    Great fun!
Though meant for kids, this is a fun little bokk for adults too, especially if you like zombies. The characters are very well done, and though it has some "yuck" moments, it is a well-paced adventure.
    it was ok
it was good but i wish the ending was better because it just wants you to read the next book.

    Great Trilogy
Would you listen to The Kill again? Why?
I probably won't because I don't read because more than once, but the thought would cross my mind.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked how the relationships amongst the main characters transformed.
What does Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
Very good voice of the villian.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes.
    Thrilling Conclusion
In this, the conclusion of L. J. Smith's stunning Forbidden Game Trilogy, Jenny and her friends are forced to follow their arch enemy, Julian into his own world, the shadow world. Here, Julian is master and he has a whole new game in store. Jenny and her friends are playing for everything and the stakes have never been higher. L. J. Smith has proved time and again that she has an incredible imagination, and it comes through especially in this trilogy. With The Kill in particular, she out does herself. Gripping and fast-paced as the other two, and with an unexpected ending, this is a perfect conclusion to an amazing trilogy.

    Publisher's Summary:
Matt Cruse is back in the phenomenal third volume in Kenneth Oppel's best-selling, award-winning series - and this time he's heading for outer space. Airborn and Skybreaker, the first two books in the series, have been among our best-selling and most-honored titles, and we think you'll find this one just as thrilling - if not more so. Featuring an international cast of larger-than-life characters, this is adventure fiction at its finest.
    Members Reviews:
    A bit disappointing
As the third book of this series, Starclimber has a lot to live up to. Oppel has done a great job in developing an interesting and truly original storyline. Its quite believable in a fantastical sort of way. As long as he is writing about the Starclimber, the problems that occur to the ship and the people on board and the solutions to the life threatening dilemmas, the writing is crisp, clear and exciting. Its the development of Matt and Kate which is problematic. Since the story arc has covered several years, there should be some sign of Matt and Kate maturing and having learned from their experiences and mistakes. Instead, its as if Oppel wasn't sure how to develop their characters and had them behave as rather immature and selfish teenagers. Kate's character is so willful and self-centered that it is difficult to be sympathetic or to even like her. Matt's character behaves so jealously and is so insecure that he doesn't seem to be the same person we've seen in the previous two books. Their interaction with each other does not bode well for a long term relationship as it is full mistrust, selfishness and immaturity. Its hard to believe that they really care for each other.
The series seems to have come to end in this book as there is closure on a number of story lines. Perhaps Oppel will produce more, but if he does want to continue with the Matt and Kate characters, he'll need to spend more time developing them.
The voice actors portraying the various characters are all excellent as in the previous productions. Well, the scots character early in the book was rather grating and sound levels with his voice were very loud and unnecessarily startling and explosive. However, overall, this series is one of the best I've ever listened to and one I can recommend.
    Riveting
This was absolutely a marvelous book and I could hardly wait to finish it. It was ingenious and I enjoyed getting to know the characters into further depths. There were unique twists and intrigue. This is a definitive recommendation if you enjoy adventure fantasy. Although listed under the young adult section, it is really marvelous for any age.
Great Entertainment, if Physics Isn't Your Thing
All three books of this series have been great fun and I hope this one is the last, because it ends on the right note. As others have observed, the tone of the story is very Jules Vern-ish, with the same spirit of adventure and the casual disregard of physics in building the story.
Doesn't lose any of its charm and exoneration no matter how many times you read
I started this series when I was ten and waited impatiently until I could get each book. Now, six years later, I've read all the books far too many times, and plan to read them many more. No matter how many times I read it it never gets boring. The performance is top notch by everyone, but I wasn't a fan of the actor who played Kate.

    Publisher's Summary:
The series takes place in a world similar to our own but one where vampires, witches, werewolves and shape-shifters live among humans without their knowledge. These supernatural races make up a secret society known as the Night World, which enforces two fundamental laws to prevent discovery: 1) Never allow humans to gain knowledge of the Night World's existence and, 2) Never fall in love with one of them.
Mary-Lynnette, 17, loves to watch the stars from her Oregon backyard. Then one day, she thinks she's witnessed a murder through her telescope. She's wrong: it's only three vampire sisters burying their mysteriously-killed aunt. The sisters, Rowan, Kestral, and Jade ran away from their enclave home to live the lives of regular teenagers. However, when their brother Ash is sent to bring the girls back, he falls in love with Mary-Lynnette. But will she accept him because of his lurid vampire past and can a now-repentant Ash convince Mary-Lynnette to let him atone for his former sins and be his soulmate?

    Vampires, vampires and more VAMPIRES!!!
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I throughly enjoyed listening to this book, it was time well spent.
What did you like best about this story?
As book 2 of the Night World series I love how different it was from Secret Vampire. Although James and Poppy are somewhat mentioned in this book, the story is about a completely different cast of characters. Smith also humanizes the villain from Secret Vampire, Ash, and you start to get a different and more oppressive view about the Night World.
What about Emily Durantes performance did you like?
Emily Durante did a magnificent job narrating this book. There were a lot of characters and a lot of different personalities to portray.
Did Daughters of Darkness inspire you to do anything?
No. It's just a good young adult novel.

MOST OF THE BOOK IS MISSING!!!
What disappointed you about The Adventures of Tom Sawyer?
I purchased the unabridged version (Wil Wheaton performing), I checked and checked that it was unabridged. But when I listened to it, more than half of the book is just missing.
Would you recommend The Adventures of Tom Sawyer to your friends? Why or why not?
    Yes, but not this version.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Yes, disappointment that I haven't gotten my money back as I did not receive what I purchased.
Wil Wheaton is perfect as a young rascal
This is Tom Sawyer; anything less than a 5 is arrogant.
Wil Wheaton has made his name as an author and Interner pioneer--he understands the frontier, the tricks, the risks and whims and the smirk in his voice is perfect for another soft-hearted romantic charlatan, Tom Sawyer.
Presently Unimpressed with the Legacy of this Book
I could be wrong and it's only my opinion, but I'm not really a fan of this book. I did listen twice and did enjoy it more the second time. It is a cute, coming-of-age story that reminds me of some of the shenanigans attempted by my friends and me during our youth.
It's worth a listen as a "classic" just to know where literature has its roots, but I don't know if I'll listen or read it again.
I usually listen at 3x speed and did so on my first pass, but slowed it down on my second listen attempting to appreciate it more (that did work). Wil Wheaton is one of my all-time favorite narrators and he was great with this reading (however, I prefer him in science fiction e.g., Ready Player One, Armada, Masters of Doom).
Over the last year I've been reading the classics, some I've thoroughly enjoyed (Twenty Thousand League Under the Sea) and others I haven't even been able to finish (Moby Dick). In all I've listened to three dozen "classics" and I'm split a little more than 50/50 with scholarly consensus on "being great" or "must reads". Which is why we should just read these books instead of counting on reviews like this.
    Classic
I love this book. I like Wil Wheaton. The two combined ain't the greatest but I'll take it
    Love Wil Wheaton but...
I have loved everything Will Wheaton has narrated, up until this. His voice is to modern, too clean to make it believable. He does the accents, and they aren't bad, but the narration between the dialogue sounds so very modern that it takes you entirely out of the scene. Even the pacing is off.
Love you Will, but I think historical southern is not your strong suit.

    Critic Reviews:
"Tim Burton and Edgar Allan Poe devotees will die for this fantastic, phantasmal read." (School Library Journal)
"Posey nurses the wry humor of the novels stereotypes - from wannabe to super cool. Her voice strengthens, and her pace quickens during the witty dialogue between Charlotte and various disdainful ghosts. Posey also dramatizes the heightened emotions during conversations." (AudioFile)
    Members Reviews:
    Cute Idea but Lacked Depth
Ghostgirls cover art and packaging are adorable and, in my opinion, it has some of the best book marketing out there. I dont know about you but the cover designs kind of made me think back to the Shoe series I used to read as a child. You know the books like Ballet Shoes that had the little window inside the cover. Ah, brings back good memories. Anyway, in addition to the cover art, the story idea is incredibly clever. With all the wonderful marketing and the fun story idea, you would think this book would be a winner but unfortunately it fell a little flat.
From the book description, you can tell the book has a little bit of a dark side, which I usually like. But the read ended up being a little too gloomy for my taste. The story did hold my interest and I wanted to keep listening (I listened to the audiobook in case you missed the book type listed above). When it was over, I didnt feel happy or more so I didnt really feel anything.
Charlotte wants to be popular and that is the bulk of the story. Since this is her primary goal, I struggled to find depth in Charlottes character. She fights hard to achieve her popularity goal even in her afterlife and her persistence is admirable but it wore on me after awhile. In the end, her character grows, which was a relief for me since in 98% of the book she was really shallow and selfish. I wanted to like Charlotte but I found that I just couldnt relate to her.
On the plus side, Hurleys writing is expertly descriptive and has a clear tone, albeit a gloomy one. At the beginning of each chapter is a quote from famous literature, poetry, or songs. At times, I liked this touch but then again there were times when I felt the quotes were over done.
Overall, I have mixed feelings about Ghost Girl. I really wanted to like it because the cover and story idea were so much fun. But this is one of those books that you cant judge by its cover and all the other little sparkling marketing features. Its possible that Middle School aged children would enjoy this book but I think that even they might find it a little drab and depressing. Maybe the next books in the series will be a little more fun.
    Perfection!
After reading the critically acclaimed ghostgirl 5 times, I couldn't wait for the audiobook...me and my friends are trying to memorize lines from the book to whip out in school with each other. I had no idea Parker Posey read this!!!! The cool factor just went off the charts!
    GENIUS
This book is genius and parker posey's reading is a perfect fit. I was laughing out loud and also very moved. I will recommend this to all
    Dull
I'm not sure why this book was rated so high, I think I will have to listen to it again and try to figure out what I missed.

    Release date: 06-09-09
    Publisher: HarperAudio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 49 votes
    Genres: Teens, Ages 11-13
    Publisher's Summary:
It would have been such a sweet, romantic moment. Except that Beth, the head cheerleader, has only the vaguest idea who Denis is. And Denis, the captain of the debate team, is so far out of her league he is barely even the same species. And then there's Kevin, Beth's remarkably large boyfriend, who's in town on furlough from the United States Army. Complications ensue.
    Editorial Reviews:
Larry Doyle (a former writer for "Beavis and Butthead" and "The Simpsons") brings his comedic genius to the novel with this story of one nerd's dream come true - spending graduation night with head cheerleader Beth Cooper. Fans of the movie will recognize the voice of Paul Rust, who portrayed geeky valedictorian Denis Cooverman in the film of the same title. Rust delivers this humorous and sometimes-outrageous account, told from Denis's point of view, in a mostly straightforward manner. He saves his more dramatic efforts for the antics of Beth's friends and boyfriend, allowing the satirical tone to come mainly from the bizarre set of circumstances that emerge during the last - and greatest - night of high school.
    Members Reviews:
    wonderful book
I love this book! Its everything a book like this should be; funny, sweet, smart. I think the narrator is just right, capturing the sly asides as well as the minds of all the characters. I've probably listened to it three times now!
A great and fun read...er...listen...er both
If you could sum up I Love You, Beth Cooper in three words, what would they be?
    Great Teen Comedy
What was one of the most memorable moments of I Love You, Beth Cooper?
The entire book is memorable, but the most would be the moment where they are driving through the town and the history of what they have done, wear they have worked, and the memories that go with the places they drive by. This moment tells me that the author knew some of these kids growing up
    Which scene was your favorite?
As before the scene of them driving through town. After so many insane events, this real moment brings about the truest moment. The moment of pure reality. I felt like I went to school with these kids.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    Four Words...One Night...Priceless Memories
    Any additional comments?
I believe that this book is the essential teen movie. While I do like the film, I will say that the book is so much better and that the film should have been more like the book, a hard R rating. Truth the movie needed to be R rated as the book was. Despite how insane the book is the harsh realities in the humor of the dialogue, situations, and scenario come across so much better in this R rated book. Get this for your kids when they graduate. It is reflective no mater the social class.
    Much funnier than the movie
The sole reason that I got this book was that I had a credit burning a hole in my pocket. I was happy to have spent that credit on this book. More entertaining than the movie, and more disturbing too. Enjoy!

    A HOWLING GOOD READ!
I had extremely high hopes when it came to this sequel, as "The Sight" was, and still is, my favorite wolf related novel, as well as being one of my favorite novels in general, and for the most part, my expectations were met. Character development was strong throughout the book, the storyline progressed nicely, and the plot moved along at a decent pace. Everything that made "The Sight" as great as it was, in my opinion, remains true in "Fell" however, I was a little disappointed in the fact that the storyline focuses quite heavily upon the human side of things, but this still doesn't take away anything from the overall majesty of this incredible work of writing. If you enjoyed "The Sight", you'll most definitely be pleased with "Fell". I wouldn't really recommend going into this one if you haven't already read "The Sight", although some aspects of the first novel are touched upon briefly, but in order to extract all that "Fell" has to offer, I would highly encourage that "The Sight" be read first. Steven Crossley does a wonderful job as narrator, just as he did for "The Sight".
*howls and gives the Paws Up approval*
Just as good as the first!
What did you love best about Fell?
I read this book before the Sight and it wasn't hard to read without knowing the backstory. I liked the narrator and the story is wonderful. I love, love, LOOOOOOOVED it
Who was your favorite character and why?
    Fell, he such a BAMF
    Astounding.
I love the book and the audiobook. Fell has to overcome so many obstacles and I never suspected what Morgra was really up to.
I do not recommend this audiobook to anyone who has not read The Sight and or listened to the audiobook of The Sight cause they may not be able to understand what's happening.
    Entertaining
What did you like most about Fell?
Having read the books i loved the story the narrator really brings the characters to life
Who was your favorite character and why?
Fell and the raven they way the character finds them self and the power they possess
Have you listened to any of Steven Crossleys other performances? How does this one compare?
the other book relating to this one is equally as good you need to read or listen to both to fully understand the story
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
this is a feel good story in parts you can feel the characters and I find myself laughing or crying. I would recommend listening/reading to all ages

    Astonishing

    Good story for all ages
This was a great little story and brought to life by a great narrator. I love listening to John McDonough. I could imagine each of the characters and exactly what they looked like. I felt like I wanted to hold and hug the young boy so many times throughout the book. And I wanted so much for him to have that little horse! I am not really a horse lover - but I loved this horse story.

We downloaded this and listened to it for school. The narrator does a wonderful job with the different characters voices, and my son would have listened to the whole 4 hours at one sitting if allowed. I believe this audio version really brought the story to life, and my son still recall alot of details about the story, and it has been several months and many books ago. Highly reccommend.
