pretty good summary of the book

Very good read

This was a great read. Steve Jobs is one of my idols, I'm going into computer engineering and want to be the next Steve Jobs. I have read quite a few biographies on his life, but this one gave me a new view on him. I would highly recommend this book for anyone that likes Steve Jobs or Apple, as it gives you a different understanding of what he was like as a person, and sees beyond what you have seen before.

Surprisingly Good!

I checked out "Redefining the American Dream, because a friend I have known for 36 years told me to." I'm glad I did. I cannot front: The book was very well done! This is coming from a guy who has written many books and who writes daily for a living. I don't give this level of applause on books lightly.

I loved the storytelling aspect, because certain parts in the beginning regarding the author's childhood, were nostalgic and authentic NYC. I now actually have a bit of context for why when I went to church on Washington Ave. (Bronx) in the 70s, the area looked like a bomb hit. I particularly appreciate the peek into Felder world and the realness of the love, tragedy, and triumph. #digg I expected a biased hard-sell of a certain sort, but I was completely wrong. There were a ton of great tips for embracing success, regardless of difficulty, that will prove invaluable.

The book is very motivational, without the guttural, breathless, "SELL, ACHIEVE, SUCCEED, WIN, SELF-TALK, PROSPER!!!" flow that I absolutely hate in the approach of most motivational speakers. Yet, you cannot help but be motivated to improve your circumstances, with every turn of the page. Well done...

It was my pleasure to have experienced and narrated this book.

I began reading this book several weeks ago (hard copy), but only made it through the first two chapters when I decided to give my copy to a friend. Downloaded the Kindle version this morning, sat on the living room couch and read it cover to cover. I cried. I laughed. I cheered. I couldn't put it down. I am inspired.

I thought a little more focus on his journey up from his humble beginnings, previous to his celebrity connections, would have reflected his efforts to achieve the "American Dream." I read the book, and must admit some of the information contain within was an eye opener.

I have also been able to meet Mr. Felder personally and he is everything he wrote about and more.

nothing compared to the authorised autobiography. the worst part is that the author out of his stupid anger missed the opportunity to go for a walk in last days of Steve's life. more of a news paper report rather than a real biography.

Great book and great narration.

This book narrated the life of Steve Jobs in a unique and very engaging way. I really loved the authors view on how Steve Jobs grew as a person, how his family and his work at Next shaped the person who we know today.

Loved the way the story went into more detail about the products and the personal side not heard before.

How a remarkable man overcame enormous obstacles

This excellent book is both a study on age-related macular degeneration and the autobiography of a remarkable man. It takes the reader along on the amazing journey of a disadvantaged boy from living on the streets and a children's home to becoming a high powered entrepreneur who started 3 companies, 2 of which became public. Jim Hindman is best known as the founder of Jiffy Lube, but his unwavering perseverance resulted in success in everything he attempted, including regaining his vision after severe macular degeneration. His story should inspire every reader to endeavor to overcome all obstacles in life.

I have to say I really enjoyed this book

I have to say I really enjoyed this book. Having known Jim Hindman for nearly 40 years I knew much of what was in it regarding his life story. However tying it all together to his fight with macular degeneration was really great. Jim is a man that has been extremely passionate about everything he has done and his passion for making a difference with macular degeneration comes across loud and clear

The author has likely never met his subject to and the info is so general and uninsightful that it is frustrating. Just a waste of time.

What disappointed you about Elon Musk?

The performance was awful. No one talks like that. There were no pauses for effect. It sounded like each sentence was recorder independently, then mashed together to make the recording as brief as possible.

What was most disappointing about Daniel Alefs story?

I am interested in anything Elon Musk. There is nothing new in this essay. I was hoping that some insights through collaboration with Elon would have been shared.

How could the performance have been better?

Take a breath! It's not a race. You're telling a story, not selling something at auction.

Disappointing, don't bother

This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Perhaps I was expecting too much, as I am a Jim Rohn fan. The main thing Mr. Widener learned is that being associated with Jim Rohn will boost sales of your book. The one thing I learned is that Jim's father was a minister. I don't think he ever mentioned that, but it makes sense. Anyway, I suggest you listen to Jim again and not bother with this.

Not exactly as I expected

What else would you have wanted to know about Richard Bransons life?

I wanted to know more about personal habits and how he arranges his personal life... Not so much about that, except for in the beginning.

Richard Bransons starting point to everything is having a good time doing it and it also applies to writing a book. Because, as he says, if you dont have fun writing it, chances are that people wont have fun reading it. So true! So right! The result is a great book about business, but more so about being human and doing what you enjoy in order to give the best of you.

The Virgin Way is a perfect exemple of a human centered approach deeply rooted at every level in a company. Both the staff and the customers are central points. Care about your employees and they will care about the customers. Listen to the people who are daily in contact with customers, the employees. Care about what could make the customers feel better and how you can offer them a better service, something they will remember. Some very basic and simple facts, part of how Virgin does business and making a huge difference.

Its also a book about a kind of bold spirit, the Screw it, lets do it! attitude. It emphasizes the courage to follow your inner voice and to start right there. Its also about being ready to make mistakes, because it is part of the game and its all right, as long as you learn from them and as long as you dont repeat them again and again.

Written based on Richard Branson and Virgins more then 40 years experience in business, the book displays the Virgin Way by sharing concrete exemples and stories and it is a lot about praising and thanking people by telling their stories and showing how they incarnate the Virgin Way.
