    Head Coach of the Washington Commanders Ron Rivera made some national headlines by answering questions about offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy’s coaching style and letting the media know that players had come to him saying they were a little concerned with the intensity. Eric Bieniemy doubled down on his coaching style, saying that he will be each player’s harshest critic, but that he would also be their biggest fan as well. Rivera then came out the next day with a written statement backtracking the comments. What did you make of the whole situation? Big deal or no big deal?

    The Commanders play football tonight against the Cleveland Browns! For the first time in over 20 years, the franchise will play a game under new ownership. The game can be seen tonight at 730pm ET on FOX. What are you hoping to see from our Commanders? Any particular players that you want to see do well?

    The Washington Commanders have some big contract decisions to make this offseason and next offseason. We focus today on S Kam Curl and his need for a contract extension. The former 7th round pick in 2020 has outplayed his draft stock so well that even if he were a 1st round pick, he would have been a home run pick. Should the Washington Commanders invest in Kam Curl long-term, knowing that Chase Young and Montez Sweat are also due? If you had to pick 2 of the 3 players to extend, which 2 would you choose?     Switching over to the offensive side of the football, new OC Eric Bieniemy has been a fan and media darling with his old school approach to the game, making sure the offense is playing with urgency and adding a couple wrinkles (no look and shovel passes, respectively) from his Kansas City Chiefs days. That being said, it’s his first season as the offensive coordinator here in Washington. What are expectations for Eric Bieniemy and this group?

  • Sam Howell Hype! Has The Real Chase Young Returned?

    The Washington Commanders are now in training camp, and we have a couple big names to talk about this week: Chase Young and Sam Howell.

    Chase Young, former #2 overall pick for our franchise, is headed into the final year of his deal after having his 5th year team option declined. So far, reports on Chase Young are that he is looking as fresh physically as he ever has! He’s been working out at Ohio State with his former defensive line coach Larry Johnson (as has fellow pass rusher and teammate Montez Sweat, also in a contract year). How are you feeling about Chase Young right now and what are expectations this coming season?
    No season can be successful in the modern NFL without solid QB play. Sam Howell, last year’s 5th round pick, enters training camp as the starter and he is setting social media alight with his play right now. He is connecting with Terry McLaurin, placing the ball to perfection for the superstar WR. What do you make of these reports and clips?
    There’s nothing better than live action for players. We go back and review Sam Howell’s performance against the Dallas Cowboys in week 18 of last season and whether he can be a solid starting QB in the NFL.

  • USWNT 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup Preview ft. Averie Collins

    The Women’s World Cup kicks off in just a couple days in New Zealand and Australia! The US Women’s National Team (USWNT) looks to win their 5th World Cup and 3rd one in a row. Can this team win 3 world cups in a row?

    Amit is joined by Averie Collins, an NWSL Champion and former Washington Spirit player, to preview this team. Averie also played at Stanford and is a national champion. Between her Spirit and Stanford experience, she has played with over a third of this national team! Names include Trinity Rodman, Ashley Sanchez, Andi Sullivan, Aubrey Kingsbury, Kelley O’Hara, Emily Sonnett, Naomi Girma, and Alana Cook.
    The conversation begins by looking at the significant roster turnover from the last World Cup to this one. 14 players are going to the World Cup for the first time! Averie breaks down what impact that will have, as well as new young players to keep an eye out for in New Zealand and Australia for our US National Team.
    What about that one player that makes this whole thing go for our squad? Which one player makes this team go? Averie identifies her player, and then flips the script and asks Amit the same question.
    There are a number of solid teams going to this World Cup, but which one poses the biggest threat to our chance at a three peat?

    Netflix recently dropped a show called “Quarterback”, which features 3 QBs: Patrick Mahomes, Marcus Mariota and former Washington QB Kirk Cousins. We begin the episode by talking about Kirk Cousins return to Washington with his Minnesota Vikings this past NFL season and the hit he took from Daron Payne. KDot attempts to feel for Kirk Cousins, while Amit remains solid on his stance that Kirk Cousins leaving was a good thing long-term for the Washington Commanders franchise.

    The episode then shifts to higher up in the franchise, specifically at ownership level, where an ESPN article dropped on the emails that were collected from the Washington Commanders in the Beth Wilkinson investigation. A few of those emails got leaked a full year later, which would ultimately lead to the end of soon to be former owner Daniel Snyder’s reign as owner of the Commanders. KDot and Amit discuss the article, who they feel leaked the emails ultimately, and whether there is still more to come here.

    The Washington Wizards were the center of the NBA universe this week, and set the whole league on fire by first trading All-Star G Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns for G Chris Paul, G Landry Shamet, 6 second round picks and 4 first round pick swaps.  Then, they traded F/C Kristaps Porzingis to Boston, just minutes before his opt-in deadline, to the Boston Celtics in a 3-way deal involving the Memphis Grizzlies for G Tyus Jones, F Mike Muscala, F Danilo Gallinari, and the 35th overall pick in this year’s draft (which then got traded to Chicago for 2 more second rounders).  Finally, Chris Paul was flipped to Golden State for G Jordan Poole and a 2030 protected first round pick + a 2027 second round pick.  Which one saw the best return?


    The Wizards added 2 new players through the draft tonight in Bilal Coulibaly, Victor Wenbanyama’s teammate, and Tristan Vukcevic.  What do we make of them?  Are they ready to play now, or are they higher upside players?
