    This Friday, January 17th is the official opening of Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland!     Disney announced this week that R2-D2 will be a permanent fixture rolling around Batuu at Disneyland.     For guests living in Southern California, or kids anywhere, there are some good ticket deals for 2020. Now through May 18th, Southern California residents can purchase a three day, one park per day ticket for $67 per day, or $201 per ticket. Tickets are limited to 5 per person, per day and are the same for children or adults. For families outside of Southern California, children ages 3-9 can get the same $67 per day, three day, one park per day ticket.     Tickets are still available for 80s night at Disneyland After Dark on January 29th. The party goes from 9pm to 1am, with early park access starting at 6pm. The evening includes specialty food like the Sloppy Joe Burger at Red Rose Tavern, photo opportunities with themes like “Tron,” Mousercise,” “The Little Mermaid,” and more. The Fantasyland Theatre will return to Videopolis with a VJ playing music videos from the 80s. A special fireworks show “Awesome After Dark – Fireworks to the Max” will also premiere.     The Disney Parks Blog has released the Foodie Guide to Lunar New Year 2020 at DCA.     New details have been announced for the upcoming Food and Wine Festival. The festival will take place February 28 through April 21 over in DCA. Signature events that were announced include-

    Winemaker Reception with Skywalker Vineyards at Carthay Circle Restaurant on March 20th
    Winemaker Reception with Fess Parker Winery at Carthay Circle Restaurant on March 27th
    Winemaker Reception with Silverado Vineyards at Carthay Circle Restaurant on April 10th
    Winemaker Dinner with Silver Oak | Twomey at Steakhouse 55 on March 18th
    Beverage education and tasting seminars on beer, wine and mixology at Sonoma Terrace and Golden Vine Winery (no dates listed yet)
    Something new this year is that select Downtown Disney locations will be getting in on the Food and Wine fun too.     Potter & Potter Auctions is holding an auction that will feature Disney collectibles gathered from theme parks around the world, with an emphasis on the Haunted Mansion and Adventureland items, theme park props and cast member souvenirs. There are over 750 items, including posters, costumes & uniforms, signage, original drawings, blueprints, animation art, park maps & memorabilia, and much more. The auction takes place on February 8, but prospective buyers may place online and absentee bids in advance of the sale.     The newest popcorn bucket that has “landed” at the resort is so cool! The new Millennium Falcon popcorn bucket can be filled with popcorn OR fries! To get the bucket filled with fries, guests must order it through mobile ordering at the Galactic Grill. Not only does it look cool and hold a couple of different food options, the engines also light up! The bucket is one of the largest offered to date.     In a move that should surprise nobody, there is another new churro flavor! This time it is the new Fluffernutter churro!     For those of you that like Pop Tarts, there is a new item at the Jolly Holiday Bakery on Main Street.     Starting January 17th and running through February 9th, the Lunar New Year celebration returns to Disney California Adventure. This year is a rather special one as it is the year of the mouse! Mulan’s New Years Processional returns, plenty of Disney characters will be in costume for meet and greets, a World of Color pre-show called “Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration”, and more.     Annual Passholders now have a place to call their own at Disney California Adventure. The Alfresco Tasting Terrace is now AP only and will serve 5 new signature cocktails for guests to enjoy.     Some new details have come out about the new Disney Vacation Club tower coming to the Disneyland Hotel. The original news was that an 11 story tower was coming, but the permits from the city of Anaheim show that the tower will only have 7 stories and include 393 residential units, a restaurant, lobby, sales area, and a deck area with a pool restroom building.     A new monthly collectible series is coming to the parks and ShopDisney.com. Minnie Mouse is the star of this series, titled Minnie Mouse The Main Attraction, and will feature a different attraction theme each month through 2020. For January the theme is Space Mountain – to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the attraction in Disney World. Other attractions that are going to be featured include Peter Pan, the Haunted Mansion, and the Jungle Cruise.     A set of new collectible bowls are coming to be a vessel for your favorite pineapple treat! A selection of four different tiki bowls are available to choose from.     A new drink and accompanying coaster has landed in Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for the new year. The drink was supposed to be a limited time offering for New Years, but has remained available. The coaster features Maz (from The Force Awakens), and the Arubesh translation of the drink’s name.     Last week, we discussed Baby Yoda merchandise finally making it to the resort. This week, another, more interesting variation of this fan favorite has appeared at the resort. “The Bounty” is a new alcoholic drink available at Trader Sam’s over at the Disneyland Hotel. The drink features a green-colored drink with two edible cherry “eyes” on a skewer, two lime wedges for “ears,” and a little napkin tie at the bottom to represent Baby Yoda’s outfit.     Clarabelle’s over in Disney California Adventure is now offering a selection of hard floats.     At long last Asian Street Eats has opened in Downtown Disney. The new eatery will feature Asian dishes that can be customized to suit your tastes.     The menu for Asian Street Eats looks delicious! Mixed bowls, scallion pancake wraps, and pot stickers are all available.     The Disney Parks Blog announced something that should come as no surprise to anyone – the Summer 2020 opening date of Avengers Campus. When the area was announced, there was no firm date, just sometime in 2020, but it was widely speculated to be in the Summer. This post from Disney confirms that.     With Disneyland getting Rise of the Resistance after Hollywood Studios out in Florida, Disneyland will get the benefit of the kinks being worked out when it opened out in Florida. The current information from Disney is once inside the park, guests will have to get a boarding group through the Disneyland app. Notifications will be sent as soon as their boarding group is called.     Cast Member previews for Rise of the Resistance will be starting on January 8th, just a few days before the public opening on January 17th.     With the release of Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, Star Tours has added some new locations from the 9th installment of the saga.     Getting to and from Disneyland from either LAX or John Wayne airports is going to get a little more complicated in 2020. Couch USA, who operated the Disneyland Express will be shutting down this service on January 7th.     A new Disneyland Parks tumbler has arrived at the Starbucks locations at Disneyland. This variation is different from the previous models as it features both parks and not just Disneyland or California Adventure.     It hasn’t been long since we got the last new color at the resort – Belle of the Ball Bronze. The newest color – Redd, with two “d’s” reminiscent of Redd from Pirates of the Caribbean, is so popular that it is nearly sold out at the resort.     As if there weren’t enough attraction closures already fro 2020, there are currently no operating hours for King Arthur’s Carousel starting on January 21st.     The new parade coming to Disneyland has at least partially arrived at the resort, and with an official opening date! Guests will experience this new parade starting on February 28, 2020. As we reported when the parade was announced at D23, this new offering will include characters from Coco, Moana, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Cinderella, Princess & The Frog, Sword in the Stone, Pinocchio, and more. – https://www.micechat.com/245500-disneyland-update-holiday-bomb-hits-gazing-into-2020/

    Progress on the Avengers Campus is coming along nicely. Scaffolding is starting to come down around the front of the Spider-Man attraction, while there is still quite a bit left to do on the building that will house the phase two e-ticket attraction that will be topped with a Quinn Jet.     With Carthay Circle closing for refurbishment next month, Disney has added a new WOC dining package location. Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian will offer lunch and dinner options with prices ranging from $50 for adults and $25 for children.     A new souvenir cup is available in New Orleans Square. The Mint Julep Cup is a different take on the usual sippers found around the resort.     Some good news and bad news coming from the resort about the Haunted Mansion in early 2020. First, the good news: Haunted Mansion Holiday has been extended until January 21st, 2020 while its a small world undergoes its transformation back to the non-holiday overlay. Now, the bad news: The Haunted Mansion will be down for months after the holiday version closes for a lengthy refurbishment.     This weekend, the Candlelight Processional will come to Main Street for the 61st year. On Saturday, December 7th and Sunday, December 8th, two performances per evening will take place. The estimated times for the ceremony are 5:20pm and 7:35pm.     Once again in 2020 Disneyland will host some Disneyland After Dark after hours events. This time, there are four themed nights. 80’s night at Dinseyland will be on January 29th, Sweethearts night at Disneyland will be on February 12th and 13th, Pixar night will be at California Adventure on March 5th, and finally Villains Night will also be at DCA on April 30th. Tickets are $109 per person, per event. All nights except Pixar night will run 9pm-1am with early entry starting at 6pm.     In January, a new dining experience is coming to Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel. The Winemaker Dinner Series will offer a multi-course meal and wine pairings from different vineyards. The first of the expereinces features a five-course meal including Lobster & Beetroot Salad, Aged Eye of Ribeye with Bone Marrow Whipped Potato, and Crispy Kurobuta Porchetta.     If you were able to join us on our live streams this weekend, this won’t be news to you, but Disney released artwork for the redesigned Tomorrowland entrance that is coming to the land in 2020. The planter areas that are currently grass will be replaced with some colorful flowers and given some height.     At long last, a show has returned to the Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland. The Dueling Pianos show, titled “The Showdown at the Golden Horseshoe,” premiered this week. The show combines musical theater, improv and storytelling along with music in classical, ragtime and country & western styles.     Downtown Disney is sporting some brightly lit decorations for the holidays this year. The new decor includes more than 200 UV glow trees, lit up in shades of blue, green, yellow, orange, and pink. The trees range in size from as little as 4 feet, up to an impressive 15 feet. The trees have no decorations on them, but are accompanied by 70 glow rings that hang from the large trees in Downtown Disney.     More Disney Vacation Club rooms will be coming to Disneyland, this time in a new tower at the Disneyland Hotel. The Orange County Register reports that Disney has filed permits with the city of Anaheim to build the 12 story, 350 room addition. The new rooms aren’t scheduled to be available until 2022.     After long last, most of the entrance to Tomorrowland is free and clear of the “french fry” rocks that were installed with the last refurbishment to the land, back in 1998. The crowd flow is greatly improved when the park is busier, such as around the parade and fireworks.     It is possible that by the time you listen to this that both sides of the Matterhorn might be open!     Next Year, after 24 years of operation, the Indiana Jones Adventure will go down for it’s first major refurbishment.     News:

    On Sunday night, a guest on Tarzan’s Treehouse broke a board on the suspension bridge section of the attraction. No guests were harmed in the incident, but the attraction is closed until further notice. Reports online state that the attraction was intended to always have a cast member posted at the bridge for guest safety, but that had been cut a few years ago.     It is that time of year again when the candy makers at Disneyland have announced the dates when you can pick up a handmade candy cane! Each batch is 40 to 45 candy canes and there are three batches produced on the days they are scheduled. The two locations are the Candy Palace in Disneyland, and Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure. It is recommended to arrive to the resort 30-45 minutes prior to opening to get a wristband that is good for one candy cane. Only one wristband is given to each guest, up to 40 per batch. You can return anytime between the batch time that you are given and 4pm. If you do not pick up your candy cane by 4pm, it will be sold to another guest. Items include a number of Churros, cotton candy, peppermint caramel corn, and loads of other sweet and savory creations.     For it’s 23rd season, it’s a small world holiday is getting some new upgrades.     In a surprising bit of news, Disney has filed for a building permit to refurbish Snow White’s Scary Adventures in Fantasyland. The permit lists $445,000 in changes to the attraction that would include removing and replacing show sets, installing new structural beams, refurbish rock work and upgrade some electrical.     Attendance at the Disneyland Resort is down, but revenue is up, according to the fourth quarter earnings report last week. Revenue from Disney’s Parks, Experiences, and Products increased 8 percent in the quarter to $6.7 billion dollars. Spending at the resort was higher due to increased ticket cost, food and merchandise. Bob Iger admitted that guests were holding off visiting the parks until the entirety of Galaxy’s Edge would be open.     Some special guests were on hand to kick off the holidays at the Disneyland Resort on Friday. The cast of Frozen 2, including Idina Menzel who plays Queen Elsa, Kristen Bell who plays Anna, Jonathan Groff, the voice of Kristoff, and everyone’s favorite summer loving snowman Olaf, voiced by Josh Gad came out in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle to start the fireworks.     As is becoming the tradition for this time of year, Disney is filling the airwaves with a ton of holiday specials. On Thursday, November 28th, “The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration” from 8-10pm on ABC and the app. This special will provide a behind the scenes look at the Rise of the Resistance attraction, and have a number of musical performances.     Disney is offering Cast Members throughout the company the option to choose the traditional Main Entrance Pass that allows the cast member to take family and friends into the parks for free, with limited blackouts and restrictions, or a full Disney+ bundle package that includes Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu.     After all of the outrage online about the $3 swap fee coming to the Fuel Rods at Disneyland, the company and Disney have announced that there will not be a fee to swap the chargers for a fresh one.     Star Wars fans of the prequels might recognize a star that visited Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge this past week. Hayden Christensen, better know by Star Wars fans as Anakin Skywalker, stopped into the new land with his daughter to experience Smuggler’s Run and to build a lightsaber in Savi’s Workshop. It was his daughters 5th birthday.     It is no surprise that with the holidays starting this week that the park has debuted some new merchandise. Included this year are some new spirit jerseys, toys, sippers, bags, ears, and more.     A new sipper is coming to the resort this holiday season. The new offering looks like a giant Mickey shaped Christmas ornament. It is decorated with Mickey shaped cutouts and is covered in a shiny red coating.     Sleeping Beauty Castle’s transformation into the winter castle has been completed. The castle is now adorned with it’s snow covered turrets, garland, and icicles.     To help deck the halls at Disneyland, two VIPs installed the tree topper on the Disneyland tree in Town Square.     Along with all of the decorations, nighttime entertainment will also be available. World of Color – Season of Light will return since it was absent from the offerings last year due to damage with the jets.     A new season brings some new food options! The first new churro is a peppermint chocolate churro. This one is drizzled in chocolate and peppermint, and is covered in peppermint pieces. The holiday sprinkles churro is exactly what it sounds like, a churro covered in colorful sugar sprinkles.     Don’t worry if you think you have missed out on the holiday offerings if you can’t make it to the parks before the end of the year. From January 17th through February 9th, the Lunar New Year celebration will return at Disney California Adventure. This year it is celebrating the Year of the Mouse. A couple weeks later, from February 28th through April 21st, the DCA Food and Wine Festival will take place.     The Festival of the Holidays is also returning this year from November 8th through January 6th. There are 12 booths this year including “Brews and Bites” which will offer local, seasonal, and international brews. “Favorite Things” included holiday ham shanks, an eggnog cocktail, and cranberry sangria last year. Grandma’s Recipes served candied yams, beef pot roast, and tart and fruity flight last year, new this year is a shepherds pie served with a Mickey shaped topping.     A new line of retro merchandise has hit the shelves around the resort. Anyone who remembers the old VHS Disney animated classics will love the new journals that are about as thick as the old VHS cases and have that great look. A lot of merchandise with the shows and characters from 80’s shows like Duck Tales and Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers.
