    Title: Dynamic Parts
    Subtitle: A Collection of Poems
    Author: Matthew Ryan Defibaugh
    Narrator: Nola Zandry
    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 49 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-08-15
    Publisher: Matthew Defibaugh
    Genres: Drama & Poetry, Poetry
    Publisher's Summary:
From the preface: "When I was four years old, I was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a neuromuscular disease that results in the progressive weakening of the skeletal muscles and eventually the heart. I started writing poetry when I was 13 years old, not long before I began relying on a wheelchair to get around. Dynamic Parts contains a few of the poems I have created since then.... Dynamic Parts covers diverse topics, including nature, life, death, leisure, and love."
"Defibaugh's debut collection features stylistically and thematically diverse poems written over his 16 years in a wheelchair." (Kirkus Reviews) "...[H]is poems cover a wide selection of feelings and experiences, both his own and those he perceives of others. Some poems are quite short, almost haiku-like, while others have stanzas and refrains and seem almost epic-like in their fullness." (Jack Magnus, Readers' Favorite)

A easy and great read for many
Written with heartfelt passion & emotion. Matthew really writes and chooses his words carefully and effectively. A easy and great read for many. Enjoyed it myself!
    Creativity Trumps Disability
I like several of the images in the poems, such as the lemonade stand, the church service, and the father's struggle with heart disease. I think this poet needs to mature in craftsmanship; for example, rhymes are too often forced. For a person to fight through a disability to make art, however, is a triumph of the human spirit.
We can go on and on about this stunning work of art, however, to sum it all up, this was truly a remarkable literary masterwork
Matthew Ryan Defibaugh, author of the awe-inspiring poetry book entitled, Dynamic Parts, surpassed the standard poetry expectations by far! As modest as he may present himself to be as a poet, Matthew securely possesses a definite talent for igniting life into the breath of words in such an amazingly intelligent and creative manner. He elaborates and articulates on some of the most pivotal as well as simplest moments in life. It is explicitly personal as the author describes some of his innermost emotions in an utterly graceful fashion! This is not at all the work of an amateur, for he knows exactly what he is doing and it is effortlessly unveiled within the authorâs astounding skill and technique!
It is his great attention to detail that many writers overlook which creates his own distinct style and artistic flare, exclusively differentiating him from many other poets. He makes you want to grab a few lines directly from off of the paper and store them in your pockets for safekeeping, perhaps to show off to your friends for later.

All characters in this book are fictitious and have no resemblances to any people living or deceased.
I wrote this book over a three-month period of travel around Thailand and put it together in Bradley Beach, New Jersey, over the winter of 2012-2013.
I began it one early morning on waking up at 2:00 a.m. and just had to write the thoughts down that were in me and were calling to be said. I have added a few things since I finished it as some kind of explanation as to why and what.
Of course all the people are not real ones, and any similarities are just that: similarities.

"Amazingly graceful light plays shadow tag with sleepy fog and billowy clouds - awakening autumn's hillside hues...."
    "Maternal Music"
"Softly sweeping, rhythmically sweeping - maternal music continuing - in springtime, in sunshine - in all times. No colorful kerchief needed - flowers provide ample colors and fragrances - maternal memories and dove-soft love - for countless generations to come."
    "Fox Trot Envy"
"She dances divinely on silvered snow, her ebony-tipped auburn coat - sleek in frigid air. Oh, to be so slender. Oh, to be so agile. Oh, to have such shimmering hair - Oh, never-mind. I much prefer my winter den to hers."
    "As We Journey On"
"Let's be sunrise - not sunset. Let's be brightness rising - not dimness declining. Let's be sunrays rosy with joyfulness and awakening. Let's be prisms of infinite inspiration and kaleidoscope colors. Let's be stillness and peace embracing all."

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 1 hr and 12 mins
    Language: English

    Publisher: Maryum Publishing
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Drama & Poetry, Poetry
    Publisher's Summary:
All of the poems in this book are great examples of what not to say. This collection of poetry is a reflection of unfiltered thoughts about people, life's circumstances, and relationships, on a bad day. This book is refreshingly boldly honest, hilarious and a bit troubling. Remy mocks self absorbed people in, "Pride Monster, Do What You Have To Do, Get Out Of My Seat, I'm Your Frienemy." This book is not for those who deny ever having a bad day or toxic people in your life. This is revenge poetry at it's best!

Extra Star Bercause I Feel Badly For The Author
    Any additional comments?
Seriously?: 102 poems from an agitated state
The opening to this 50 minutes collection of poems is quite apparent in what she is about to do. She has written a poem about everyone who has ever "done wrong" to her [perceived or real.]
The summary claims this is a collection of things not to say. Unless it is tongue-in-cheek I feel very badly that the author has had these experiences. It seems she cannot get along with anyone.
I didn't find any humor in it and I'm pretty easily amused. It was just over an hour of - whining isn't the right word grumbling about people from her past.
If this is her existence or even if she has risen above what these poems portray, I would say she is seriously unfortunate and perhaps should look within.
Each poem was melodious and easily this is not the art of a great genius I am not a poetry's a snob, however I am certain that I could come up with 102 poems about people I know that would sound very much like these but with some agitation and some happiness.
The narrator, Barbara Colton did a good job, though the material didn't seem to be especially challenging. I will look for other work by her but not the author.
*I was given a copy of this book to listen to in exchange for my opinion, thoughts and this review.*
Notes: There may have been at cuss word or two, nothing to speak of
Credit worthy/$: Not for me not anytime not anyway. It is just over an hour long and at this writing $6.95
