  • #131 WE RUN THIS STATE / Joe Kern
Thank you for joining us for another episode of the DO BIG THINGS podcast!  Joe Kern is an Indiana native who once relied on the Hancock County Food Pantry to feed his young kids.  Fast forward through Life a bit and he ended up running across the state of Indiana in 2021 to raise awareness for the nonprofit that was there in his time of need.  How cool is that?  I love this story and I think you are going to enjoy it as well!

"Why fit in when you were born to stand out?" Dr. Seuss
My guest on this weeks episode may have autism but that didn't stop him from jumping into the world of ultramarathons.  He recently ran the Coldwater Rumble 100 and Canyons 100k.  He has inspired many, many people through features on CNN and Good Morning America and more.  When I asked him why he runs, he put it quite simply.  "Running makes me feel good."  DO BIG THINGS Zach!

  • #123 WORLD'S LARGEST TRIATHLON with Justin True

My man, Justin True, has become the hero of his own story, in a very real way. After a traumatic and sometimes violent childhood, including a suicide attempt, he carved himself into a successful MMA fighter turned hybrid endurance athlete. He raises money for different charities and organizations by doing world record type events, including pulling a truck for a 26.2 mile marathon! He is currently training for the world’s largest triathlon where he’s going to swim 60 miles, bike 3,000 miles and then top it off with an easy 600 mile run! He’s hoping to complete it inside of a month.  What a slacker :) You’re going to want to hear this one. DO BIG THINGS Justin! • #122 That Which Does Not Kill Me with Marc Jacksina
Marc Jacksina and I had some good laughs at our own expenses throughout this conversation. We’re both aging white men with faded tattoos that somehow managed to find sobriety and peace around the same time we found trail running and ultramarathons. It seems to be a common theme. However, Marc wears it well! With roots in the punk and hardcore music scene, we talk about the early influences that led us to where we are today. Marc has been a featured chef and appeared on Bravo TV documentaries for his culinary baddassery. Dig in!
