Chances are higher that one becomes fatherless before becoming motherless. This can lead to complex outcomes that are seldom addressed. Many fatherless children (adults) silently work to overcome their circumstance. There may be many who represent fathers in our lives, from our immediate to our extended family, both maternal and paternal grandfathers, fathers-in-law, husbands, sons, and grandsons - maybe even pastors, male friends or mentees. To find out more, we surveyed some of the men in our lives and in this episode, we offer a snapshot of what some of them shared regarding their reflections about Father's Day.
Have you been struggling with switching your mindset from employee to entrepreneur? Do you struggle with getting a grip on your time? Or are you a new executive-level leader and you're wondering if you got it right? You are not alone!
Too often we forget why we set out to make a major leap from being an employee to truly being a "servant leader" All good leaders know it truly isn't about you. It's about others. Going back to your beginnings is good for seeing how you have progressed as a leader to date, and continue steps toward advancing your business plan. Today we are going to introduce you to another Sisters & Sistahs Production, Executive Coaching. In this episode we will cover the "Who, the "Why" and the Benefits of Executive Coaching. (We'll cover the "How" and the "When" in Executive Coaching - Part II, coming soon!)
Have the headlines got you quaking and quivering in your boots? What people don’t think about is that news is presented on a global, widescale perspective. It almost never has anything to do with your neighborhood. And by the way, everyday is a good day to buy real estate.
Many people feel priced out of the market, and for some that may be true. Maybe. However, if you have *decent credit and steady income, there’s probably a home for you. (*If you don’t have decent credit, let’s work on that. We can help.) From an economic perspective, particularly in most of California, if you’re paying rent, you can afford a home. Buying a home boosts your bottom line, not someone else’s. It’s time to feather your own nest!
June is National Homeownership Month. We want to help you get into a home of your own. You can do it. Don’t let fear keep you on the fence till it’s too late or too expensive. Lend us an ear. 😊
Today we’re excited to bring you an installment from our signature Trailblazer interview series, as we sit down and take a deep success dive with today’s super-stars who are doing B.I.G. (Bold, Inspiring & Gifted) Things, and changing the world we live in.
I’m pleased to introduce Sandy Rosenthal founder of the non-profit Levees.org whose focus is educating the public that the flooding of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina was due to federal engineering mistakes, not the wrath of nature.
Sandy is the author of the book, Words Whispered in Water; Why the Levees Broke in Hurricane Katrina (Mango, 2020) which is about how–against all odds–she altered the national narrative about the flooding disaster.
For those efforts, Rosenthal has been honored with numerous awards most recently including Outstanding Social Entrepreneur of the Year from Tulane University and Most Influential Woman from Mount Holyoke College. Rosenthal is an advocate for the 62% of the American population living in counties protected by levees.
Sandy’s powerful message is bringing to light a mostly unknown yet dangerous situation in many parts of our country and she’s an inspiration on how to truly mobilize citizen participation.

On this podcast we often use the term "growing and becoming". Visually, it brings to mind the image of a flower as it blossoms, the petals unfurling toward the warmth of the son. Growing and becoming is an intensely personal journey because we are all very unique individuals starting from different places, often taking different paths. But anyone who is open to personal development is engaged in growing and becoming. Picture a woman who rises to the occasion, stretching, growing mentally and emotionally as a person, a thought leader in her field, a source of inspiration to other women. Join us as we describe our personal journeys of growing and becoming, from today's perspective, even as we grow into our tomorrows.
Be inspired. We invite you to lean in for possibly the best conversation you have had all week!

Mom, Mommy, Mum, Mother, or "Moms" as my oldest son calls me. When you think of mothers you have known, where do you start? Do you start with your own mother? Do you start with your friend’s mother or the mothers of the church? Maybe it was a teacher who was also a mother. You might even have co-workers who are also mothers. Perhaps you never knew your birth mother and you grew up with an adopted mother. The list can go on and on about mothers you have known.
Episode Description: What do you think about the mothers you known or the mothers we have talked about on various podcasts but mostly with the “woman entrepreneur” handle. We have shared what women’s leadership, financial, business success journey entails and occasionally reminded you and ourselves about the necessity of self-care. Today we want to acknowledge the mothers that you are probably honoring and highlight a few of their characteristics and values that helped make us who we are today.
Enjoy a little something extra from us! (Free download): Happy Mothers Day
This week we celebrate Small Business Week. More women start businesses more than their male counterparts (and we do it better, ladies!) Whether you are leading your own company or leading a team in the traditional 9-to-5 environment, there are certain attributes that contribute greatly to your success. Having high-level executive skills can open more doors for you and help you create or expand financial opportunities.
Thankfully, the roles for women’s leadership are increasing in the workplace. This does not, however, mean that there are no challenges to be faced. Much of the recent strides toward greater representation of women in leadership have been from the DEI perspective which means progress yes, but there is still much to do. As you navigate throughout your career, learn the important skills needed to set you apart and establish your brand as a thought leader and successful businesswoman. Let’s discuss!
