Meeting Jude IRL for the first time, we chatted briefly about her day job as a kindergarten teacher—herding kids that age is sort of like "forming a community," she said. Once we were on the mic, it was off to the races. Jude's family had a tragedy about five years ago and she talks about it openly. I feel like this session was quite a journey that Jude and I went on together, all the more extreme because we had never met. I look back at this session as sort of having a surprising but satisfying wrap-up. As an art project, she conceived and produced a live show where she invited audience volunteers to have a quickie therapy session on a couch on stage with her, making fun of the fact that she had no experience, and showing off her forged diploma.Within a year she had a regular show, Psychotherapy LIVE! and a ton of press to go with it from places like, The New York Times, Time Out New York, The Village Voice and pretty much any NYC paper with a theater section.
