frustrating

There were so many times where I rolled my eyes and wanted to yell "Just tell the truth!!" I have no clue why Penny wouldn't say what Isabella sent her or why she she wouldn't tell Zack the truth about her bruise when what he thought was so much worse. The beginning of the book started off good but half way through I started to get frustrated and wanting it to end so the truth would come out.

Return to Scotland

Dorothy Emily Stevenson (D. E. Stevenson), first cousin once removed to Robert Louis Stevenson and born in Edinburgh sets many of her delightful novels in Scotland. In this novel, set and written in the early 1950's when the impact of WWII, including rationing of food and petrol (gasoline) was still impacting the island of Britain, James returns from military service in the Far East to live on a farm in the Scottish boarders area with his aunt and uncle and learn to be a farmer.

This book contains some mystery, some romance, and much more. Real characters that the reader comes to care about. A location in Scotland that is a delight.

This book is the second in a trilogy. The first, Vittoria Cottage, is already available from Audible. Hopefully the third (titled Winter and Rough Weather in England and Shoulder the Sky in the US) will be added soon. Leslie Mackie has a delightful Scots accent that adds a touch of atmosphere to the story, while still being easy for the American listener to understand.

What made the experience of listening to Music in the Hills the most enjoyable?

If you are sick listening to the F word every sentence and you dont want to think that men think only about sex and if you cannot stand Sebastian Yorks voice this might be the series for you. I listened all the way through . It has a good story, it is of another time and it is beautiful. Hardworking folks, considerate, caring. Beautiful setting. Some intrigue.

I didnt love the narration all the time, but it was good.

I want more dog!

Mackenzie Harris is returning to her hometown in Maine for the first time since getting left at the altar seven years earlier, this time to be maid of honor in her best friends wedding, in Jenn McKinlays new romantic comedy About a Dog. The disastrous event has influenced the whole of her life ever since, even to the extent that she has dated Trevor, a safe man, for five years even though her friends dont like him just because he is convenient but not passionate enough to hurt her. But now that she is returning to Maine, her best friend, Emma, has asked her to serve as the date of Gavin, Emmas younger brother, not having a clue that on the night of getting jilted, Mac slept with Gavin. Also, Trevor has decided to take a break from their relationship, depriving her of the excuse of having a boyfriend when facing Gavin. Now that she has arrived, things are awkward for Mac in having to face Gavin, but despite having had relationships in the interim, Gavin still cant stop thinking about the woman he fell in love with seven years earlier.

The friends in the wedding party do lots of things together, throwing Mac and Gavin together frequently. But Mac tries to avoid spending time one-on-one with Gavin because he is her best friends younger brother until one day she rescues a stray puppy and takes the puppy to Gavin, the local vet, to be examined. Taking care of Tulip, as Mac dubs the puppy, brings the couple together.

For a book titled About a Dog, I was disappointed not to see more material dealing with the dog. The dog figures as a secondary character in the book but is a loveable character whom I really wanted to get to know better. I did appreciate the way that the book works to educate people about the value of rescue dogs and that the mixed breeds are just as special as pure bred dogs. I also find it significant that Tulip is part pit bull, yet is a sweet and gentle dog. However, Gavin points out that with her heritage, Tulip would have only a 1 in 600 chance of getting adopted at the local animal shelter and thus most likely would be killed. I appreciated the education about dogs, and rescue dogs in particular, that this book includes.

The story in this book has some good things, but it seemed to go around in circles at times in its repeatedly having Mac and Gavin try but not quite succeed in hooking up. This felt repetitive and thus the book seemed to have less plot than it could have had. I also got really tired of the many scenes in which the couple come close to having sex, with very graphic depictions of their actions. And of course they finally do go all the way, complete with a vivid description of every move they make. Why must romance novels feature graphic sex? Sex and love are not synonymous, so Id like to read about more love and less sex.

Great sexy fun!

This was such a fun book to listen to! Take one hunky Greek guy, add in his interfering but loving family, a beautiful Italian girl who owns a bakery and a secret and you have a great story. I loved the interactions with his family! The storyline is original and well written. The narration is really well done too. This was a new author to me, but I'm going to be looking for more of her books.

Loved it!

Cute and enticing story! When a series of mishaps places one of Calista's very personal secrets up on Twitter for all to see, she's mortified! When Heath offers his expertise in her area of need, Calista is wary.

I enjoyed the story and felt the plot was interesting. It flowed well and before you know it, I was vested in these two. Their sexy banter was just yummy! All in all a great short read!

Quick and hot

Great writing! But I really want to know why the heroine is always on social media. Hot love scenes but it's the stuff fantasies are made of and that unrealistic fantasy sort of killed my vibe just a bit. It's a great and quick story and I hope that you will give it a chance for the simple fact that it is an awesome little hot escape.

Romance of France

Struggling to deal with life's challenges newly single Katherine makes a brave choice. Where it leads is soul searching and beautiful. The descriptions of the scenery and food make me want to jump on a plane and head to Provence!!

A sweet escape

This book was a delight in many ways, almost like a little vacation. I have never been to Provence, but it made me want to visit! What I liked especially about the first half of the book was that it seemed so realistic. More like the events might've actually happened to the author rather than a fictional story, and how Kat coped with the events in her life was inspiring. There were fits and starts just like in real life, instead of everything just falling magically into place. After she became involved with Phillippe, however, it started sounding more like a fairy tale. It could happen, I guess, but it seems unlikely that a 55 year old, certainly menopausal woman would strike up a love affair with a man ten years younger. I wonder, too, if real people would be so quick to open their lives to a foreign stranger, as her new French friends did, treating her like family from the get-go, though it's nice to imagine they might. Apart from a few errors in the French text, such as incorrect gender usage, the book was very well written and edited. The descriptions of Provence, it's culture and scenery, came alive for me. I plan to read the sequel.

Book your ticket for a trip to France

Loved this story of rebirth and love, set (mostly) in Provence. The descriptions of French countryside were yummy. I also really appreciated the exploration of female friendships, and how nurturing/valuable they can be, especially as one grows older. Loved the dog, Pico, and hope he appears in the follow-up stories! This kind, wise book was really like a vacation in the south of France.

A beautiful story

This will help anyone frightened about moving on when their life seems over. Taking place in one of the most beautiful parts of France only add to the magic. I do visit the area and this brought back many memories. I also learned about home share which interests me. The interesting love story I a big plus. The story will have you packing your bags.

Sexy short story

Falling Under You was great in audio. I definitely loved it more this time than when I read it when it was published. I loved the exchange of power between Norma and Boyd. I loved how their relationship grew with time and the awesome ending. The narration was amazing too. Carly transmitted Normas personality very accurately. Her voice was soft and sexy and serious and commanding, a perfect contrast with Normas personality. And when she was taking for Boyd, her inflection was commanding and strong and made me love Boyd so much.

3.5 STARS.. SACCHARIN SWEET, SEXY & DRAMA-LITE

This is an introduction into the Whiskey clan where all the men are part-time bikers and they are a tight loving and loyal family group who would defend each other to the hilt.. or die trying. I haven't listened to it but the 33 yr old sexy hero Bear is first introduced in the book Tru Blue where he first meets sassy 30 yr old Crystal and he's forever hooked. This book starts off 8 months later and Bear has been steadily trying to woo and wear Crystal down - but he doesn't yet realize that she has erected some very high walls to protect her and a bitter secret that has, understandably, changed her. She puts on a hardass front which hides her sensitive heart but very slowly Bear's caring, supportive, attentive, loyal and very tempting self allows Crystal to start opening up, to start trusting, to start feeling and to finally let her walls crumble.

Bear does this by one touch, one conversation, one look and one thoughtful step at a time and this saintly sexy hero deserves an award for his patience, his unwavering understanding and his devotion which truly was remarkable. Crystal took a long time before she'd finally let Bear touch her and, once she slowly allowed her bases to be touched, sexy times followed. Although this is very much a relationship driven story, strong family values and demands are also present.. as well as a broken family who still hold on to secrets.

I'll be honest, it took me a little while to warm to this storyline because it robbed me of the h/h's first meeting and their first feelings.. but I slowly got over it and, for the most part, I enjoyed it. BUT it was sweet enough to give you cavities and it dragged a bit because there was simply no drama.. no angst.. no heated words.. and no misunderstandings. As the chapters slowly bled into each other I thought ok this is all very touching but where's the rocky road.. the rollercoaster.. the bad guy..? no, then what about an argument.. a hiccup.. or even a swear word? - but alas none of the above. It had plenty of heart and heat which I loved and some emotional baggage too which was all good but, for me, it was missing a little bit of drama. This is standalone but I think that I personally would have preferred to listen to it after Tru Blue because of the h/h's first meeting - and because some of the other characters were first introduced in that book.
