Really enjoyed the unique and romantic story.
feeling giddy and excited like a little girl falling in love for the first time. such a great and magical story.
narrator has amazing talent for voices and very easy to listen to...onto the next book.
    One of my favorites!
I have read/listened to this book so many times I've lost track! Yes, it is super sweetly romantic with a side of some supernatural and action, but that's the part that I love. The narrator does a really good job distinguishing the characters, even though they're not what I heard in my head I like it well enough.
    Couldn't finish...just bad.
I could not finish this book. The narrator is annoying. The characters have no depth. They have no true character development. The love between Maggie and Caleb is so unbelievable and it irritates me. Her absolute belief of the whole imprinting without any doubt just irritated me. And not to mention the author continues tell us about what imprinting is for the majority of the book. I stopped reading after chapter 18. I felt I could use my time better.
LOVED the book - Even better on Audio!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Definitely! Anyone who likes to listen to books at work - it's a very SFW read.
What other book might you compare Significance to and why?
It's a young adult supernatural romance without sparkly vampires or werewolves.
Which character as performed by Cris Dukehart was your favorite?
Absolutely Maggie - her voice was exactly what you'd expect from reading the book, soft, sweet...
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Maggie is kidnapped and all the Ace's are searching for her - you really get the emotions when Caleb finally gets to her.
    Any additional comments?
Grab this up! It's a great book and the audiobook is fantastic!
Too sweet for me, it could have been good
I listened to about 60% and then couldnt stand the sticky sweet draw between maggie and caleb anymore.

there is SO much foul language that
This book afforded me the opportunity to walk in the shoes of someone so completely different from myself who has lived a life I can't even imagine. I appreciated how poignant and real the writing was in its portrayal of inner-city poverty. Unfortunately, there is SO much foul language that, even though that language fits naturally into the setting of the story, I do not feel comfortable adding this book to my classroom library.
Perpetuates the misogynistic agenda, but reflects street life well (I think)
I'm conflicted with this book. While I think that it is a good way to get students who live in these situations to read and probably a pretty accurate representation of their lifestyles, I am disturbed by the perpetuation of the stereotypical way that women are portrayed in this book. There is no question that the double standards for men and women in relationships is hypocritical . It just seems to be accepted as the way it is. Men can do whatever they want and women are held to higher, monogamist standard.
Having said that, the book is an easy read--well written and flows well.
    real...therefore rough
Tyrell is the story set over several weeks of a tough high school dropout in the Bronx. He comes from a down and out family...his father is in prison; his mother is someone who really does belong in Mitt Romney's 47% of the population, a woman who does expect the government to support her. Along with his young brother, the family lives in a roach-infested motel, a temporary dwelling for the homeless. One bright spot in Tyrell's life is his girlfriend Novisha, whose life and family are stable. The novel involves Tyrell's battle to keep his own head and his family's above water, as well as that of a girl named Jasmine who lives at the hotel.
The novel is told from Tyrell's point of view, and is narrated in his dialect. As a result, it spares no punches. The language is often raw; the book does involve sexual and drug-related situations that Tyrell encounters. Be that as it may, Tyrell's story is intriguing, and certainly will attract high school students who wouldn't classify themselves as "readers."
    Genuine
Living in the Bronx, Tyrell is forced into manhood by the re-incarceration of his father and his motherâs inability to accept responsibility. Dealing with horrific emergency housing, Tyrell struggles to find a legal means of supporting his family and to make the ârightâ life decisions about school, relationships and family.

    Publisher's Summary:
As rehearsals begin for the ballet version of Peter Pan, the teenaged members of an Ohio dance troupe lose their focus when one of their own goes missing. The Crystal Pointe Dance Academy is a refuge for the group of students who take classes and participate in dance recitals. Each of them - Diamond, Layla, Mercedes and Justin, the only boy in the group - has a different reason to dance, but they all want to earn a role in the upcoming production of Peter Pan. When Diamond disappears during a routine trip to the mall, the close-knit group is thrown into emotional turmoil that mounts as the days go by. As it turns out, Diamond has been lured by a sexual predator dangling the promise of a movie audition and finds herself in a dire situation.
While the four main characters alternate narration, this is really a two-sided story: Diamond's story of abduction and exploitation, and the everyday concerns her friends face back home. The other dancers face tough situations, from relationship conflicts to a parent returning home after a long incarceration. Diamond's story, though, with elements of suspense and sexual horror, is the more interesting of the two, and listeners will find themselves impatient to get back to her ordeal, which is depicted frankly but with sensitivity. Threading through it all is the importance of the arts as a vehicle to get through tough times.

Best book,So many more to come.
This is a great five star read like so many other books by this author. Even though the characters and story lines aren't true it seemed so real from all three characters stories from the narration it never seemed like Diamond really didn't get kidnapped or abducted, Justin feeling out of place because he's the only male dancer on top of missing his mom and liking Layla even though she's talking or Layla having problems with her abusive boyfriend, dad in jail and having a mother who is always absent. All in all it was a good read.
    realistic and moving
Panic is a tastefully written story about an ugly situation. A teen who is abducted suffers a horrible experience while her friends are desperate to find her. Draper has multiple plots intertwining, touching on sexting, date abuse, incarcerated parents, and pedaphilia. However, her book remains appropriate for mature middle and high school students. My only complaint is that I felt that Draper tried too hard to include up-to-date songs and texting expressions, thereby possibly dating her novel for future generations.
    Panic
this book is very different from other books. Diamond a 15 year old girl, and she gets kidnapped at the mall. Diamonds passion is dance, and it will forever will be. But, will this cruel man poison her mind and quit dance forever?
I will rate this 4 stars because Sharon M. Drapery really gave good detail in the story. Not only to.Diamond but, to all of them. I feel that you could really feel the impact of what Diamond was saying.
    5 stars
Reading this book has open my eye to the danger our kids can go through. This story was very powerful. My 15 years old son introduce me to all your books. I'm looking forward to read more of your bioks. I truly enjoyed it
    Loved this book!
I loved this book because it was well written and it was written by one of my favorite authors. I thought the book was powerful and really good

    Complete Disappointment
Would you try another book from Susan Beth Pfeffer and/or Matthew Josdal?
Matthew Josdal's performance was cringeworthy at best. The book was difficult enough to get through, but his choppy performance and his inability to use voice inflection in the appropriate places added to my frustration with this book.
    Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed the first 3 books in the series but the 4th book really ruined my enjoyment of the series. The story almost seemed like it was written by a completely different author who knew very little of the first 3 books. John's character was completely unrecognizable from the earlier books and the whole plot surrounding the caste system was implausible, especially given the short time span from when the cataclysmic event happened to the time the 4th book commences. I ended up despising John and didn't really care much for Lisa's character either in this book. I honestly wish the 4th book would not have even been written.
Pleasantly surprised after the negative reviews
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, I wanted to hear what had become of the Evans family and it was time to hear John's take on things.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I don't think these post-disaster, dystopian type novels are meant to be enjoyable, they are a commentary on politics and human nature. The last two novels have little love stories within them and I would have liked these to be fleshed out a bit more - not just have characters instantly in-love.
Did Matthew Josdal do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Sure. I didn't find the narration childish at all - maybe a bit clipped but also in keeping with how most teenager boys talk.
Could you see The Shade of the Moon being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
There are so many of these types of movies and TV series out now - this one isn't quite gritty or detailed enough to make it on screen.
    Any additional comments?
Sometimes these types of novels move too quickly and sweep over things - I appreciated the slow pace within each of the novels and the gut wrenching decisions that the main characters had to make. I read that some people didn't like the main character in this novel, I found him realistic for a seventeen year old boy living in those conditions. I liked how his conscience slowly gets the better of him. I actually found his step-mother Lisa hard to understand and/or like.

    Publisher's Summary:
Russel Middlebrook is convinced he's the only gay kid at Goodkind High School. Then his online gay chat buddy turns out to be none other than Kevin, the popular but closeted star of the school's baseball team. Soon Russel meets other gay students, too. There's his best friend Min, who reveals that she is bisexual, and her soccer-playing girlfriend Terese. Then there's Terese's politically active friend, Ike. But how can kids this diverse get together without drawing attention to themselves?
"We just choose a club that's so boring, that nobody in their right mind would ever in a million years join it. We could call it Geography Club!"
Brent Hartinger's debut novel, what became first of a series about Russel Middlebrook, is a fast-paced, funny, and trenchant portrait of contemporary teenagers who may not learn any actual geography in their latest club, but who learn plenty about the treacherous social terrain of high school and the even more dangerous landscape of the human heart. This is Book 1 in the Russel Middlebrook Series.
    Editorial Reviews:
Narrator Josh Hurley's performance has the fervent honesty of a confession, and his narration will resonate with listeners who know what it feels to be different and isolated. High school sophomore Russel Middlebrook is gay and closeted, and it feels like the only time he can really be himself is when he's chatting online with a gay buddy. When that buddy turns out to be the gorgeous star of the school's basketball team, and after his best friend reveals that she's bisexual, Russel begins to realize that he may not be alone, after all. Hurley movingly depicts how Russel's self-protective shell transforms into a voice that is filled with confidence and hope.
    Members Reviews:
    Great narration and timely topic
What made the experience of listening to Geography Club the most enjoyable?
Josh Harley was totally convincing as the voice of Russell.
Would you recommend Geography Club to your friends? Why or why not?
I was drawn to the book after seeing the small independent film version, which I discovered before hearing of the series. As I was reading all four books in the series, my partner, who volunteers with a youth diversity committee at his school, asked about any resources that might be good for teens who are struggling with sexual/gender identity issues. I immediately suggested that we buy a set of the books for the group because (a) they are a bit more contemporary than others, (b) they offer a larger spectrum of diversity than is typical, and (c) the characters are imperfect, like everyone else, yet learn from their experiences. So, yes, I would highly recommend this book (and the subsequent entries in the series) to friends and colleagues.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
They did, and it was a pleasant film, but really fails to really capture the heart of this book, which is about the relationships Russell has during a pivotal time in his life. So, my proposed tag line would be, "Preview to a great series of YA novels!"
    Any additional comments?
I applaud Mr. Hartinger for writing a YA novel that really holds onto the voice of a teen.

Does one need four fully grown foxgloves for decorating a dinner table for six guests? Or is it six foxgloves to kill four fully grown guests?
Sophronia's first year at Mademoiselle Geraldine's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality has certainly been rousing! For one thing, finishing school is training her to be a spy (won't Mumsy be surprised?). Furthermore, Sophronia got mixed up in an intrigue over a stolen device and had a cheese pie thrown at her in a most horrid display of poor manners.
Now, as she sneaks around the dirigible school, eavesdropping on the teachers' quarters and making clandestine climbs to the ship's boiler room, she learns that there may be more to a school trip to London than is apparent at first. A conspiracy is afoot - one with dire implications for both super-naturals and humans. Sophronia must rely on her training to discover who is behind the dangerous plot-and survive the London Season with a full dance card.
In this sequel to bestselling author Gail Carriger's YA debut Etiquette & Espionage, class is back in session with more petticoats and poison, tea trays and treason. Gail's distinctive voice, signature humor, and lush steampunk setting are sure to be the height of fashion this season.
    Members Reviews:
Gail Carriger is truly an author of Quality!
If you could sum up Curtsies & Conspiracies in three words, what would they be?
    Deliciously delightful deceit.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Vieve. The child is truly an evil genius of the highest caliber and everyone has to love an evil genius. Also, Steam. Propelled. Roller. Skates. That is all.
Which character as performed by Moira Quirk was your favorite?
I do not believe I can name just a single character. Moira Quirk is absolutely brilliant. She breaths life into the characters and the world. Listening to this series would not be the same without her.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I laughed out loud at several parts and had more than one moment of concern for the characters throughout. The 'fall' was one of the better scenes in the book. I will not spoil it for all by pontificating further.
    Any additional comments?
If you are reading this then you should be using your credit to purchase this and the previous books immediately. This is one of the best written and performed books on audible. It is a rare mixture of adventure, comedy, supernatural, and steampunk executed with a masters stroke. Each consecutive book from Miss Carriger gets better and better. I guarantee, gentle reader, that you will not be disappointed.
    Excellent Follow-up
    Any additional comments?
Gail Carriger writes another amazing book. If you are new to Gail Carriger's writings, she mixes the supernatural with steampunk Victorian England to produce some really entertaining stories. But what resonates most with me is her hilarious, dry wit. I hope Ms. Carriger writes for a long, long time. The narration is great until Lord Akeldama enters the story. Moira Quirk does not capture Lord Akeldamas character as vividly as Emily Gray does.
    Perfect!
An Audible narrator can often make or break a book: in this case, we have a narrator who really appreciates the nuances of the book and brings all the quirky characters to glorious life.

Mr. Crepsley is the only full vampire that Darren had ever met until Gavner Purl, Vampire General, shows up at the Cirque du Freak. After Purl meets with Mr. Crepsley, Darren is told that he and his mentor will be taking a little break from the freak show and going to live in a city while Crepsley takes care of some business there. Darren is allowed to bring his friend Evra the snake-boy.
At first the city is fun and Darren even meets a girl who becomes his first girlfriend. But then things start going badly, as they always do. Darren and Evra see a news report which says that corpses have been showing up around town corpses with the blood totally drained out! Naturally, Darren and Evra suspect Mr. Crepsley and theyre eager to stop his murderous activities. When they start following him on his nightly forays, they discover a new deadly evil.
Readers who enjoyed the first two CIRQUE DU FREAK books are certain to enjoy Tunnels of Blood. Its another short, fast-moving installment thats gruesome and terrifying. The scariness is nicely offset by some sweet moments of friendship and joy.
In each of the CIRQUE DU FREAK books so far Ive had trouble believing in the events at the plots climax and resolution. This books plot is the most unlikely so far. Darren sets out a plan that is much more likely to be disastrous than to work, and its hard to believe he thought it was a good idea. Another problem is Mr. Crepsleys unnecessary secretiveness which greatly increases the tension but doesnt really make sense. Still, the authors fans are likely to be forgiving of these little issues and, if they are, theyll find Tunnels of Blood to be another exciting high-stress story.
Ralph Listers narration is sometimes brilliant and sometimes awful in Tunnels of Blood.

    Excellent book!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I loved this book! Being African American, sometimes it is difficult for me to indure slavery stories beyond a certain point. What occurred during American slavery was appalling and I find myself becoming so depressed I can not finish the story. I love that Paulsen's book includes the hardship of slavery without making the story too unbearable to stomach. It is honest, yet leaves a sliver of purposeful hope for Sarny through her hero of the story, Nightjohn. I look forward to reading more about Sarny as well as other Paulsen books.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Nightjohn, because he sacrificed freedom to give more to others in bondage.
Which character as performed by Michele-Denise Woods was your favorite?
    Sarny.
    Quick but good.
A quick and powerful insight to the brutal world of American slaves and the determination of the human spirit.
    Review
I though your book was very touching. If you were to write it back when slavery was around it would probably be a big hit.
    Disappointing
I can't like this book because of the insolent attitude of Gary Paulsen toward Thomas Jefferson. Incompetent? Really? Try writing a Declaration of Independence and help to write the greatest constitution of all time before you call someone else incompetent. You may not have liked his personal life, but you weren't there and you don't know all the details. It just turned me off. I am totally 100% against slavery in any form, and none of my ancestors kept slaves. I don't understand anyone who did keep slaves. But I was not there. I do not understand the mentality that allowed such atrocities, and so I will not judge Thomas Jefferson until I have become personally acquainted with him. Since that is not going to happen, I guess I will just have to not judge him.

Regret was for people with nothing to defend, people who had no water.
Lynn knows every threat to her pond: drought, a snowless winter, coyotes, and, most important, people looking for a drink. She makes sure anyone who comes near the pond leaves thirsty or doesn't leave at all.
Confident in her own abilities, Lynn has no use for the world beyond the nearby fields and forest. Having a life means dedicating it to survival and the constant work of gathering wood and water. And, having a pond requires the fortitude to protect it, something Mother taught her well during their quiet hours on the rooftop, rifles in hand.
But wisps of smoke on the horizon mean one thing: strangers. The mysterious footprints by the pond, the nighttime threats, and the gunshots make it all too clear that Lynn has exactly what they want, and they won't stop until they get it....
With evocative, spare language and incredible drama, danger, and romance, debut author Mindy McGinnis depicts one girl's journey in a barren world not so different from our own.

    Excellent, Moody, Atmospheric
Not a Drop to Drink is a grounded, atmospheric, slow burn of a YA (the heroine is 16) novel. Unsparing, it harkens back to the days of the old frontier, when guns carved out a difficult existence for those attempting to settle the land. Although the premise may sound like it is a constant gun battle defending the pond, in reality this is more of a soul searching, moody piece with a good story not needing constant gunfights to carry the plot.
The story is deceptively simple. Lynn and her mother guard a small pond somewhere in Ohio with deadly dedication. Their lives are a constant struggle just to survive in the harsh dystopian landscape where the water has become scarce or poisoned. Wild animals, nature, or human predators are a constant threat that must be dealt with on a day to day basis. But it is an unsustainable existence: eventually, something (or someone) will get through.
The premise and writing are sound and the action at the beginning and the end is very captivating. The romance is downplayed and not the insta-love cliche and more along the lines of fulfilling need and loneliness issues. The characters are well drawn and complex - none overly good or evil and all acting within their own capacity in the harsh landscape.
In all, a deftly woven, engrossing story of survival in a not too distant future.
    OK, but nothing extra
Kind of interesting but too many unrealisticsituations. Not a very realistic Per trail of what life would be like. And sort of predictable.

loved it, recommend it, great story, good presentatuon, wonderful up-and-coming author, excited for more from Mindy!
    Good Story Overall
Not a Drop to Drink is a YA story which is good for non-YA as well as I didnt find to too YA. Its well written and has wonderful character development but I had few issues with the plot. First is that for something in the post-apocalyptic genre there isnt much action or drama. Some at the beginning then a dry spell for about half the book then some more at the end. This middle part is a good story though and where all the character development happens, but it would have been nice to have a bit more drama mixed in. Second is that the crux doesnt really become apparent until the last 20% of the book.
