Most of us have one primary source of income to pay for our daily expenses. We call this your "Bread and Butter" money because it takes care of the basics. As time goes on, we may find we're not using all our skill sets, or maybe there are shortfalls, as in more month than money. Reportedly 60% of households are just one paycheck away from being in crisis. (CNBC & Momentive Survey.) In this podcast we are going to talk about the situation so you don't become the next statistic! We are going to give you the broad strokes for making (more) money, keeping more of what you make, and increasing your cashflow!
Special Note: April 1st marks a new quarter so we are also going to check in on your progress with the Four Ps to Peak Performance - happy with your progress so far?
As always, we invite you to lean in for possibly the best conversation you have had all week. Don't forget to subscribe, and remember, sharing is caring. :)
It's just about that time of year again! We know that taxes are a necessary evil; however, my personal philosophy on paying taxes is to not pay any more than I must. Let me quote Judge Learned Hand who said: "Anyone may so arrange his affairs that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which will best pay the Treasury; there is not even a patriotic duty to increase one's taxes."
And with those words as a backdrop, the point I want to get across to you is that it's not how much you make it's how much you keep. And furthermore, it's also "how" you make your money (business vs W2 earnings) and how you spend your money. Take a cue from the 1% who typically have multiple (business) income streams and are almost without exception invested in the stock market and other asset-building ventures. More importantly they know how to use the tax code to their advantage, so today we want to talk about the 5 Rookie Tax Planning Mistakes (and if you're of a certain age, be aware of hook number 6!)

Is the Superwoman Era behind us? Do you remember the commercial jingle, "I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and make you never, ever forget you're a man"? After all these years it's still in my head, although I have no idea what the product was. But aside from its sexist overtones, I felt it spoke well to women's independence. The success journey can be a long one , and anyone who tells you otherwise is being disingenuous. And really, Divas, Diamonds, and Dollars' podcast is not talking a one-and-done type of goal; we're talking real lifestyle changes. Full disclosure: contents under pressure - success may require some heaving lifting!
When making the transition to multipreneurship you will need to be pristine with your time. You not only have to work smarter, but you also have to work harder. We invite you to lean in for possibly the best conversation you have had all week.

Women are advancing in the workplace, but women of color still lag behind. From stifled opportunities, to lack of supportive mentors, women of color often have to overcome many biases both overt and otherwise in the workplace. The gap in earnings between women and men, although smaller than it was years ago is still significant: women as a whole make 79 cents for every dollar men earn, but Black women earn only 64 cents on the dollar and for Latinas it's only 54 cents!
Listen in as we share ways to take control and break the mold: get educated on personal finance, increase your financial confidence and thrive!
You've no doubt heard "where there's a will, there's a way." I want to update a bit and suggest that "where there's a plan, there's a way." You've thought long and hard about your dreams and bold goals (refer back to our Personal and Professional episodes of the 4Ps to Peak Performance Challenge), so now the question becomes, how to bring the magic to life?
If you've been paying any kind of attention you know that people of color lag not just in income, but also net worth. Recent studies indicate that the average net worth for Black people is $24k, for Latinos it's $36k compared to $100k for White people. This begs the question why is that the case? One key reason is the lack of financial literacy and for some it could be more a case of lack of financial confidence. Stick with us and we will do our part to help you increase both! Pull up a chair as we take a deep dive into several ways you can increase your income, while at the same time learn strategies to reduce your debt. After all, it's not so much about how much you make, it's more about how much you keep.
