My 6 yo is a fan
Written by a former prima ballerina, the dance world feels authentic. And while no Jane Austen, perfect for an early reader trying her hand at chapter books. We like this series.

Not as good as the first.
My daughter loved the first Jamie and Angus book. In fact she still asks me to read her the chocolate story. However this second book isn't as memorable as the first. In the second book most of the stories have less to do with Jamie AND Angus and more to do with Jamie and what he does that day. One story has him talking to Angus for about a page before going on a walk with his family without Angus. I just didn't enjoy it near as much as the original.
    Perfect
This is a great bedtime book for a four or five year-old. The stories are about Jamie's everyday life and relationships with his family and stuffed bull. They are clever, well-written, and sweet without being cloying or cutesy. Jamie's thoughts and feelings ring true, and my son adores these books.
    Cute book
The stories in this book are sweet. My 5 year old asks me to read them to her at bedtime so I guess that is an endorsement from her.

    Publisher's Summary:
The tale is filled with allusions to Carroll's friends (and enemies), and the lessons that all good schoolchildren were expected to memorize. Carroll plays with logic in ways that have given his story lasting popularity to all ages. It is considered to be the characteristic example of literary nonsense.

    The Best Kindle Option Available
I took a gamble on buying this edition when no one had reviewed it yet. I tried several other Kindle editions available and had found them truly appalling in terms of formatting. This however, is significantly better, featuring well structured chapter breaks and all the original illustrations, which enhance the story a lot.
Furthermore, considering it contains both books, plus the excellent Hunting of the Snark, it is a fantastic price.
However, there are still some glaring mistakes, such as some formatting bugs in a few of the poems and spelling errors in places (such as at the start of Looking Glass, where some of the Ls are replaced with 1s - I guess a scanner did the 'writing here').
5 stars for the great price and superior formatting over the other options. -1 star for the glaring lack of proof reading from the publisher.
    Good book
A classic children's book that never gets old. I bought it for my daughter and we read a chapter every night. The only issue I have is that it's a little smaller than I expected, but that's okay.
    Fun and ridiculous, as intended
Playful poetry may be more amusing for adults. In any case I finally learned about the Boogum. What fun! Theres some discussion that there is a hidden message in his poem. If so, I admit to it being way over my head!
    Italicized Text?!
I really wanted to like this--the original illustrations are beautifully reproduced--but bizzarely, half the books are italicized in their entirety, making them pretty much unreadable. If this were fixed, I'd give this 5 stars.
    Outstanding, of course.
There is nothing for me to add to the mountains of praise already out there for this masterpiece of nonsense literature â arguably the finest sustained piece there is, with only William Gilbert and Thomas Hood to rival it.
As the Victioran languge is sometimes a little dated, readers might care to go instead for Martin Gardnerâs Annotated verion that explains everything in detail (too much detail for some tastes).

A good and rewarding storyline of overcoming our fears. One young girl faces her ears with her pears as well as with herself for the sake of a cat. Leaves me with one question "What would she do for a friend"?
    Interesting
It was pretty i interesting also had a very good plot overall it was a good quick read but a little short.
    Great series
My 8 year old daughter wants to be a vet and has loved all of these books. This series is a must for young animal lovers!
    Great
I LOVED this book. But the only thing that I didn't like was the talk about animals in hurricanes and its scary because the animal could die! It was good too because it teaches you what to do with your animals when the happens! It was great!

Having parents who agree to disagree does mean twice as many presents on your birthday, but it can complicate your life! There was the time Baby's parents couldn't agree on what kind of dog to get - so they got two, both named Sally. One summer day, when rushing back to the city from their country house, the Puddles leave the Sallys behind. Will the Puddles agree to go back? What will become of the Sallys?
    Members Reviews:
    clever and cute
Meet the Puddles: parents who can't agree on anything, an 8 1/2 year old girl called Emily by her father, Ferdinanda by her mother, and Baby by everyone else, an older brother named Tom, two dogs both named Sally. When they leave their country house to go back to their city house, the Sallys are left behind. This book alternates between the Sallies trying to get back to their family and the family trying to get back to the Sallies.
This is a fun book for 7 to 10 year olds. Kids will love the humor of this crazy family and the quirky characters they meet on their adventures. The interaction between the dogs is great, as well as the math and fill in the blanks. I especially liked how all the subplots came together and how all the characters were related. Enjoyable book.
    Not a good read.
The Puddles are getting ready to leave their country home for the city. Mr. and Mrs. Puddle once agreed until neither could agree on a name for their daughter. Mr. Puddle calls her Ferdinada and Mrs. Puddles calls her Emily ... but the nurse wrote "Baby" on the official birth certificate thus supposedly ending the argument. After that, the two Puddles never agree on anything and turn everything into an argument. As they are packing up the car, their arguing causes them to forget their great dane and chihuahua (both named Sally since they couldn't agree on names) and they leave them behind. Halfway towards their city home, they realize the dogs are missing and yet another argument ensues of what they should do. Their arguing leads to them getting stranded on the road. In the meantime, the dogs set off on their own to find their owners and meet with different "adventures" involving a dog napper, skunks and a cranky farmer. The end of the book finally has the Puddles agreeing, but doesn't really resolve anything. Actually, one tidbit thrown in at the very end seemed to have come from left-field until I realized a small storyline was mentioned at the very beginning of the book.
This book has a lot of randomness, literal "fill in the blanks" (where the author encourages the read to add to the story), and quite a bit of potty humor. It might appeal to very young ages, but was not enjoyed by my 9-12 year olds. Then again, the vocabulary might confuse a younger reader. In all honestly, I think more humorous books like "The Secrets Of Dripping Fang" series and "The Floods" series would better appeal to young readers.
    A Mixed Review
I couldn't stand this book. In fact, I could not finish it.
My 8 1/2 year old daughter, however, loved it. She read the whole thing in less than 24 hours.
    Thus ... this mixed review.
I found the text to be repetitive and the dialogue downright aggravating. Humor is apparently to be found in saying things over and over again. A typical structure for a chapter goes like this: Every member of the Puddle family makes an exclamation. Then they all make the same exclamation again.

    Wonderful Story, wonderful message!
I remember being 4 years old on my way to Disney World, the 14 hour drive, my little ear phones on, listening to my audio cassette version of this. It made me cry like a baby then and hearing again 17 years later brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful story, what a wonderful message! I'm so happy it was converted as an audiobook!

    Olivia saves bedtime...
I am here to buy this book and it's predecessor. We picked up Olivia Saves the Circus at the library, and now I have to buy one because we can't renew it anymore! My son is only 16 months old, but he gets very excited when he sees this book come out at bedtime. One night I gathered up a few books to read before bed, and Olivia wasn't in the stack. He looked over the books, then scooted into the living room and returned with Olivia Saves the Circus, asking (in his own way) that it be read. Now he insists that it is part of his bedtime ritual. If I don't have it in the stack of bedtime books, he finds it and brings it along. And when we get to the trampoline part, he always throws up his hands and says, "Wow!" And both his father and I love it, too. The illustrations are wonderful, and the whole character of Olivia - her bold self-confidence, her independent spirit and imagination - is very charming. My favorite part is the end - "Maybe..." I love a pig who's sure of herself...

Who doesn't love Olivia? Circus books are hard to come by for Preschoolers and because Olivia is a favorite storybook character, the children loved the story.

A Beautiful Story for All Ages
I have enjoyed reading this book to children for years (I'm a teacher). My two sons, ages 9 and 6, still request that I read it to them when we read aloud to each other. The story is a classic tale of the cycles of life, and how you really CAN go home again. I always cry at the end. I recommend it for ages 3 and up. Get ready to answer some weighty kid questions.
    Great book, came on time
The condition of this book was as good or better than expected and we were glad to finally own it after checking it out from the library many times!
