I might be 59 but this is a touching story that anyone 12-100 can appreciate!
    Great YA book
The third in the summer series was great--what I expect to close out the trilogy. I gave the story 4 stars for a few reasons: (not really SPOILERS ahead, but just in case, consider yourself warned. )
-Jeremiah seemed to have taken on a new personality--what happened to the sweet kid from the previous installment?
-We are supposed to accept that Belli and Conrad had a much deeper relationship that previous told in the earlier book, so the arc that their relationship takes in this one is a little jarring.
-The story ends a little abruptly. I would like to have known a few more details in the intervening years.
All in all, a great experience, though. I enjoyed the series and would recommend it to any YA....or adult!
    Summer Trilogy
What did you like best about We'll Always Have Summer? What did you like least?
This story was the 2nd book in the trilogy. I didn't like how this story took forever to finish.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Jessica Almasy?
I loved the narrator. She has a way of making you feel like you are there in the story.
    awesome read
best story in a long time. 3rd book to a fantastic 3 book series. i wish there wad a fourth book for how Gerry moves on
    So good. True love
The perfect story of true love, family and heartbreak. The characters almost walk off the page, so to speak, like you know them. Well written and performed.

    Disappointing
What a letdown, to be following a series that was like Indiana Jones meets Mission Impossible, and for it to come to an end like a wet towel thrown in the sand. Did Horowitz just give up? It felt that way. I had to rewind the first hour of this book five times, because it was so mind numbing, I couldn't retain anything that was going on. In fact, Alex Rider didn't even show up until 2 1/2 hours into the audio (about a third of the physical book). It starts with a long, ridicuous epic of back story and bad-guy plotting. So now we know what the bad guys are planning and we get to sit through the rest of the book watching the good guys fall into the trap. There weren't even any surprises. There is a bit of tragedy toward the end, but it was lost on me. Alex's relationships were not strong enough to feel remorse for characters we saw very little of. There was also a distinct absence of MI6. In the past books, there was always someone watching Alex's back, even if he didn't know it and even if they lost sight at some times. Here, MI6 just threw him into Egypt and walked away. No followup, no progress check, no security. There was Smithers and he's always cool. But no real direction from the agency. A good chunk of the book did keep me engaged, but I couldn't figure out where it was all going. In the end, it went nowhere. The ending was pretty flat. I feel a little cheated.
Pretty good. Makes you feel what is happening.
I liked this book because it has a really good story. Definitely has good narration. The narrator has the perfect voice for this story. I recommend this book.
    It's a challenge
It take awhile to get to the interesting part of the book. After you're there, the hours fly by.
    MORE OF THE SAME
I have listened to 4 hours of this just to find the same gross, STUPID MI6 People pulling Alex around and Alex taking it. I Had hoped that Mr. Horowitz would give us something new. But no. We get a rewarmed plot full of train wrecks.
How is it possible for British Intelligence NOT to know that a MAJOR criminal ecapes from prison?? Dose Mr Horowitz think WE are that dumb?? Lost interest after this. I am sure that Mr. Horowitz will pull something out of this, but for me I am tired of this same thing. And Killing Jack to get the story going was in poor taste.
I am sure that this review will not be well received, but for the last book, that Audible had us wait for, I just expected better.
    A-MAZE-ZING!!!
    Any additional comments?
I will not lie. I love this series! It's fast, enjoyable, most of the time believable (as believable as 007) but overall touching. Smithers is my favorite character, and the villains are easy/fun to hate.

    Publisher's Summary:
It's been three years since the devastating accident... three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life forever.
Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Juilliard's rising star and Adam is L.A. tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock-star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia's home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future - and each other.
Told from Adam's point of view in the spare, lyrical prose that defined If I Stay, Where She Went explores the devastation of grief, the promise of new hope, and the flame of rekindled romance.
    Members Reviews:
    Groovy and the Geek
This is a very touching and poignant sequel to "If I Stay"- richly detailed and told with heart as the story reveals the truth for Adam and Mia in alternating slices of the past and present. In an interesting turn, this follow-up is narrated with gut-punching honesty from Adams perspective. The author keeps her reader in suspense until late in the story and does not make it predictable as to how things will actually turn out for the two main characters. The audio production is better than good, they engaged just the right voice to portray Adam...it is pretty much exactly what I would imagine he sounds like. A don't miss, in my opinion, particularly if you are a fan of the original story.
Can you love someone enough to let them go?
I feel like words are so inadequate to describe the way I felt about this book. A facial expression or some kind of half-squeel half-sob feels more appropriate. But Ill do my best to explain in words how completely and utterly wonderful this book is.
Where She Went is told from Adams point of view..and boy is he damaged battle scars in his words. Poor guy doesnt even know why Mia left him. My heart ached for Adam half the time and the other half I was seriously pissed at him because he was just acting childish i.e. throwing tantrums and some of the err..activities that he was engaging ugh, I mean I get it dude..your heart is broken but really?
The story telling method is similar to If I Stay in that it goes back and forth between the present and past. However, alot of the past memories were ones from the relationship between Adam and Mia and it was SO GOOD to see more of their relationship (since Mias flashbacks werent just about Adam).
I really connected with Adam, which is weird because I am rarely able to connect with a male character. (It took me more than half of The Maze Runner before I could get into it because its told from Thomas perspective.)
Ultimately Where She Went is about Adam asking himself this one question:
Can you love someone enough to let them go?
    Wow...
This book is simply amazing. Written beautifully... several times I could feel/hear/taste/smell/see everything that was going on. I felt like I was there with Adam. He broke my heart. Mia broke my heart. I listened to this book at work and got really tired of explaining to people WHY I was crying. I cried from sorrow, and joy. I laughed.
I was unsure of this one initially, cause I loved the first one so much. Could it really live up to the original? Absolutely. And seeing it from a different perspective was beyond brilliant!
    Loved it!
"Where She Went" definitely surprised me in how much I ended up enjoying it.

Tender story involving mentally ill mother
Beautifully written story of a young boy's love and endless devotion to his mother who struggles with manic episodes and mental illness.
    perfect
    I love this story
the reader was fantastic he showed emotion and I felt like I was in Jacks shoes sometimes
    Unexpectedly hopeful and satisfying
This is a lovely, hopeful read about, Jack, an 11-year-old boy who finds himself abandoned at a Maine campground while on vacation with his mom. When I chose to read this book, I didn't realize the reason his mom left him was due to her mental illness; had I known, I'm not sure I would have chosen this book (expecting it to be too heart wrenching). I'm glad I read "Small as an Elephant" though -- it captures the resilience and hope that sometimes only children have, and their ability to forgive. As Jack tries to make his way back to the home he shares with his mom in Massachusetts, he experiences hunger, homelessness, fear of being found and concern about the repercussions of his mom's departure on his life. Through it all, Jack persists and endures... he is inspired by his knowledge of elephants and their traits. I don't want to give away the ending -- like the rest of the story, it is hopeful and satisfying. I listened to this as an audiobook, and found the narration made the story come alive. I highly recommend Small as an Elephant: It's an interesting, satisfying children's book with appeal for readers of all ages.
    the book is amazing
This book made me sit up and read it it had everything I liked in it like it was adventures and sad it just amazing even though I like game and thought It would be a boring book but this book made me cry because it was over.
    Great story. So-so Narrator.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did. I grew up with an undiagnosed bipolar single mother. This book is a great story about mental illness and the love of a child for their parent, no matter what the parent puts them through. How forgiving children are is astonishing. I could relate with Jack. From beginning to end, I felt a kindred spirit. I felt his pain and worry and fear. His drive to survive mirrored my own growing up.
    Any additional comments?
Great heart tugging story. Give it a chance.

It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't."
Lauren Oliver astonished readers with her stunning debut, Before I Fall. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly called it "raw, emotional, and, at times, beautiful. An end as brave as it is heartbreaking." Her much-awaited second novel fulfills her promise as an exceptionally talented and versatile writer.
Also included is a sneak listen to the first chapter of the next book in the series. Enjoy!
    Members Reviews:
    Excellent narration
My colleague Emily recommended Delirium to me - it was one of her picks for the Best of 2011, and she raves about the book at every opportunity. While I didn't love the book as much as she does, I did find it entertaining. I was impressed with the concept - that love is a disease that everyone needs to be cured of - but found myself growing a bit impatient with our heroine, Lena, who took a little too long to put together that the government's restrictions were not in her best interest. And while the pace picked up in the last hour or so, which was exciting, it also accelerated Lena's transition from a young, naive girl to a mature enemy of the government in a forced way.
Despite these criticisms, I did enjoy the book - and, more importantly, I loved Sarah Drew's performance. She was able to channel all the different nuances of this full cast, and was especially chilling as Lena's already cured sister. Drew's performance alone might get me to check out the rest of this trilogy...
    Delicious Narration
I loved this book -- the positive reviews are warranted. This is one of those books that falls into the category of "must listen to instead of reading" where I feel listening enhances the experience to the max. The narration was superb and the tone of Alex and Lenas voices -- so real and appealing. The concept is slightly dystopian, where love is not allowed in America (strictly enforced), which caught my attention. The storyline is not predictable, as it could easily be.....I thought I knew where it was headed, but I'd be proven wrong every time. Although a YA book -- definitely would appeal to those of ALL ages -- especially women --but I think boys and girls would enjoy it equally. What a great listen !
    Engaging story, entertaining narration
While a young adult novel, it certainly has plenty of questions to ponder for adults. I think the author did a wonderful job capturing the angst and emotionality of first love as did the narrator. I considered using it for a book club choice because I thought the discussions would have been quite interesting.
Other reviewers felt it may be too similar to other current popular YA fiction.

When Ginny receives13 little blue envelopes and instructions to buy a plane ticket to London, she knows something exciting is going to happen. What Ginny doesn't know is that she will have the adventure of her life, and it will change her in more ways than one. Life and love are waiting for her across the Atlantic, and the 13 little blue envelopes are the key to finding them in this funny, romantic, heartbreaking novel.
    Members Reviews:
    Mediocre Story
The idea of a teenage girl receiving 13 envelopes that take her on a European adventure where she gains confidence in herself sounded like a great book idea, but this story didn't work. The plot was rather unrealistic (no parental involvement the whole time?) and her experiences were just not exciting enough. The narration seemed stiff, which didn't help. A big snooze.
    Fantastic story
I loved this book and I'm afraid this review won't do it justice. Virginia (Ginny) is a good kid. She doesn't get into trouble, she gets good grades, and she follows the rules. Yes, she knows that she is shy, even with her aunt Peg (who she loves wholeheartedly), but she's okay with that. When her aunt Peg dies and leaves her a stack of envelopes with travel instructions, Ginny reluctantly begins following the path they describe.
I thought I'd have a harder time with Ginny than I actually did. She's pretty passive and that always bugs me. And I thought I'd have a harder time with Aunt Peg than I actually did. She's pretty aggressive and that always bugs me. Fortunately, Maureen Johnson doesn't take any of the easy paths or settle for obvious "lessons" with her characters so what we end up with is a rich exploration of growth, friendship, relationships, and family with just the right pacing of events to move the story along.
One of the strengths of the book is that Johnson didn't deify Aunt Peg the way that books like this seem tempted to do. She wasn't some genius artistic mastermind engineering the education and betterment of her niece. Her plan has flaws, some obvious, some subtle, and part of Ginny's journey is coming to terms with the flawed human being her Aunt turns out to be.
Another strength of the book is that Ginny doesn't learn all the obvious lessons from her journey, either. Ginny needs to learn to be comfortable with herself, to have confidence, and to be open to meeting new people. Being a smart girl, she knows this and is prepared to follow-through on Aunt Peg's crazy pilgrimage. But the things Ginny experiences aren't as clear-cut as all that. Some of exploring your world ends up reinforcing your preconceived notions rather than abating them and sometimes the lessons Ginny learns aren't even close to what Aunt Peg intended.
And I really liked the two men who end up dominating Ginny's experiencesone introduced directly by Aunt Peg's instructions and the other a happy accident. No, this is not a romantic triangle and for that I am deeply grateful. Richard is my favorite (he's the not-love-interest). He is reliable and honest and grieving the passing of Aunt Peg in his own way. Fortunately, his grief is the unselfish kind that turns his attentions to helping Ginny any way that he can. He was endearing and drew me into the novel, particularly at the end.
I really can't say more without ruining key aspects of the book.

    Book #3, not #2
Just a cautionary note for listeners wanting to start this series, "The Truth of the Matter" is actually the third book in the "Homelanders" series, not the second as it's listed as.
Book #2 is titled "The Long Way Home" but it isn't available on Audible yet.
Book #1 is titled "The Last Thing I Remember" and IS on Audible.
    Great Book, Good Storyline!
I got sucked into these books after listening to book 1 with my son. I just finished book 3 and he is just starting book 2. I have really enjoyed ALL of them.
They have a really wholesome and positive storyline wrapped into the suspense. The narrator is good... highly recommend for teenagers AND adults.

    Not Just For Kids!
The main character is a teen-ager, but the book held this grandmother's interest every step of the way. My only complaint is that it didn't really resolve anything at the end. Most books that have sequels usually sort of tie things up, so that each book can stand alone. This was more like part one of a single book. It actually ended right in the middle of a situation, just leaving the reader hanging. I felt as if I'd bought a book and suddenly discovered someone had torn out the last few chapters. Or, as if I was watching a movie on tv and the power went off, leaving me frustrated that I didn't know how it ended. Having said all that, I will definitely be buying the sequels. I just hate that it's going to cost two credits to basically listen to one book. Or maybe three credits, depending on how the second book ends.
I can't wait to see what happens next
The story was very engrossing. I am very intrigued by how the main character wound up in the situation he is in. Ii'd say more but don't want to give anything away. If you like mysteries, this is compelling.
    Riveting story
I don't have a whole lot to add that the item description doesn't already say, but the story is a nail-biting adventure that keeps the listener on edge. Swanson's performance is excellent. Even though this series is considered YA, adults will love it to for the suspense and action.
    Who can you trust?
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense and puzzles.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Charlie West, was of course the best character.
Have you listened to any of Joshua Swansons other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first time I heard Joshua Swanson perform and I was impressed.
    Any additional comments?
Charlie West is put through the ringer and throughout the book I kept hoping for some relief for him. In a way, he is like James Bond in that he has some great talents but he needs his brains to put those talents to his best advantage. Unlike Bond, he has no backup. There is no country, no spy network, to support him. He is totally on his own...at least at this point. I can't wait to listen to the next installment.
    Highly recommend
Great action packed YA story, I think adults and teens will both be glad they bought this story.

    Members Reviews:
    Fantastic!
This book was engaging and I can't wait for the next one. The only reason it may have been difficult to follow is because, the book is written from the dead sisters perspective. Soo There are twins who were separated at birth, one went into foster care, the other one was murdered and is now a ghost. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing the whole time. Pay attention and you will love it!
    Addictive
    Any additional comments?
This series is really addictive and while I had guessed pretty quickly who the killer was I really wanted to listen to the rest of the series-- hear how it played out-- and confirm my suspicions. This is not at all like the short lived television series.
Interesting enough for an adult to hear...
Would you consider the audio edition of The Lying Game to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version of this book, so I am unsure of the difference.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Cassandra Morris?
Perhaps. Listening to this one sometimes made me feel like I was trapped in a 15 year old's conversation...which was sort of annoying.
    Any additional comments?
The story was interesting. I enjoyed the story enough to really consider listening to the next one. The concept of the Lying Game was certainly different, and there were enough twists and turns to keep it good.
    The Lying Game
Would you listen to The Lying Game again? Why?

    She did great w/them all
    Love this series so much!!
Where does The Lying Game rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I really don't know. I love books so much that I have a hard time telling which I like better.
What other book might you compare The Lying Game to and why?
Hmm, hard one. I would probably compare it to any mystery/chick lit novel out there.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I loved the scene where Emma tells Ethan who she really is, thus making him help her.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Emma realised her only family member is dead. That touched me a lot. The way she felt, really made me sad for her.
    Any additional comments?
I think this book is really awesome. Forget about the TV Show. This is so much better.
