Nicely illustrated book and content is cute

Nicely illustrated book and content is cute. Gook cultural enrichment book for any age, (even High School Spanish classes)....my only criticism is it has a page about the day of the dead. Because of that I'm reluctant to use it with young learners. This is not the first Hispanic book which brings up the day of the dead...Mexico ABC did too, and I know it is part of their culture but I found that could be scary for young learners.

I love this author. Everything she does is thoughtful and her words really bring culture into my world language classroom.

Another great Spanglish story that can easily be used in a regular classroom. Talks about colors but brings in great cultural aspects too!

I LOVE this book! It is funny! I would recommend getting this book. It is about Amp, the alien, and Zack a growing fourth grader. It is the fourth sequel to Alien in My Pocket #1: BLAST OFF! Before you read this book, read the first 3 books. That will give you all the information you need to know about the Alien in My Pocket series. So, look for Alien in My Pocket #1: BLAST OFF!, Alien in My Pocket #2: The Science Unfair, and Alien in My Pocket #3: Radio Active. It even has a preview of Alien in My Pocket #5: Ohm vs. Amp! Look for that, too. And be on the lookout for more Alien in My Pocket books!

Mari the cat's musings about her travels with Yeshua could not be more realistic.

My copy of The Gospel according to Yeshua's Cat arrived yesterday and it is beyond wonderful! It was recommended by a friend on Facebook, and I can't thank her enough for recommending it!

As a founder of a local cat rescue organization and a wannabe writer, this is the book I wanted to write; but only someone with a very special, sweet, sweet spirit could have written it.

I am only in chapter 9, because I want to savor every word. So far, I have cried, laughed, nodded knowingly as Mari the cat recounted her travels and her conversations with Yeshua. This author has completely captured the true nature of cats, as well as that of Yeshua within the pages of this book. Much like C.S. Lewis in his Chronicles of Narnia, C.L. Francisco has written a book that transcends the age category of the reader.

I will write a further review after I have finished, but this is one book I can recommend, without reservation, while not even half way through the reading of it! I already know this will be my gift of choice for all my closest friends. My first gift copy will arrive today for my sister's 58th birthday.

a lesson learned

I read Otis to my grandkids last weekend and what a Gem. Otis represents all that is good as he tries his best to accomodate all of the creatures on the farm. Mr bull will have nothing to do with the others as he holds court in his small kingdom, the field. All of a suddenl things take a turn for the worse and Otis, as all heros, makes sure the group is taken care of as he finds protection. However, the hated bull is found to be missing and Otis goes looking for him despite the danger. As often the case with "BULLIES", Mr. Bull is found trembeling and very much afraid of his own skin. Otis takes charge and despite the past takes the bull to safety. In the end, all is happy and the future seem bright. What a marvalous tale to tell the kids. It is much like Billy Whiskers, The Little Engine that Could and others,. Alls well that ends well!

Sweet and exciting story with mesmerizing illustrations

Otis and the tornado is my toddlerâs favorite Otis book! The heart of the book is helping others even if you are intimidated by them. We love the story of the bullâs transformation from frightening other animals to befriending them. We started reading it together when I knew bad weather was approaching later in the week. We then read it repeatedly the night the hurricane was nearest us and the threat of tornadoes was high. The book helped him understand what a tornado is and what you should do to be safe. He then understood why we had to stay in our designated safe spot and why he has to carefully listen to my directions.

More Otis!

I'll say right off the bat that I am a big fan of Otis. I fell in love with him the minute I read the first book. So much so that I ordered the stuffed toy. I like this book even better than first. The large, bright illustrations make this book perfect as a read-a-loud. The picture of the bull does a great job of emphasizing his bigness and grumpiness. The writing is clear and crisp and great for reading out-loud. I found it easy to change my tone of voice with the changing emotion of the story. The second graders I read this to enjoyed it also. In fact, one class that usually cannot be quiet for any length of time, became silent when I started reading this book. That to me is the best sign of a great book, when the students become so intently focused on the book. This book has the look and feel of a classic. I will note that some younger children may find the tornado frightening. Highly recommended.

Just okay

My 3 year old grandson and I adore the original Otis book. First be aware that this is a very large book if you're buying the hardback version. It doesn't fit on our bookshelf and I can only read it sitting upright. More importantly to me, it seems a bit choppy. The book jumps from the animals finding the farm in need of repair to "but when the work was done".

Cute Story with Nice Illustrations!

This book is adorable! The illustrations are nicely done - not too much color that will overstimulate a child. The story is very sweet. My daughter likes looking for the red balloon on each page. It teaches children about kindness, caring and selflessness.

A Sweet Story About Friendship and Animals

A Sick Day for Amos McGee is a very sweet book about a friendship between a zookeeper named Amos and the animals he cares for. When Amos gets sick, his friends elephant, tortoise, penguin, rhinocerous and owl come to his house to comfort and care for him. Erin McGee's lovely, layered illustrations convincingly depict the friendship between Amos and the zoo animals.

I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to sharing it with my children. As a child, I would have loved imaging befriending the animals in this story. As a parent, I hope my children are surrounded by such thoughtful friends.

Beautiful and charming

I adore this book, probably even more than my 2 1/2 year old (who also loves it). The story is charming, the pictures are beautifully done, and it carries a nice message about friendship.

Good re-readability

This is one of our daughter's favorite books now (age 1.5 yrs). She liked the pictures and story initially. As we've read the book more, she is enjoying pointing out some of the commonly recurring objects & characters hidden throughout the illustrations. I hope this soft cover survives the many uses we're getting from it!

Hyperbolic Angst

This book is hilarious. A girl can't find her bear, her Very Most Favorite stuffed animal. Naturally she acts as if the world is ending. Instead of helping her find the bear, her mother and father give her hints on how she might find it. Her older sister is not sympathetic, it seems, but later helps. While the girl searches, she wreaks havoc on the household. When she finds something interesting, she forgets all about her lost bear . . . when she remembers again, the hyperbole begins anew. The situation is funny, the writing is excellent, the illustrations fantastic. A great read, for children and for adults, over and over.

Loved

This book is colorful and fun to read. I bought it for my daughters who were not quite 2 at the time and we read this book until it fell apart. Definitely a favorite for a long time.

Awesome. Great pictures throughout and real info in the back.

Got this for my granddaughter's birthday and she loves it. We read it over and over. She loves bugs so much that we call her Lexi-Bug.

Appropriate for ages 1-4

This book is quite juvenile. While reading the description, it says for ages 2-6, but I would say at most to age 4. It is adorable, but definitely intended for very young children, and not school aged children. It has fund pictures and rhymes, but the age appropriation was my only issue.

lovely, colorful

My 4 year old loves this one so much, we have the ebook and the hardcover. Lots of color and texture, great rhyming and fun facts at the very end. This is our third, and most favorite Bob Barner book.
