel this story should have been the first couple of chapters in a much longer book. The fact that the audience is young adults or youth - isnt any excuse for the brevity. Young people are capable of reading books in much greater length and detail. I feel I have wasted my audible credits. After the first two - I thought these books would be worthy of the credits I spend to get them. I am very disappointed at this point. These could have been up there with Harry Potter books - but the lure of easy money has cheapened the books while greatly increasing the cost to the individual reader.
    Amazing!
I LOVED this book! It was amazing! The story was really nice, and the performance deserved a five star!
    Books about dragons
Great book and series. I love to read about dragons. Audible is fantastic. Thank you
    Great new perspectives
Really good to listen to because you can hear the perspectives of different dragons seeing dragons that you already know from other books
    It was awsome
Everything was amazing, the voices, the reading and ofcourse the absolutely intense and cool story.

    Publisher's Summary:
Today's young listeners will truly be enchanted by this version of the Brothers Grimm classic, set in an American frontier. As she sets out to visit her grandmother's house deep in the woods, Little Red Riding Hood has no idea what is in store for her. She soon suspects that her basket of sweets isn't the only thing her new friend the wolf is after! With the help of a brave hunter and her grandmother, Little Red learns a valuable lesson about following her mother's instructions.
    Members Reviews:
    several non-traditional elements
The art work is better than most. There is several non-traditional elements to this version. IE the woodsman calls the wolf "sinner"
Before he dispatches him and cuts out granny and Lil' hood... The inclusion of the word evokes a moral tone and seems like a non-sequitur. IT IS a morality tale but the wolfs morality should be static, and needs to be static, to dialogue about Little red's trail obedience. Weither he "sins" (missing the mark in archery) or not he is a WOLF who eats red meat, it's his nature. SEE the title 'little red riding hood and the sweet little wolf'
Beautiful pictures and sticks true to the original storyline
A bautiful book. note, its a longer tale and more appropriate for 5 and older. Beautiful pictures and sticks true to the original storyline. If you don't mind the sight of a hunter with a gun then you will be ok with this book.
    Perfect for Halloween!
I'm a nanny. I got this for my kids for Halloween. I remember reading an edition almost exactly like this one when I was little! Its the perfect amount of "scary" for my kids, but might not be a great fit for all young children, depending on their sensitivity. This is the traditional tale of the wolf eating the grandmother and the girl and the huntsman cutting them out of his belly, complete with pictures. It was fine for us, but I know some families for whom this would have been "too much too soon."
This is only the disc. The revoews and product details were misleading.
I read through the reviews and product details and was led to believe that this would be the book and disc. We only received the disc. I can't figure out where to get the book now. We love the story and wish we had the book as well. I would love to rate this item higher, but the misleading information prevents me from doing so. If you plan on purchasing the book and read along disc. This item is not that.
    Four Stars
it is well written and the illustration is beautiful. I wish it was made with more durable material.

    Publisher's Summary:
Serafina's defeat of the Man in the Black Cloak has brought her out of the shadows and into the daylight realm of her home, Biltmore Estate. Every night, she visits her mother in the forest, eager to learn the ways of the catamount. But Serafina finds herself caught between her two worlds: She's too wild for Biltmore's beautifully dressed ladies and formal customs and too human to fully join her kin.
Late one night Serafina encounters a strange and terrifying figure in the forest and is attacked by the vicious wolfhounds that seem to be under his control. Even worse, she's convinced that the stranger was not alone, that he has sent his accomplice into Biltmore in disguise.
Someone is wreaking havoc at the estate. A mysterious series of attacks test Serafina's role as Biltmore's protector, culminating in a tragedy that tears Serafina's best friend and only ally, Braeden Vanderbilt, from her side. Heartbroken, she flees.
Deep in the forest, Serafina comes face-to-face with the evil infecting Biltmore - and discovers its reach is far greater than she'd ever imagined. All the humans and creatures of the Blue Ridge Mountains are in terrible danger. For Serafina to defeat this new evil before it engulfs her beloved home, she must search deep inside herself and embrace the destiny that has always awaited her.
    Members Reviews:
    Fierce, with Heart
I love checking out these books as potential gifts for my Grandchildren - and in the "Serafina" series by Robert Beatty, I have found a winner.
Like "The Hunger Games" and even the Harry Potter series, these books do have a lot of violence, and that may and should be of concern to all of us. However, as in the kids' books mentioned, there is also a lot of energy, action, good writing, and heart! The message here is sound.
Beatty finds an appealing blend of the real (the Vanderbilt estate in North Carolina, with its Blue Ridge Mountain surroundings), the fantastic (rooted in Mountain folklore), and the coming-of-age tale. Serafina is growing up, and her longing for companionship, love, and acceptance reflect the traditional format for middle-reader-to-teen fiction. This child is truly different, and she has so far lived in isolation and confusion about her origins and her place in the world. Now, she has a chance for friendship, belonging, and usefulness. Who wouldn't fall in love with such a character, be they girl, boy, child, teen, adult, or grandmother?
I think the Serafina books are true cross-over tales that anyone who appreciates a good, sometimes scary fantasy will enjoy. There's an American history lesson here, and a respect for local legend and identity. I think parents (and grandparents, of course) can highly recommend both the Serafina tales (the first is "Serafina and the Black Cloak") for their favorite, somewhat intrepid, 10+ years'-old readers.
Even better, families could enjoy reading or listening to these books together!
    loved it
I absolutely loved this book, I think more so than the first book. Very exciting through out and I just couldn't stop!
    Better then book 1.
A must read. I bought 4 more to share with friends and family. Enjoy this read.
Even better than the first one!
if it's even possible, I love the Serafina story even more! it was a great read, filled with twists and turns.
