A NICELY PACED CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

Charlie is an unknown Sculptress making weird and wonderful pieces of garden art out of scrap metal and metallic rubbish and she's also a part-time Welding Teacher too. She has a disabled Mom living in a Care Home so, when the sexy gorgeous and charming Sebastian turns up at her Studio to commission her and makes her an offer she can't refuse, she thinks how much this will change her Mom's life..... but the handsome Billionaire is going to rock her world too.

Charlie is very independent, caring and loving and, as soon as she sets eyes on Sebastian, she's drawn to him but past relationships are making her tread very carefully. Sebastian is generous, thoughtful, supportive and kind but he has emotional demons haunting him from his childhood so, even though Charlie has mezmerized him from the start, he wants to take their relationship slowly because he feels Charlie could be 'the one'. This starts a beautiful relationship where he simply can't stay away from Charlie and becomes entwined in everything to do with her life - and Charlie's just as attracted, just as captivated and just as willing to please and support Sebastian.

A really nicely paced love story where the H and H are both struck with Cupid's arrow from their very first meeting but they actually take time to get to know one another before jumping into bed (not very graphic sex scenes) and there's a maturity about all their thoughts and interactions. But Sebastian's constantly tortured by his memories and this makes him question whether they are right for each other or whether they're relationship will become toxic.

A MAGNETIC PUSH-PULL TALE WHEN OPPOSITES ATTRACT

Summer lived with her Mom in small town Quincy where everybody knew everybody..... including everybody's business and, for four years, Summer had been gossiped about and shunned because of something she had rightly, naively and recklessly done to her cheating Fiancé. So, when a gay Movie Scout needed her help with arrangements for a potential blockbuster they were going to film in her town, Summer jumped at the chance to help - and to make a much needed solitary friend. But what she never planned for was the gorgeous, talented and award winning Actor Cole Masten to completely rock her world..... and completely knock her plans for the future way off course.

A very enjoyable listen as these two likeable characters challenged, fought, insulted and lobbed weighted banter like granades designed to destroy but underneath it all was mutual attraction, hopeless desire and sizzling chemistry that was, despite efforts to snuff it out, about to ignite and burn. The book was heavy on their backgrounds and they didn't actually meet until Chapter 26 but when they did the gloves were put on long before the clothes came off. It was fun, sweet, sexy, angst-ridden and entertaining to watch these two battle each other, battle their desires and finally give in to the heady attraction for each other that ended up totally consuming them both. Dual POV's, a Cockrel made for some amusing scenes and a narrator who's character's voices were all fine but, IMO, I didn't particularly like her Hero's voice (which wasn't sexy, male or Alpha enough for me).

John is now thinking about Michelle NIGHT and DAY...He can barely 'concentrate' on his ranch work......LOL..... Michelle has secrets of her own. She had been abused by her ex husband. This is an early Linda Howard and one of her better ones. The passion is HOT. Both John and Michelle are likeable and hold our interest. Look for White Lies by Linda Howard and Dreamscape in December.

Could have done without it

Skipped to the end. I wish that the narrator had not tried to do the manly voices--should have just read it. Maybe that's the reason the book didn't have the drama/mystery that most LH's are. Will probably try to return it.

Another Linda Howard winner!

I love the way Ms Howard allows us to know her characters. You can so easily picture in your mind the way they look, think and react. She never leaves the reader hanging on even the smallest detail. This is a good story and The narrator does s good job job with it.

One of my all time Favorite books....

With the WORST narration,ever!!! Such a shame,I bought the audiobook because I have read,and re=read this book several times,but the narration was dry and mechanical,almost like computer narration. It really ruined the experience for me.. I urge anyone reading this review to READ the book,and SKIP the narration!!

Heartbreaker

I read this book originally years ago. It is still as good now as it was then. The audible version is excellent. Great narration.

Perfect. Loved every minute. Kristan Higgins is a genius with romantic comedy. And Xe Sands is one of the best narrators out there. She could read me the phone book!

Fools Rush In by Kristan Higgins (Audio Edition)

I have had this book in my tbr pile for a while. Some of the reviews were not that favourable, so it kept getting pushed down the line. However, I finally decided to listen to it, largely because I love listening to Xe Sands (the narrator) and also because Kristan Higgins hasnt steered me wrong so far.

The characters: Millie, she seemed a bit immature to me for a good chunk of this story. The whole stalking a crush is very much a high school girl thing and just seemed a bit pathetic for a smart woman, on the other hand I can see how shed perhaps kept that crush alive in her mind for so long, that she just wanted it to happen.albeit desperately. She had some good growth in the book, which I liked to see and in the end she was a decent character.

Joe.. oy! That guy was too much. Some of the crap he pulled mad me just plain angry.. Then for Millie to just accept it! UGH!!! Whatever.. His immaturity matched Millies during that part of the book so, I guess I cant complain too much. He had his sweet guy moments but he definitely wasnt a normal Higgins hero that I would fall in love with.

Enter in Sam. Heres the hero.. Hes a good guy, sweet, funny, caring. All the good stuff. I enjoyed his straightforwardness and conversations with Millie. The naturalness between these two is one of the reasons I kept reading (the other pretty much was the narrator, I truly love her voice). Sam's teenage son Danny was also a great addition, and I really enjoyed the bond between him and Millie.

Now.. for the subplot I will admit that I did get weirded out by the whole ex-brother-in-law turned lover, for the sole reason that he had a kid that, if this turned to marriage, would have to switch from her being Aunt Millie and now think of her as his step-mother.. But I must say.. Kristan Higgins even wrote this well. When it came right down to this part of the book.. I was fine with it.

In the end, this wasnt a favourite of mine by this author but I am glad I read it.

Didnt hold my attention!

This book did not do a very good job of grabbing and keeping my attention.

WOW, IT WAS EPIC.. & I WANT TO GIVE IT MORE STARS

This listen was just as thrilling and awesome as book 1 with just as many plot twists that you'll never see coming and a breathtaking romance that was tested over and over again but Alex and Emilia's love held true no matter what the Cartel, the Cops, life and fate threw at them.

There was heartbreaking choices, tension, danger, blood and bullets, suspense, second chances, a wealth of characters, a loveable hero and heroine, hospital visits and hospital stays, shocks, surprises, romance, sex, and a HEA ending. And finally, all the emotional turmoil that I went through along with this couple, was washed away by the beautiful Epilogue.

For me, Rebecca Shea will be an auto download from now on because she has wowed and blown me away with this Bound and Broken story as I never thought it would be so powerful, intense, gripping, nerve wracking, heartbreaking, emotional, romantic and such an absolute joy to listen to. I also hope any future books will continue to be narrated by VA and EM because their narration brought a heartbeat to all the characters, set the perfect emotional atmosphere to each chapter and enabled me to feel the heartache, the drama, the turmoil, the danger and the love as the story skilfully unfolded.

Worth a credit? I lived and breathed Alex, Emilia and Sam's story for two straight days now and I've loved every moment - so YES worth the credit..... and the sleepless nights and the cash spent on fast food dinners and the cost of my family's fractured patience with me as I became totally engrossed in this bitter-sweet love story.

Rebecca Shea sure knows how to tell a story!!

Loved this second and final book in the Broken and Bound series. Seeing how the story ends after the heart wrenching cliffhanger of the first book was a tumultuous ride filled with both heartache and joy! The narration was extremely well done by both the male and female leads which makes the Audible version of the book come to life!!

Bound by this author!

My comments apply to both books. A completely engrossing story which held me captive from beginning to end with a plot full of romance and so many twists and turns which surprised me over and over. It certainly was unlike the usual events in a story which one could anticipate as a story unfolded. I know I will listen again and again to this well written story. I look forward to more of this author's work!

This book is just average. There is no excitement or intrigue and very little romance. The narrator was terrible.

My Musings

The dialogue is a bit stiff. I listened to the audio version and didn't care for the narrator at all. The plot is good and I liked the heroine but didn't really get into the hero. Happy reading!

could have been a great story

Did not care for the performer. She did not get the tone or timber of the characters voices. The men's voices were stilted without proper inflection. It really took away from the story. I also think the story ended too abruptly... needed a couple more chapters to tie everything together better.

I liked the premise of the story, just feel the author rushed to the end and left a lot of the story out that would have provided a better transition to the ending.

Slow start, but good overall.

It took a LONG time for me to get into the story. At a high level, the plot was surprisingly compelling, but it took way took long to get there. It was also confusing how the author jumped around from first to third person, depending on who the chapter was about. Ultimately, it made sense. Still, I think it would have been more fluid if she had kept to third person omniscient. I also felt it wasn't well edited. While I listened to the book instead of reading it, I still caught some problems. In fact, the saying that grates on my nerves the most, "could care less," was included. I know, I am nitpicking, but any editor should have caught that. Back to the big picture... I think that if this book was half as long as it was, it would have been a lot better. The last couple of chapters were what changed my opinion from questioning, "Why am I continuing to listen to this," to "I'm glad I listened."

I wanted to like it more

Nice read

Found this one in my KU and was able to listen as well as read! I liked it but I didn't love it. Story was just ok. Very emotional though. Had some sexy time. Without giving spoilers....I just feel like I need more info about Anya.

heart breaking.

On the practical side, I loved the two narators. Both , in particular Richards, have terrific tone in their voices. And both performed their chapters with great flair, affording a fabulous imagery to a very moving story.

And the story. The story just bleeds emotion for Anya and Jack..the secondary couple...while drawing stark comparison to the younger less wiser main leading couple who have their own journey to travel thats as frustrating as it is normal.

This story and it's performance is an easy recommendation to anyone wanting a bit impact, more thought,far more depth and more impact to their romance story other than just another romance with a dash of naughty, while knowing the leading couple will be ok. It's beautiful while achingly sad in its HEA.

Did not finish

Loved the other books by this author so was keen for another can't put down book. This one had little substance to the story line. Could've been so much better!

Love Boxed Sets

I enjoyed all these stories. The boxed sets are nice, because you really get your credits worth. Unlike books that go on for 19 hrs or more and seen to never end, these are separate books, with one story leading in to another.

The sweetest of treasures.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Samantha Chase can charm the hardest of hearts with her adorable characters. All of Me is her at her finest. Once the stories began, the saddest moment for me was realizing I'd reached the end.

What did you like best about this story?

I love stories about strong families. Add in a matchmaking father and some obviously clueless sons and Ms. Chase creates a recipe for love. I was a goner.

What does Kevin T. Collins bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

Mr. Collins brings the story to life. He gives a voice to an already larger than life family. Ever y emotion from love to lust is conveyed. Pacing proved a bit of a problem in some areas but overall he did a good job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I loved this box set so much I bought the ebook set before I even listened to the audio book. I would have loved to finish listening all at once, but this is a set after all.

Predictable

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This was too much cliche, standard format-- nothing special. Characters are not realistic. I purchased this as a discounted offer and won't bother with the rest of the series.

Not enough romance

For most of the book the hero was angry with the heroine for getting pregnant while heroine was a doormat. I liked the premise of the book, and the characters evolved individually. Unfortunately, the romance between the two just got started when the story ended. Not for me so I returned it.

Sweet little story

Sweet but predictable. Reminded me of the books I read as a teenager. Enjoying the series so far!

What made the experience of listening to A Baby of Her Own the most enjoyable?

There was some humor, but the farfetched relationship turning into pure happiness it a little out there. If I was reading it, I would have quit and put it down.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

No movie, too silly.

Entertaining and predictable

This book was entertaining and predictable but I'm not complaining. I needed a light listen that would keep me interested and it did just that. I'm hoping book two will be as well since I will be listening to that one too.
