Beautiful story!

I ordered this book (actually, several copies) because it looked like just the thing I'd enjoy reading with my two daughters. I was right. This is a sweet, tender story, with a Godly view, and I would recommend it to anyone with kids. You could buy it for younger children and read it to them or for elementary kids and let them enjoy it on their own. A great find!

Very Entertaining Book For Kids, Young & Old

I ordered this book for my niece, and she liked it very much, as did I. Younger kids will enjoy having this inspirational book read to them, and the older ones will have a great time reading it by themselves. I highly recommend it and hope that this very talented author publishes more books soon!

Great book for the little ones!

This book is a great one to read to kids aged 3-4. It will also get them excited about winter coming! I think that older kids would enjoy reading it on their own, up to the age of about 7 or 8.

Just okay

It doesn't flow very well at times. Might not be in the best category, 4-8 would be better. The artwork is good.

We listened to this in the car on a long journey through France. We all enjoyed it, adults and children (aged 8 and 12) although I don't think you could go any younger than that. Would recommend, especially for boys.

This book about a dog and the chaos he caused at the school resonates with the children. Like the dog, they have a lot of energy, and can feel confined in school. This book turns the situation into a comedy they really enjoy. And reading it to my dog- who theoretically might also run loose in the school... The children really enjoy it.

Excellent, excellent book.

This is a book that should delight any young child. It is very well written, and the illustrations are wonderful. I would recommend this book for young children, especially if they have a fascination with the beach in general, or the Hawaiian Islands in particular. Mark Huff has a great sense of what makes a child tick, and writes accordingly. Anyone with children will appreciate this work, as will the children themselves. Mr. Huff has done a wonderful job!

Your family will relate

Mark Huff does a great job of storytelling. So many books miss that oral storytelling feel that he captures so well with his books. What I like about this story is that kids can really relate. While the story is about a family trip to the beach on Kauai it is based on the antics of our own kids and families and the humor rings true. I found myself laughing at the end of the story because I could see my family acting the same way.

MOST BOOKS FOR THE 4 TO 8 AGE GROUP ARE TOO SIMPLE IN THEIR LANGUAGE AND SOME EVEN TALK DOWN TO CHILDREN. "KING OF THE BEACH" USES AN ADULT STORYTELLER VOICE TO TELL A CUTE STORY OF A BROTHER AND SISTER AND HWO THEY HAVE FUN AS THE BROTHER PRETENDS HE IS KING OF THE BEACH. SISTERLY LOVE PREVAILS AS THE GIRL HELPS HER BIG BROTHER MAKE HIS PRETENDING SEEM MORE REAL. A NICE READ FOR PARENTS AS WELL AS CHILDREN.
