Notes:
When I think of inclusion, I have many scenarios that come to mind. But two are of my oldest son when he was in elementary school. On the first day of kindergarten, he was cautious but ready to go. He knew kindergarten was a big deal and he was ready for it.
The following year during a parent teach conference, the teacher warned me that my son had friendships with two different children who did not get along with one another and my son was spending time trying to help them get
It’s easy to include people that look and think like us. It’s easy to dismiss those who don’t seem to be able to get on board. However, being inclusive demands a bit more effort. Being inclusive means we make the effort to invite and be welcoming. Being inclusive means we get to know others and allow them to get to know us. Bring inclusive doesn’t require we agree on everything, but it does require we demonstrate respect. Inclusion is not

Episode 546: The Challenge of Plan B
Let’s talk about the challenge of being prepared for Plan B.
Things don’t always go as planned. This is something we can count on. The challenge when things don’t go as hoped or planned, is how we will move forward.
So, the Challenge is in having a Plan B. Some people may encourage you not to have a Plan B, saying that it deters your commitment to Plan A. I think Plan B speaks to the reality of humanity and actually aids us in moving forward, helping us to avoid confusion and chaos as much as possible.
Consider you are planning to take a plane trip and the plane is delayed, which is out of your control. Plan B might be to wait out the delay, take in another activity, or find another airline carrier or transportation to your destination. I recall once getting stuck for the weekend in an unfamiliar town due to major flight delays. I was already of the Plan B mindset, that when circumstances change, look for the opportunity in the new circumstances and try to get to your destination as soon as reasonably possible. A lot of people in the situation did not have a Plan B and found themselves expressing upset and anger that was not positively impacting the situation. By resorting to my Plan B, I was able to develop and deepen a relationship and I got to experience new surroundings. It was an amazing weekend!
Certainly, we have likely all had work or personal situation not proceed as planned. However, when we are prepared to pivot or make a change, we can make the most of a situation.
So, take some time to think about how you might respond when circumstances change. And accept the challenge of developing a Plan B.
Let’s talk about the challenge of being prepared for Plan B.

Sometimes we tend to look at taking risks as win-lose situations,
When we take on a risk, we proceed down a path knowing that there is a desired outcome and a chance that where we might find ourselves is not what we imagined to be the ideal. In some
But in all cases, taking a risk means there is some change. A change in our circumstances and/or a change in our experience that is part of what uniquely propels us into our future. Being “risk averse” can sometimes serve us well, if it means we are gathering information on which to take action, but we mustn’t be so averse to change that we fail to grow, cease to add positive
