Title: Music for a New Depression

Author: Elihu Blotnick

Narrator: Elihu Blotnick

Format: Unabridged

Length: 31 mins

Language: English

Release date: 05-18-16

Publisher: firefallmedia

Genres: Drama & Poetry, Poetry

Publisher's Summary:

Music for a New Depression, songs of a native oracle, slices the political scene to shreds, then wands it back together. The poet with his blues magic makes us realize that the only audience that matters is the land itself. Written on a mountain top in New Mexico, the poems are arrows to the heart of Washington, meant to light the sky as they travel there, by taking to task the national political scene and the current politics of language.

Elihu looks down from the clouds at the herd rushing toward a cliff, to lyricize the thunder. His warnings strike like lightning and reflect the popular contempt for politics, but that is exactly what is needed to start an honest dialogue and initiate real change in the entire body politic. Sing with him!

2016: the political train is pulling into a new station: the pendulum swings us across the decades: when a backlash sets in, we need to know who has been holding the whip, in order to take it away from him/her. This is a process independent of personalities, however much they cry out, reverse their own course, and encase themselves in glass coffins.

I enjoyed reading this book there are some Lovely poems in it

And there's also some i didn't like but overall it's a great book I'll definitely recommended it.

Heartfelt, Storytelling at its Peak

Reading these poems really touched me. It kind of reminded me of my own book of poems. Very heartfelt as I strapped in for the ride. It was like reliving most of the experiences that I thought I've dealt with. But it is nice to know that I'm not alone. My favorite piece in this collection was talking about sin. The comparison to a nightmare and how it difficult to separate light from the darkness. The humanity of sin. Definitely, a recommended read!

Review

The poems flowed well. There seems to be much anger in the writing. Whether intentional or just how I read it. I was confused toward the end. I am not sure if itâs how it appeared on my phone or what happened but the poems all started to run together. Minor technical editing I am guessing. Overall good pieces. Poetry is always meant to absorb and reflect on. At least for me and those I know. Taking time to study the pieces for what they are will help in this read.

Great expression of emotions through various experiences

I could feel Vanessa's pain and anger, but also her strength and release in this poetry collection. Great expression of emotions through various experiences.

Great masterpiece!

For people who are interested in poetry, this is a great piece.

You'll not be disappointed. I got a copy as a gift and was impressed by this young poet.

The book is much easier to read and enjoyable!
