Silent Assassin has everything a thriller reader wants. (Ben Coes, national best-selling author of The Last Refuge)
"A terrifyingly thrilling story." (Michele McPhee, author of A Mob Story)
    Members Reviews:
    Mediocre at best
Story was inconsistent and took a long time to develop the plot. Certain aspects were cheesy and the title was not represented by the main character. There was nothing Silent about him and he was more like a puppet controlled by a cold hearted power crazed female who lead from the comfort of her cozy desk. Overall, this book doesn't hold a candle to the greats like Clancy and Greaney.
    Not what I hoped
Cheesy is the best way to describe this. Was eager to finish and move on.

I found this is a fun and funny mystery, and has had me laughing. With a good set of characters, in a well plotted and written mystery, that will keep you listening right until the end.
The narrator Maia Guest, makes this audiobook an enjoyable and smooth listen.

I want to smack her, but can't help liking her
I am not entirely in sympathy with Dev; she is one who likes to have her cake and eat it too, but some how she gets away with it. I suppose I wouldn't have the ...tenacity? ...guts? ...stupidity? ...whatever...that justifies the amateur private/personal investigation that I like reading about, so how can I fully enter her motivation? Neither is it absolutely realistic, but if you want realism, read true crime. Anyway, I enjoy her antics and her relationships and would like to have a milkshake at her store. I've listened to all three stories so far and look forward to the next.

From Kerry Wilkinson, the best-selling author of the Jessica Daniel novels, comes a new crime series.

    Members Reviews:
Great start to a new series.
This is my first book by this author, even though I have the first 2 in his The Silver Blackthorn Trilogy, and I have to say that I really enjoyed this!
When a man turns up saying that his son went missing 9 months ago and he feels the police have lost interest in it. He wants Andrew to investigate and see can he find him. With very little clues, three fingers were all that was found, Andrew and his assistant, Jenny, set out to see what they can find. First stop, the boys then girlfriend Lara!
Character wise, I loved both of the MCs. Andrew is such an all round great guy and Jenny is such an enigma! She has a story and I can't wait to see it unfold! She is just so fearless and odd....
Plot wise, this was relatively fast paced. The focus is on the main investigation, which is filled with twists and turns, but there are some side things happening too. I was surprised with the twist near the end and totally didn't see it coming!
In all, a great start to what will hopefully be a great series. This author knows how to keep his readers hooked!!
Nigel Patterson was as good as always. He is so easy to listen to and has a pleasant voice. He has such an "English gentleman" voice!! Lol,
*I received a free copy of this from the narrator. This in no way affected my thoughts.*
    Mystery thriller
    Any additional comments?
This audiobook is a fast paced mystery thriller. I have to stop listening at one point while driving because I was so into the thrilling narration. I finished listening when I got home.I highly recommend.
    Excellent new Mystery series
I knew I would like this story as soon as I heard Nigel Patterson acting the role of the radio announcer with the fake American accent. The next hook was the car pursuit of the wily and underestimated Stuart Deacon in his Audi, this was also my introduction to Andrew, the little bit seemingly boring P.I., and his lively assistant Jenny.
It would be difficult to add to the publishers blurb without spoilers, so I won't, but needless to say, there are many twists to this story. The beauty of it is though, is that this is the first story of a series, and as such, cleverly lays the foundations for future stories.
Now what about Jenny? Well, being the assistant to a private investigator, we know that she is bound by the laws of crime fiction to be clever and quick witted, and also to be very good with computers. She is all of these, yet Jenny is also a Very Odd Person, and I look forward to reading or listening to her story.

New York Times bestselling and award-winning authors Allison Brennan and Laura Griffin team up for their second book featuring the unforgettable Southern California detective duo, Moreno & Hart.
Danger comes from all sides as private investigators Scarlet Moreno and Krista Hart tackle two new cases:
    Hit
Scarlet Moreno gets a panicked call from long-time friend Jason Jones, an LAPD street cop wanted for killing his girlfriend. Paranoid with no one to trust, he reaches out to Scarlet for help. Before they can figure out who set him up, a SWAT team descends, Jason runs, and Scarlet is left with questions she can't answer when the police show up. She's determined to prove Jason innocent, but the cops want him behind bars and someone else wants him dead. As Scarlet digs deeper into the murky case, she realizes that whoever is framing Jason wants her dead, too - and it might connect to the ambush that nearly killed her and Krista three years ago.
    and Run
Krista Hart doesnt want to team up with rival private detective R.J. Flynn. And she definitely doesnt want to help an unscrupulous trial lawyer get away with murder. But when R.J. pulls her into his latest high-profile case, Krista realizes that nothing about the murder of a beautiful Laguna Beach housewife is quite what it seems. Krista sets out to uncover the truth - no matter whose side it helps - and manages to provoke all the wrong people, including a vicious murderer who wont hesitate to kill again and then make a run.

Need More Moreno and Hart NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What made the experience of listening to Hit and Run the most enjoyable?
The storyline, the characters! I couldn't wait to see where Moreno and Hart were headed after the end of CRASH AND BURN, and they SOOOOO didn't disappoint!
What other book might you compare Hit and Run to and why?
I have read every book of Laura Griffins, so I'd say if you enjoyed this, you should definitely look into her TRACERS, and Marie Force's FATAL SERIES, I would Highly Suggest.
What does Joyce Bean and Kate Rudd bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Really getting in the head and heart of these two ladies was so much fun! I am new to Audio Books and I had so much fun listening to HIT AND RUN. The Narrators were on point and the "male" characters didn't sound so horrible..haha
    Any additional comments?
I just can't wait for the next in the series...they keep leaving me wanting MORE MORE MORE!!
    Enjoyed the book!
I enjoy the series. The plots are realistic and the issues in their life are relatable to listeners. This book was fun. My only request is, 1) make the books a little longer in length. 9 hours of listening time would be great. 2) put the partners together a little more.
One more thing. Please let RJ and Scarlet get along.

Nell goes digging herself, and soon uncovers a long, rich history of crime.

    Not Sure About This Series
I found the museum setting interesting. The story made me aware of the difficulties in
the safe keeping of thousands of items, some of which have great monetary value. It also made me aware of how difficult it is to fund a non-profit museum.
I like Eleanor Pratt, the main character. She's smart and sensible. I'm also intrigued by "Marty", another female character who plays a major role in this story.
One criticism is that I correctly guessed the outcome early in the story. I won't go into detail to avoid "spoilers". There was also one element of the plot that seemed pointless to me - again I won't elaborate because of possible "spoilers."
I'm undecided about whether I will read other books in this series. I will put it on my "wish list" and carefully check reviews posted by other listeners.
Good First Book in a Series
Would you listen to Fundraising the Dead again? Why?
Perhaps. Since I'm a Philadelphia museum fundraiser myself, I really enjoyed the inside jokes and details that might be a bit tedious to others.
If youve listened to books by Sheila Connolly before, how does this one compare?
    This was my first.
Have you listened to any of Robin Miless other performances before? How does this one compare?
    This was my first.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not really, though I think that it COULD be listened to in one sitting. It's not overly complex (even formulaic at times), but it's a fun, light read.
    Awesome Storyline
What an amazing writer with an amazing insight to the role fundraising in a museum setting... Great storyline with very strong characters!!! The author is a fantastic mystery writer.....
    Another good series...
What did you love best about Fundraising the Dead?
Good book, well written. Love mystery novels and stories that have some humour, and books that don't reveal the conclusion before the end of the book. A good mystery keeps the mystery.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Fundraising the Dead?
When the heroine was locked in the basement.
a pleasing book to listen to
I loved the use of language which was a little above ordinary. the voices and accents were pleasing also. I'm a fundraiser and this was a fun read/listen because it was centered around a fundraiser and the nonprofit world.

Now Clare must investigate "Saint Nick", crash a pro-hockey party, and dodge a pair of reality TV divas - because she's not going to rest until justice is served.
    Members Reviews:
    Cookies can be murder
Clare Cozy and almost all of our favorite Village Blend Coffeehouse characters are back in a holiday mystery while they are celebrating with cookie events with cookies from around the world. Moirin is a new young Irish employee that everyone enjoys. She bakes the cookies for the coffeehouse, but actually works at the bakery that developed the cookies. She's a music lover too, but sadly, she's bludgeoned to death at a cookie festival event. Clare found her body and is determined to find her killer with a little help from her boyfriend, family, and her baristas.
I love this series for so many reasons. The Cleo Coyle writing team always adds numerous interesting facts, local information, and yummy sounding recipes to their mysteries. In this one, there are added characters that are a take off from reality TV that are a laugh and a half. The mystery is compelling with clues on every page. We also hear more and more about Clare's love life with her, Detective Mike Quinn, who is on a secret duty in Washington, DC. One of my very favorite cozies done in audio. The spoken accents add so much to my enjoyment of this series. Looking forward to the new one in this series coming in November 2014.
    Love Them All!
I've enjoyed all the books so far & hope there will be more real soon!
    Another great Cosi Mystery
I have enjoyed every one of the Coffeehouse Mysteries on audiobooks. The narrator, Rebecca Gibel is awesome!
In this book, Claire Cosi's Irish immigrant barista is murdered during their annual Christmas cookie swap and Claire will leave no stone unturned to find her barista's killer and bring him or her to justice.
Written for a 10 year old
Overly simple, and I found the narrator annoying. I couldn't stand it more than a few minutes. Grammar, tone, sentence structure made this a poor listen.
Claire has it all knowed up in this one...
Honestly, I was uncomfortable with how much smarter, wilier, and intuitive the heroine was (than the mean, stupid, unmovable detective) in this one.

    Critic Reviews:
A damn good read Its a book to gulp down, and although Rowling may now be a bona fide Olympic-opening-ceremony-level celeb, the skill with which this book is written tells you as much as its subject-matter does that writing is the core of her life. 5 stars. (Telegraph)
A pacey detective story a tightly stitched updating of the classic tale of the dishevelled but brilliant private dick, smattered with references to 19th-century French literature and pre-Levenson sleuthing tactics, alongside well-realised characters... moreish (Independent)
Strike felt a sudden weariness wash over him. What was this mania to appear in print? But no such question arises about JK Rowlings second career as a crime writer. Shes really hitting her stride here. (Evening Standard)
Writing as Robert Galbraith has been a pure joy, Rowling has said. So has reading him. The last line of The Silkworm, which will lift the hearts of readers who have come to love its deeply sympathetic characters, offers the prospect of more of that joy both for her and for us. (USA Today)
Astutely observed, well-paced and full of Rowling's trademark acerbic wit, The Silkworm thoroughly engages as a crime novel. But it might be even more enjoyable to read between the lines in search of what Rowling has to say about fame, publishing, and the modern writer's life. (People)
Why is likable the first word that comes to mind upon finishing The Silkworm? Surely, that has something to do with Rowlings palpable pleasure in her newly chosen genre (the jig may be up with her Robert Galbraith pseudonym, but the bloom is still on her homicidal rose) and even more to do with her detective hero, who, at the risk of offending, is the second husband of every authors dreams. (Washington Post)
Rowlings fans will find the novel - which isnt in stores until next Thursday - worth the wait. (Daily News)
The Silkworm is a deeply satisfying work of crime fiction, more complex and darker than its predecessor. Yet Rowling has a lot of fun, too, especially in her knowing depiction of the incestuous worlds of publishing and the media.

    Very Good
I like the Miss Silver books. They are nice easy listening even if she is a bit like Angela Lansbury in Murder She Wrote. This one I thought was an exceptionally good one.
I love the Miss Silver mysteries!
The Miss Silver mysteries are fun to listen to. They have just enough detail to keep you interested. I listen while doing dishes or other housework not requiring a vacuum.
One of the best Miss Silvers
This is my favorite Miss Silver so far, and I've listened to a bunch of them. "William Smith" comes back from World War II with a head injury that left him with no memory of who he actually is. The ID tags thrust on him in Germany gave him a name, but it's clear (because of class issues, as always in classical British mysteries) he is not the William Smith of the tag. This psychological mystery is surprisingly creepy as William gradually recovers his memory, the moment of truth playing out in a sort of mental time travel back and forth for hours that gave me goosebumps -- very effective writing. The episode of the apple honey gift was also creepy and suspenseful. This is a complex and tightly plotted mystery.
Miss Silver helps out because her upper-class policeman, Frank Abbott, actually knows our William ---- but can't remember his name. And because for no obvious reason, somebody keeps trying to kill him, over and over, too often succeeding with other victims by mistake. William Smith is a charming and responsible young man with a lot of talent, and a new girlfriend who teams up with him surprisingly quickly --- but who is he, really? Miss Silver will help him find out.
    Loved it
I really enjoyed this unusual plot line. Great narrator . Looking forward to the next "Miss Silver" mystery.

This is a bvague plot executed in snatches between sex scenes. Because the conflict is all external, the sex has no emotional punch. And Kathleen becomes nothing but a brood mare despite her smarts.
12hrs for 3 hrs of story
The worst of the series. All "romance" if you equate sex with romance, almost no story.
    Tired of so much romance
I really liked this series at first but the last 2 books were more romance than anything thing, and how many times can the same people be involved with a death happening and the police aren't suspicious.
    Sad it's over...
I've enjoyed this series. I'm happy with the way things ended, especially for 2 reasons 1 - the love triangle was resolved 2 - the author didn't keep us on pins and needles for 20 odd books with no resolution of the love triangle. Tiffany Snow gave us 5 books and didn't make us wait until the end of book 5 to find out who "got the girl". For that I'm very grateful.
    Last book went sideways
What a disappointing ending to a great series.
Kathleen was stupid and cruel and Kade was selfish. The only good guy was Blane and he got the shaft!
