The Book Delivers!!
This woman is a genius! The book is awesome!
Why you and I need to have our greatness provoked
Provoking is to Inspiring as Disruption is to Innovation. Ever watch your footprint in wet sand look so pure and beautiful and then have the sand and ocean wash it away so easily? The more complicated and potentially overwhelming the world, the more difficult it is to exhibit and then sustain greatness without having it quickly get washed away and without our being pulled back into a life much less than is possible for you.
Misti's VOICE model is just what you need to help you keep your greatness out in the open and then keep it alive in your life. Here's a teaser:
V: VisionâPainting a clear picture of an ideal future that inspires people into action
O: OwnershipâAccepting full responsibility for results
I: IntentionsâBeing purposeful about intended outcomes
C: CommunityâFostering environments where people feel connected to one another
E: EnergyâHaving passion and unstoppable drive at the highest level within a company

Easy read, great insight, important to implement
Misti makes this book completely accessible--it reads like you are having a conversation with her. The conversational nature of the book doesn't take anything away from how insightful, thought provoking, or important this book is. The conversational nature just makes the book easier to read, easier to comprehend, and easier to figure out how I will be able to make the ideas in the book a more important part of my leadership style in the future.
Misti walks the reader through vision, ownership, intentions, community, and energy. There are great quotes in each section that help the reader to remember key elements of what Misti is communicating and that help to make it easier for me to think about how these ideas can be integrated into my own future as a manager and leader. The ideas include things as simple as making sure that the work is interesting for those in the organization, the importance of allowing for and learning from failure, recognizing what I value and how I communicate that, creating environments that encourage interaction, and making sure that leaders and everyone in the organization has the energy they need to do the work that the organization is trying to achieve. The last of these then relates back to ideas throughout like delegation, giving people more responsibility, and giving people more room to fail and grow.
While this book can be read quickly, the ideas will take me a long time to master. However, I know I'll be able to turn back to the book whenever I need to and find a little inspiration to help me continue to improve my leadership and provoke greatness within my organization.
Amazing Insight & Actionable Steps
There's something about the way that Misti writes that not only makes me want to read the next page, but actually put what she's conveying into action.
