DISTRIKT

Building DISTRIKT at Burning Man is a lot of work and it is a year long process to raise funds and prepare for one week of shenanigans. I am always happy to help out whenever I can. The DISTRIKT BM LA Fundraiser at Union was bananas and I was happy to play an opening set in the Noise Room to warm up the long night ahead. I started slow and chill and built up the energy to allow Dance Spirit to get things going. Thanks for listening and especially thanks for supporting your DISTRIKT family.

Recorded live at New York’s House of Yes, this extended set by DISTRIKT resident DJ Paul Geddes was part of a spectacularly high energy party, Neon Nights, that continued long past it’s scheduled end time. Starting off deeper and soulful, it doesn’t take long before the DJ starts to raise the temperature of the room, and you are compelled to start moving your body to the beat. DISTRIKT was kind enough to let me open the main room of their first SF party of the season, with a nice long space to play and stretch out. Deeper house and atmospheric techno gives way to a little more purpose as the room filled up. Was really fun for me to explore this musical departure from my norm - Thanks guys!

The feeling of playing at DISTRIKT is out of this world. Grateful to have been brought back this year with so many friends & fam. My mind is always blown away by our loving & beautiful creative community. Thanks to the crew for working so hard each year to give the gift, of a one of a kind priceless experience. This years dust storm during my set was the craziest one I’ve experienced in 7 years, and while some could run from it, you all embraced it, adding mystery & mischief, to the already magical afternoon. Let’s relive that dusty crazy Tuesday together again.

Returning to Burning Man for me means returning to the DISTRIKT stage. This marks 3 years that I have been lucky enough to play at DISTRIKT. Each year has been better than the last. I kicked off the week feeling fresh with a rowdy set just before sunset for a crowd that came to rage. Mondays on the Playa beat any day in the real world. For those that were there thank you for helping create the magic that is DISTRIKT.

This was my 11th burn. I had taken a year off, so was hoping for big things. The playa didn’t disappoint. As I approached the DISTRIKT booth that afternoon, a massive dust storm was in full force. The Robot Heart bus had plugged in earlier, teaming up with the DISTRIKT Funktion-One to create an unforgettable sound. The crowd was electric like I’ve never seen. Thank you to everyone who was there to share that very special evening in epic DISTRIKT fashion. This was one for the record books. Enjoy!

In my two decades of DJing at clubs and parties around the world, there is still nothing even close to the experience of DJing at DISTRIKT. The little party that started way way back in the early 2000’s as The Deep End, has somehow turned into one of the best dance floors on Earth. Always my favorite set of the year, this closing set is a mix of some of my favorite tracks from 2017, plus, as always, some fun classics at the end. Hope it takes you back to that beautiful Saturday afternoon in the dust!
