    Over The Top?
This book is over-the-top in an Indiana Jones Temple of Doom way. It's the least believable book in the series so far. I couldn't stand listening to the characterization of Mike Fink. But actually, his characterization kind of fits the whole book to me, too big, too noisy, and just plain unbelievable. I actually laughed out loud at the preposterous nature of a big scene near the end.
Note to writer/editor: You cannot have a verbal reading of a journal entry that the person never wrote down and it was only in their mind!
I have loved all of the previous books in this series. So, I'm going to listen to one more. If it doesn't redeem the series for me, I'll stop there. Also, if they don't either consumate their relationship or break it cleanly in the next book, I'm going to be quite unhappy. Enough is enough I say.
    Hilarious in places
While I've LOVED the Bloody Jack series to date and Katherine Kellgren's performance, this wasn't one of my favorites on either account. The story was a bit too long with too many mishaps and I didn't like Ms. Kellgren's portrayal of some of Jacky's wilderness "friend" (for lack of a better word). Every time Mike Fink spoke I had to cringe just a little.
What I loved about this story, was Jaimy Fletcher's travel down the Allegheny, Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. When he was coming up with wording for the U.S.A. acronym I was absolutely doubled over in laughter. I couldn't wait to get back to Jaimy's story to hear what he came up with next. Poor Jaimy - he simply could not catch a break in this book.
If you are reading/listening to this series, you cannot skip this book. It is very good - just not my favorite.
    Enjoy!
    Kellgren does it again!
I am a 40-yr old fan of this series. I read book 3, but did audio for 1,2 & 4, and let me tell you, I wish I had done it for #3 - I really felt I missed out on something! Kellgren is impossibly brilliant in her voicework and narration. If I had read book 4, I would have never heard her take on Mike Fink, and that is very scary, as it is the most annoyingly hilarious thing thus far in the series...or as funny as hearing mam'selle call Jacky "preciousssss". I now walk around saying "Well, helloooooo, preciousssssss", but no one understands.
    Weak Link of the Series
If you're a fan, stick with it and move on to the next one, they get better again. They're formulaic and silly, but enjoyable. This particular book and the narration were the weak link in the series, I challenge anyone to not cringe while hearing the narrator voice the character of Mike Fink in this book.
The last of the good ones
Truthfully, this is the last of the bloody jack series that I really like after this one the stories just were not that good to me.
But they are worth listening to. The narrator of all the bloody jack stories is really great.

And while the newspapers call Penelope's social-climbing best friend, Carolina Broad, an heiress, her fortune - and her fame - are anything but secure, especially now that one of society's darlings is slipping tales to the eager press.
In this next thrilling installment of Anna Godbersen's bestselling Luxe series, Manhattan's most envied residents appear to have everything they desire: Wealth. Beauty. Happiness. But sometimes the most practiced smiles hide the most scandalous secrets. . .
    Editorial Reviews:
Lace gloves! Jewelry boxes! Horse-drawn carriages! The intricate games of love and attraction played between the mannered upper class and the swarthy servant class below. Is this Jane Austen? No, its Envy, the third installment of Anna Godbersons The Luxe series of young adult novels, set primarily in Manhattan at the turn of the 20th century.
Performed in a sly, crisp tone by actress Nina Siemaszko, Envy continues its saga of the sisters Elizabeth and Diana Holland, two upper class young women who are as wily as they are driven by their passions. Now, scandal attends Diana as her true love catches her with another man, and a well-known socialites fortunes are showing cracks. Jane Austen might be amused.

gosh the story turns and this record is HORRBLE
As for book 4 in the lux series - it is a good tale. However this recording is of the worst quality. It sounds like it was taken from a CD and not well edited.

Charged with building up relations between the U.S. military and the Iraqi people, a team of soldiers strives to make real connections and bridge the divide between two very different cultures. On constant guard from frequent suicide bomb attacks and deadly skirmishes, their situation reveals a tragic human toll.

Excellent, moving account of soldiers' lives.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The author describes the lives of soldiers in Iraq, members of a squad of civil affairs soldiers, in 2003. They are working to "win the hearts and minds" of Iraqi citizens, but their job is no less dangerous than many other soldiers because it is rarely clear who is friend and who is foe. The ambiguity is exasperating and often dangerous. In simple but clear language, the story is told in first person through experiences and through letters back home. The dialogue is realistic as it is often very humorous. I was finally able to start to grasp how it might feel to experience life as a soldier in Iraq. For me, it was eye-opening and very worthwhile.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the use of the language and the realism of the dialogue. Instead of using persistent swear words, the author simply showed us the frustration, confusion, the comradship and the cynical humor that men who are constantly together often use. The protagonist, Robin, is often pensive, observing as he is participating, trying to think things through.
    Which scene was your favorite?
    I liked all the scenes.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I would have if I could have. The narrator set the perfect tone for the story. Very well done.
    Any additional comments?
Very highly recommended. I will certainly be looking for any other books by this same author.
    no surprise
This is an interesting first hand story from a soldier who learned tht war is never as romantic as it seems.
    Still Waiting....
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I just kept waiting for something to happen. There was nothing that really made me connect with the main character.
What could Walter Dean Myers have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
More character development. The underlying conflict between the soldier and his father never developed fully.
Was Sunrise Over Fallujah worth the listening time?
Sure, but it left me wondering why the book was written/published.
    Any additional comments?
Not the moving account I had hoped for.

How Kaeleigh and Raeanne figure out just what it means to be whole again when their entire world has been torn to shreds is the guts and heart of this powerful, disturbing, and utterly remarkable book.
    Critic Reviews:
"Hopkins' gift with free verse reaches new heights in this portrait of splintered identical twins.... Kaeleigh and Raeanne maintain distinct voices throughout as they wrestle with psychic damage and an astonishing, devastating realization. Sharp and stunning, with a brilliant final page." Great History book for kids
I listened to this with my 11 & 13 year old boys on the way to a civil war reinactment and they loved it. Also a lively discussion at book club. Good growing up. Well written, compelling. lots of things to discuss and information not too graphic. All of the boys in our book club loved it. Excellent intro to the civil war and issues on border states.
Portrays the Reality of the Civil War for Children
The Civil War was such a complex event. It tore the fabric of our nation as well as within families. This is the story of the Civil War as it affected ten year old Jephtha. He was a petted youngest brother at the beginning but had to take over running the farm when his older brothers all went to war. Two of his brothers went to fight for the North and one for the South. A cousin went and fought for the North and after two years of heavy fighting deserted. Jephtha has to wrestle with the issue of who to ask for help in deciding what to do (He ends up writing Lincoln, and getting a personal letter from him.) The reality of war is presented carefully in letters from the front. This lets you know what it was like without putting a child through emotional stress listening to it.
If your family is studying the Civil War, I highly recommend this book. It will give you lots to talk about re the issues of the war.
Terrry Bregy does a good job of reading, although there is this harmonica music that occurs randomly ( not at chapter breaks) that was rather strange.
My children and I enjoyed this book down to and including my 7 year old daughter,
    Excellent book, well read!
This is an excellent book that was well performed by the reader. I highly recommend.
Read It & Love It, especially you history buffs!!!
Loved it. The narration was the key!!!. Perfect for eight graders & beyond & seniors.
    Excellent Rating
For all ages ,for all times
Insightful book on the Civil War that, listened to by families and discussed to understand our country's history, will give a deep appreciation for our 'united' states and the cost to keep it so. This book personalizes the impact of any civil war on a soul. A worthwhile book!

Jumper is a major motion picture released by 20th Century Fox in February 2008.
    Critic Reviews:
"This is a book that you won't want to miss. It reminded me of why I first came to love science fiction, and yet I didn't have to be 12 again to have a great time reading it." (Orson Scott Card)

Does not follow the jumper universe.
Where does Jumper rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Griffin's story is great as a stand-alone book. I first read Jumper in paperback about 20 years ago, but listened to it on Audible after it came out. I picked up Griffin's Story when the movie came out and was surprised by the abandonment of the Jumper Universe. If there's a flaw in Griffin Story, it's in Steven's adapting his Jumper universe to match the movie (Jumper). This novel is not consistant in many details with the universe that appeared in Jumper and Reflex, both excellent books.
Would you recommend Jumper to your friends? Why or why not?
I recommend this book as a stand-alone novel to anyone who hasn't read Jumper.
What about Ted Barkers performance did you like?
Good delivery, good voice, no complaints.
    Any additional comments?
    Definitely worth a credit.
    Definitely NOT for kids
This title is apparently part of the "Audible Childrens Library." Whoever decided to put it there made a huge mistake. This book is full of explicit language, sex, and violence. If books were rated like movies, it would definitely get an "R."
It also is not the same story as the movie. I understand (from reading at Wikipedia) that the movie was very loosely based on an earlier book.
Those things being said, this was a very enjoyable story to listen to. It is one of the better books I've heard in a while. Just don't share it with your kids.
Gr8 Story,But what MORON put this in Audible Kids
This is not a kids story. With Parents and others having their throats slashed in front of their children, blood pooling over the floor and down drains, this book was not something that anyone under latter teenage years needs to read. Certainly not under 14 or 15.
The classification of "Audible Kids" should mean that it is suitable for "kids" not older teen readers.
This is definitely a reminder to us as parents to not just take some company's classification of something before handing off to our kids.
    Jump On This One!
I've downloaded numerous books since joining audible.com, but I don't think I've enjoyed another book as well as I've enjoyed this one. I almost exclusively listen to audiobooks in my car (as a criminal defense attorney practicing in multiple counties, I spend a lot of time on the road). I was repeatedly tempted to take this one into the house or office with me. I found myself looking for ways to get stuck in traffic; if a traffic signal looked like it MIGHT turn yellow, I slowed down.
On rare occasions, I did find myself thinking, "Okay...on with it, already" where I felt the story occasionally bogged down.
