    Publisher's Summary:
Rhyme, a quadriplegic long confined to his wheelchair, immediately taps his trusted partner and longtime love, Amelia Sachs, to walk the grid and be his eyes and ears on the street. But Sachs has other commitments now, namely, her first assignment as lead detective on a homicide of her own. As she struggles to balance her pursuit of the infuriatingly elusive Watchmaker with her own case, Sachs unearths shocking revelations about the police force that threaten to undermine her career, her sense of self, and her relationship with Rhyme. As the Rhyme-Sachs team shows evidence of fissures, the Watchmaker is methodically stalking his victims and planning a diabolical criminal masterwork. Indeed, the Watchmaker may be the most cunning and mesmerizing villain Rhyme and Sachs have ever encountered.
    Critic Reviews:
"[Even] Deaver fans...will be hard-pressed to peel back all the layers of the cunning plot at work beneath the surface". (Publishers Weekly)
"As always, Deaver's dialogue is exceptionally realistic, and his plotting is devilishly intricate." (Booklist)

    Another great puzzle!
I'm already an avid fan of Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs, so I relish each new book. This story was again a great mystery with twists in the plot as well as continued development of the personal lives and relationships of the main characters. I enjoyed the buildup of suspense as "trace" evidences are pieced together to build and finally complete the puzzle style plot, with a smash ending that kept me enthralled. I listen to audible books while working out and this book kept me in the gym quite a long time because I just couldn't stop listening!
Rhyme, Sachs & now Dancer whoopee!
I fully enjoyed this the 7th in the Lincoln Rhyme series and the 1st in a new series featuring Kathryn Dancer. As usual Rhyme uses Amelia Sachs' eyes to "walk the grid" finding physical evidence to analyze, but this time they are up against an adversary clever enough to evade identification and capture. To get the mastermind behind some bizarre murders they reluctantly request help from Kathryn Dancer an expert in interrogation and body language (kinesics). This has all the complexity and engaging storytelling Deaver readers expect.
    Very intricate. Pay attention!
This is my first Deaver book and I am now going to listen to more. Drawing characters is the author's real strength. They are interesting, complicated and leave you wanting more. The plot of this book is fascinating, but rests on some coincidences that are a little hard to swallow. Suspend that instinct for disbelief a bit, and you'll have a great time. Good narration -- holds your interest. If half-stars were possible, I'd give another half.....
    The Cold Moon
Joe Montenga is a great narrator. His performance of this title lends to the listening pleasure. The story line is date and time coded and this somewhat is annoying however, it does portray the plot and conditions of the search for the villians/killers. The ending is not what one would expect. I won't give it away here, but leave that for the listener. I give this book 4 stars. Highly recommended. I will look for more from this author.
    I'm hooked
I love puzzles, history and fascinating little tidbits with significant meaning. Deaver is excellent at detail and leading you down a heart pounding, but misleading path.

It seems that a low-rent Don Juan has been busily seducing the local womenfolk, and, in a town this small, no secret is kept for long. When the Fletchers' picnic is interrupted by the discovery of a broken body at the foot of the cliff, that of the philandering local innkeeper, the unflappable Daisy Dalrymple finds herself embroiled in a mystery.
In the continuation of her popular series, Carola Dunn vividly evokes the life and times of 1920s England, wrapped in a classic mystery to delight her many fans.

a stronger entry in the series, eventually
This starts off sounding like a YA mystery but by hour two becomes a well-plotted cozy with some good setting detail. Narrator Dunne just sounds too American, however, for a Brit cozy, and the jazz age tone she attempts is even less suitable in this installment because there's less humour and flippancy to Daisy, more attempted sleuthing. I've found the titles available to date on Audible of vaying quality but still hope that Audible adds more Dunne titles. Daisy and Alec seem to be developing into a more interesting detective team.
    Wonderful narrator
Where does Fall of a Philanderer rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?
About fourth or fifth (I liked the other Daisy Dalrymple books better.)
Who was your favorite character and why?
    Daisy, of course.
    Which scene was your favorite?
Any scene with Alec and Daisy
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I adore this series. I laugh all the way through it. I only wish you had more of the series on Audible.
    Any additional comments?
The narrator is marvelous. I could listen to her all day.

I do hope that more books are coming!
I do love the Daisy Dalrumple (now Fletcher) books. The "innocent" crime along with the underlying love-story, not to mention the charming lingo is enchanting!
Wonderful - More audio books of Daisy needed!
Where does Fall of a Philanderer rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This is one of the better 'cozy mysteries' available on audio. The story is good, the plot interesting and the characters compelling. I have enjoyed all of Daisy's stories on Audible and am so disappointed that this is the final one available in the audio version.
Please feature the rest of the Daisy series on Audible!
What other book might you compare Fall of a Philanderer to and why?
Similar to others in the series, in addition to the Rhys Bowen books.
What about Bernadette Dunnes performance did you like?
Ms. Dunne's narration is rich and interesting.

    Critic Reviews:
"This venerable mystery series has been on a good run of late. Brown does everything right here, from creating a suspenseful plot to introducing readers to Virginia vineyards and the art of winemaking....Wine fanciers or not, readers will happily toast the animal-loving author for creating this robust and flavorful tale." (Booklist) "A captivating look at grape growing and the passionate dedication it requires." (Publishers Weekly)

    Tedious
The story and the plot were mildly entertaining, but there were far too many minor characters with little to add to the story, making it difficult to know which characters to remember and which to forget. There were a couple of fist fights which seemed to be added in for no particular reason. This is one book which would work well as an abridged audiobook.
    Toady
Rita Mae Brown appears to be totally obsessed with garnering favor from Patricia Kluge, a real person of social consequence and considerable wealth in Albemarle County, rather than writing a clever, well plotted mystery. To fans of her other Sneaky Pie mysteries this one will be a real disappointment. It is dreadful. Ms. Brown appears to have forsaken her considerable talents to social climbing.
    not up to par
Is there anything you would change about this book?
too much detailed info on wine production.
What could Rita Mae Brown have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
less repetitive info on wine production
Would you listen to another book narrated by Kate Forbes?
    yes, narrator was excellant
Did Sour Puss inspire you to do anything?
no matter how this book is rated I will always love this author. This is the only book I was not overly fond of. All of the others(and there are quite a few) I loved.
    Any additional comments?
    excellent author
    Going downhill
I have been reading the Sneaky Pie Brown series for about 13 years now off and on and I have to say that the plot lines are getting thinner and thinner. I used to read them for a good mystery and to find out what was happening to my favorite characters. The storyline used to keep me on the edge of my seat, but now I just get them to find out about the main characters. The mystery is almost nonexistant. I felt no suspense whatsoever until the last couple of chapters and then I thought the killer's motives were lame and unconvincing. I am now wondering if I will go on with the series at all. If Ms. Brown wished to change the course of the series to a purely interpersonal novel, then she has many places she could go, but as far as mysteries go, she has hit a dead end.
Sour Puss Review Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie
I just love Rita Mae Brown's Sneaky Pie series - haven't read her other books though.
This was another good one by Rita Mae! Very interesting, easy listening, and very enjoyable mystery where the animals solve it, but make it look like the people did.
    I enoyed it!

    Enjoyed this entire series!
This is just the first book in this series. You have to actually read the other 5 or 6, but I find them very enjoyable. I like the premise and the heroine does not do lots of stupid stuff like so many of the paranormal romance/urban fantasy women. Yes, there is a lot of sex, most of it casual, but it becomes a part of the lore of the werewolf in this mythology. I do wish Audible (and for that matter others, like Amazon), would indicate if there is explicit sex. I like to read/hear it in my stories, but if someone is going to be with you in the car, a head's up would be nice. I usually read the reviews to see if sex is mentioned by reviewers. Of course, those are the ones I like - a good story with good sex. Full Moon Rising fills that bill.
I like the narrator also. This series takes place in Australia and her voice is perfect for the lead character.
    Just too much
Lately, I've been into the vampire/werewolf thing and I have been enjoying it, so, I thought that I would give this series a try. It was a waste for me. Though the idea of the story in the book was interesting, I just couldn't bring myself to get into the multiple 'mate' thing. Maybe I'm getting too old for that idea, or, maybe I'm just a prude. Don't get me wrong, I love hot sex scenes, but, I usually like them when it's 'love' and with building up to a 'life mate' thing. Not, this one today and that one tomorrow, or later on tonight. It had me too confused!! So, if you're not into the several different partner thing and like a more 'old fashioned' love story, this one isn't for you. It wasn't for me..................even wolves mate for life, without all this preamble.
Anita Blake fans don't miss this one!
If you love paranormal romance and you are an Anita Blake fan, you'll love this one. Finally a vampire to match Jean Claude!
    Should come with Xanax
Dear Audible Friend, I really want you to think twice about buying this book and then keep thinking as long as it takes to decide against it. It has to be the single most FRUSTRating book ever recorded. Because there was a fraction of a sliver of a chance the author would somehow redeem herself with a good ending I had to listen to the bitter end - and there wasn't one! She just set up her next book and said "stay tuned".

    Publisher's Summary:
A nameless, beautiful woman appears to be just another corpse in the morgue. An apparent suicide, she lies on a gurney, awaiting the dissecting scalpel of medical examiner Maura Isles. But when Maura unzips the body bag and looks down at the body, she gets the fright of her life. The corpse opens its eyes.
Very much alive, the woman is rushed to the hospital, where with shockingly cool precision, she murders a security guard and seizes hostages...one of them a pregnant patient, Jane Rizzoli.
Who is this violent, desperate soul, and what does she want? As the tense hours tick by, Maura joins forces with Jane's husband, FBI agent Gabriel Dean, to track down the mysterious killer's identity. When federal agents suddenly appear on the scene, Maura and Gabriel realize that they are dealing with a case that goes far deeper than just an ordinary hostage crisis.
Only Jane, trapped with the armed madwoman, holds the key to the mystery. And only she can solve it, if she survives the night.
    Critic Reviews:
"Never fails to deliver chilling suspense...leaves the reader breathless." (The Philadelphia Inquirer)
"Drawing on current events, Gerritsen's latest novel is a tense, taut thriller that grabs readers from the get-go and never lets up." (Booklist)
"It's scary how good Tess Gerritsen is; this is crime writing at its unputdownable, nerve-tingling best." (Harlan Coben)
    Members Reviews:
    Vanished Logic
I found the basic concept of this book interesting. I found its execution bush-league and the narrator the same.
The narrator insists on giving main female detective Rizzoli a Brooklyn accent. The fact Rizzoli is born and bred in Boston doesn't dawn on her.
The storyline as it proceeds is dull and the reasons given for the major crime in story are not believable and don't fit the facts presented.
Gerritsen has reached the same point as Patricia Cornwell. She is no longer writing for the reader; she's writing for revenue.
I do not recommend this book and will not read another.
    Great story, but....
I think the reader was channelling Fran Drescher when she decided what a Bostonian should sound like. What were the producers thinking?
If you can ignore the accent then the story is worthwhile.
    boston accent
Tess Gerritson always writes a great story and this was no exception. However, I am from Massachusetts and I just couldn't get past Jane Rizolli sounding like a combination of Marisa Tomei in "My Cousin Vinny" and New Jersey's Carmella Soprano.
    Tough to listen to
I love Tess Gerritsen all the way through to Mephisto Club. But this one was tough to listen to-just could not get into the dialogue the characters. The story of Anna etc was very sad, but for some reason, I wish she was the center of the story, and in this one I didn't feel the focus was on the most powerful story line.
Definitely not as great as her other books
I like to read/listen to Gerristens books, but the reader on this one had me droning out. The story line wasn't very good but the twist at the end was pretty good. In comparison to her other books this one didn't quite measure up.

    Release date: 03-09-01
    Publisher: Bantam Doubleday Dell Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 246 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
Enter Spenser, who has been hired by the comely Mary Lou Buckman to investigate the murder of her husband. The Buckmans, a pair of L.A. transplants, moved to Potshot and started a modest outdoor tour service. It is Mary Lou's belief that when her husband refused to pay The Preacher and his men protection money he was killed. Without any witnesses, Spenser has little to go on, and it's clear the local police chief won't be doing much to help. Calling on his own cadre of tried-and-true cohorts, Spenser must find a way to beat the gang at their own dangerous game.
    Critic Reviews:
"Spenser's moral compass is unerring, and it has nothing to do with political correctness. Parker breaks the mold of popular fiction." - (The Boston Globe)
"Mantegna ably captures the spirit and emotion of the people..." (AudioFile)
    Members Reviews:
    A 'POTSHOT' at Potshot
The title of this book makes almost too good of a target. OK -- To make it short and sweet -- it's got a good beat, but it's hard to dance to (my apologies to those of you too young to have watched American Bandstand). Parker's Spenser series of books have always been written sparingly, and this is no exception (As an example, Potshot has more than 50 chapters -- Parker outdoes Papa H in hes conciseness). One of the reasons that many of the previous Spenser books have worked is that Parker has kept the plot somewhat simple and, more importantly, does not include the cast of 'Ben Hur.' In this departure, there are 7,8,9, ??? characters with speaking parts in this book. Had Potshot been longer, Parker might have gotten around to fleshing the thing out. However, he stayed the course, and the result is a bunch of characters with only a patina of character development.
However, after the nit picking above, I still enjoyed the book. Spenser, Susan, and Hawk are at their best and if you have been a long time reader, you can easily forgive Parker's attempt to 'stretch' as illustrated in Potshot.
Lastly: This is an unabridged book and the reader is good enough to not get in the way.
    Same ol' Spenser
If you've read any Spenser novels before, you probably don't really care about the reviews... you're going to read (or listen to) it anyways.
That being said... you won't be disappointed by Joe Mantegna's reading of these books, although I found the accents that he gives the female characters hysterical. The "he said, she said" comment of the previous reviewer is valid, but I didn't find it overly distracting.
    a good read
I liked the narrator and the collection of characters...it kept my attention although the ending was not as crisp as I thought it could have been
    I really like the book...But
The story line and characters were quite good. And I had a hard time putting the book (mp3 player) down.
But like one of the other readers of another Robert B. Parker book said. The narrator repeating "I said", "He said", "She said" following every line of dialog, drove me crazy.
The narrator did a great job changing voices for each character, so I dont know why he has to end each line of dialog with "I said".
One of the best Spenser outings
Where does Potshot rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Potshot is one of my favorite audiobooks, but, then, I am an avid Robert Parker fan.

    Grim, miserable tale
A grim take of torture, homosexual rape and murder at a posh English boarding school. There are no redeeming characteristics here. Narration in this 2 hour audiobook was rushed and difficult to understand. I have enjoyed other books by Elizabeth George but not this one. I cannot recommend.
    Good author, poor narrator
I found the narrator very hard to understand. I thought that he spoke too quickly, and didn't enunciate well. I should have listened to the excerpt before buying. There were large segments that I just couldn't hear properly.
    Poor Quality
Very poor quality and hard to listen to. The only way I understood it was because Im familiar with the story. The story and characters are excellent as all Elizabeth George books are.
quality of the audio is awful
Very hard to hear and understand - and the music makes it even worse! Had to listen to it at .75% to even understand the words...
Great story as part of a series..but
The production values on this version were terrible. And the music signaling the ellipses of the longer book was bad. Al this was very distracting.

Alix London, the art restorer and FBI consultant renowned as the Art Whisperer, can spot a counterfeit masterpiece before the paint even dries. Not that Alix would part with it at any price. But when the mirror is abruptly stolen from her home, she realizes that someone sees more in the looking glass than mere sentimental value.
When her uncle Tiny disappears mysteriously just after the mirror is stolen, the simple art theft becomes a personal and professional challenge Alix can't ignore. With backup from her friends in the FBI, her game-for-anything pal Chris, and an aging-but-dogged Italian police detective, she delves into the puzzling case, only to find that there is much more to this theft than meets the eye. Once the Mafia shows up on the scene, Alix's mission becomes a do-or-die race to find the one possible man with all the answers.

Alix marries the FBI agent who...
...sent her dad to prison. The trouble starts with a magazine cover photo of Alix in her apartment. The photo shows a small painting that includes a mirror. The painting is recognized a corner of a famous missing 400 year old classic. Alix's uncle Tiny gave the small painting to her 20 years ago for her 12th birthday.
The Trouble with Mirrors is not my favorite novel in the Alix London series (that honor goes to A Dangerous Talent), but it comes very close to earning 5 stars. Kate Rudd's narration does earn 5 stars.
The Alix London series novels are light and fun suspense mysteries with great characters.

There is a fate worse than death in this fifth instalment of the sensational Max Wolfe series, from best-selling author Tony Parsons.

    love this series
I really enjoyed this book, the police case is relevant to today and we see the personal effect it has on ordinary police officers.
I have listened to all of the Max Wolfe series and looking forward to the next one
    I WANT A BOOK 5!
First off, if you haven't listened to the other 3 books in this series stop and start the series from book 1, The Murder Bag. This is a series that order will matter.
Parsons writes detective/ murder mystery books -- not action packed thrillers. The characters are well developed, especially over the series. Max, the main character is strong yet sensitive, brutal yet kind. He is the type of character you want on your side. I love the interaction between Max and his daughter, Scout, and their dog Stan. You can tell Parsons loves dogs. Some of his lines about our four legged friends made me laugh out loud.
Colin Mace is a master voice actor. He brings the characters to life. He makes a good book even better. Not all narrators have this skill. The quality of the recording is top notch.
I strongly recommend the entire series. If you like
Robert Galbraith, John Verdon or the Will Trent series you're most likely going to enjoy this series too. I hope there's more to come.
    Gripping Contemporary Thriller
Great characters in a strong series that is well plotted (if you can forgive the coincidences). It's pacy and full of action as well as reflections on the world as it was and how it is now. Well read by Colin Mace, he's made it his own now. Smiths of Smithfield and BMW should be pleased with their free publicity. Kept me hooked all the way.
    awesome as usual!
Colin Mace is exactly what I believe Max to sound like. He has a wonderful narrating voice and I only hope he doesn't lose the 'gig' to someone else for this series of books. Max would never be the same again if he did.
As for the story, sad, harrowing at times, touching at others. Tony Parsons doing what he does best. On to the next one now, Tony. Please?! xx
A dark tale of human trafficking
The narrator Colin Mace is excellent. Descriptions of London are sublime! Simply the unfolding of DC Max Wolfe throughout the stories has always been interesting and I hope in more books to come you get more character depth with Wolfe.

A prison break from a maximum security prison. Frantic calls from the FBI. Special Agent Riley Paige's worst nightmare has come true: a serial killer she put away years ago is loose.
Riley is used to being the one hunting, but for the first time, she finds herself - and her family - to be the ones being hunted. As the killer stalks her, he also begins a new rampage of kills, and Riley must stop him before it is too late - for the other victims, and for herself.
But this is no ordinary killer. He is too smart, and their game of cat-and-mouse too twisted, and he somehow manages to elude her and always stay one step ahead. Desperate to stop him, Riley realizes there is only one way: she must delve back into the past, into this killer's twisted mind, his old cases, and re-learn what drives him. The only way to stop him, she realizes, is to face the darkness she thought she had left behind.

The recipe for how to ruin a great story with bizarre narration!
I love this series... on Kindle. The stories, characters and even locales of the series are maimed and mispronounced by a British reader who has not even been coached with the American pronunciation of places and everyday items. In a series based on adventures of an FBI agent I can't fathom why this reader continues to be a part of these productions. Her voice is great but not for distinctly American dialog and themes. There are far too many books that would be greatly enhanced with her talents.
Wow!! I didn't think it could get better!
This one took a whole new twist on the series! You knew who she was hunting and what he was up to but there still always seemed to be a sense of surprise! I sincerely love Shane Hatcher's character and hope is around in future series.
enjoyable, I like these books, easy to listen to a
just enjoy listening from start to finish, don't like putting them down till the book is done.
