In today's episode I am so excited to change the conversation around food, nutrition and healthy eating when it comes to New Year’s goals. For years the diet industry has used this time of year to sell their Products, Meal Plans & quick fix Fad Diets all rooted in telling us that we are not enough the way we are. The problem is that often these restriction plans begin a cycle of eating really well while following the plan & can lead to overeating when you fall off the plan. It can cause an all or nothing mentality when it comes to eating, honestly I see it so often. It can also lead to a cycle of not listening to the wisdom of your body & glorifying restriction/starving yourself with bland food that doesn’t satisfy which can lead to more food cravings. It can also cause a lot of internal mental battles on whether you should eat the thing, or avoid it & feelings of guilt or shame if you give in.
For today’s episode I wanted to share simple ways that you can eat healthier right away without following a diet. It will help you create a healthy lifestyle that you will actually want to follow because it tastes really good and feels even better. Did I also mention you can start today?

Tip #6 - Simplify Your Meals - if you make it simple you are more inclined to stick with it.

Tip #8 - Listen to Your Body’s Cues - Begin to Practice Mindful and Intuitive Eating.
When you mindfully eat you often feel more satiated with your meal because you mind & senses have been able to realize that you are eating.
When you eat distracted or rushed and in a stressed state it affects your body's ability to digest & absorb nutrients. So take a deep breath & practice eating in this state of relaxation. We think we are what we eat, but we are what we digest & absorb & one simple way to improve that is to slow down, chill out & eat mindfully. Rest and digest is part of the parasympathetic nervous system, when you are in a state of stress your body kicks into the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) & we produce cortisol & redirect blood flow from our organs to our extremities.
These small steps can have a huge impact on your health over time. The hard part is that most people don’t notice the benefit right away so they quit, commit to yourself this year and have fun fueling your body.
