    Episode 6–471: What’s Your Plan?

Let’s talk about Working Your Plan

In leadership, and in life in general, planning is important.

When we plan we are better able to communicate a consistent message and a consistent vision.

When we plan it gives us time to get our resources in order. When we plan, we can fit more things in.

If you have a lot of things to do and you don’t want to forget them – Make a list for easy reference and to keep you moving toward accomplishing your goal.

When accomplishing a task, figure out what elements of the task are best to be grouped together.

Work the plan and within the plan leave room for other possibilities and opportunities that might work with the plan or make the plan better.

When we plan, we can efficiently use our time to get more things done.

Even the tasks that seem boring and monotonous can benefit from planning.

So, let me encourage to figure out you plan of action and

    work your plan!

Episode 6–470: Ask For And Accept Help

Let’s talk about Relieving Self-Imposed Burdens.

A well lived life includes other people, people that we can depend upon for support and people who we support. In relationship we bring our best selves, sometimes our best self in a moment needs support and other times our best selves are full of confidence and experience that others can lean on for support.

Asking for help when needed is a sign of intelligence. When we ask for and receive help, it allows us to focus our energies and to get more return on our investment of those energies and efforts.  When we take the time to integrate help that is offered to us with appropriate direction on how how the help can be put into action, it can help us all to move forward.

Helping can create a sense of engagement .

When we fail to accept help or ask for help, we create an unnecessary burden on ourselves that has the potential to negatively impact others.

It’s ok to learn through doing and it’s ok to learn while receiving help. So, be sure to ask for the specific help you need.

Let’s talk about Relieving Self-Imposed Burdens.

Episode 6–469: Liberate, Illuminate, Inspire, Amplify!

    Let’s talk about breakthrough.

My 4 words centered around breakthrough: Liberate, Illuminate, Inspire, and Amplify.

Helping people realize they are free to make their own

choices (Liberate), helping others to see truth and possibilities (Illuminate), inspiring others to
live with greater confidence (Inspiration),  and being
supportive of continual personal and professional growth (Amplify) helps to give others the courage to identify who they are and how they can realize the best version of themselves and help others to do the same.

When we are in a position to experience breakthrough, we can realize the best version of ourselves and a fulfilling life.

What are the gifts you have to share with others? Jot them

down, use them as a benchmark for taking action and for measuring your progress.

    Let’s talk about breakthrough.

    Episode 6–468: Just Be Nice!

Let’s talk about being nice, respectful, and building others up.
Everyday we have the opportunity to be nice to others.  We have the option to be respectful and the option to interact in a way that feeds the confidence of others. Be confident enough to be nice and respectful, which can have a positive ripple effect.

Being rude or disrespectful does not benefit the situation. No matter what, people deserve respectful interaction.

When we are nice, people can see us as reasonable and approachable.

When we are nice, we extend respect and help people to feel worthy of respect.
When we are nice we set an example for others to follow.

So let’s focus on Building others up, Being Respectful of

    others, and just BEING NICE.

  • Episode 6–467: Just Say Thank You

Episode 6–467: Just Say Thank You

Let’s talk about gratitude and courtesy

Sometimes the best thing to say is “Thank You.” It’s something

we can all do that only costs us our presence and attention.

When we say thank you we make an acknowledgement – that we

see someone, that we aware of something they have done, and that we have gratitude and appreciation for that person and/or something they have shared.

When we deflect compliments and comments, we likely are unintentionally devaluing the compliment or comment that someone is taking the time to share with us. Instead of devaluing or diminishing the acknowledgements, “Just say Thank You.”

When someone expresses appreciation they acknowledge that they are a recipient or benefactor of action you have taken, and so the appropriate response to value that compliment or gift of

gratitude is to acknowledge what has been shared by saying “Thank you.”

When we accept gratitude it allows us to understand our ability to positively influence others and to be able to help support

positive change. Being intentional about seeing how others contribute, can help us to see how we are all a part of various communities and it allows us to realize just how much we have to
    be thankful for.

In this season of Thanksgiving, and always, remember to give

the gift of thanks to those around us, for their contributions and presence in our lives.  Be intentionally observant and look for opportunities to ‘Just say Thank You.’

  • Episode 6–466: Saying "No" Isn't Naughty

Episode 6–466: Saying No Isn't Naughty - No is not a bad thing

Let’s talk about setting boundaries and sharing expertise

Sometimes the word “no” gets a bad rap. But saying “no” is

    sometime necessary.

When we say “no” we set boundaries for ourselves and for

    others.

Sometimes we need to say “no” to bring a bit of critical

thought to a conversation. Done respectfully, this may lead to
greater influence and respect, which is contrary to what some may think.

Saying “no” can open doors to new opportunities.  Consider a person that wants to achieve better health.  They may say no to many things that might delay their health journey, like sweets, or late nights. The health they receive is a payoff for saying "no" to some things.

Saying “no” can also create physical and emotional

    protection.

Instead of not saying no out of Fear, think of saying no out of confidence and belief in protecting your best future.

So remember, sometimes saying “no” is just what you need to

    move forward.

  • Episode 6–465: Team and Goal

    Episode 6–465: Team and Goal

Let’s talk about coming together for the team and goal.

Knowing who we are as individuals helps us give the best we have to give for the group goal. When we understand our areas of strength and weakness, and when we understand the things we like and how we prefer to interact with others, can help us to be better team members.

The focus on individual growth has led to us sometimes asking what a group or organization can do for us, rather than asking what we have to uniquely offer to support or help propel the team forward.

As we continue to develop ourselves and mentor others, let’s

try to understand what we have to offer and help others do the same.  Let’s remember when we come together we should
compliment the team. So finding the right place or places to share our individual skills is a key to contributing to team goals.

  • 6–464: Teamwork

    Episode 6–464: Teamwork

Let’s talk about accomplishing more together.

Some people love being part of a team, while others might prefer

to work more independently. Being part of a great team requires engagement, it requires that everyone participate and be aware of what is happening.  Team members on great teams are responsible to one another and committed to accomplishing the purpose  or tasks of the group.

When teams or groups come together with a purpose of working

effectively together, they typically go through a process known as forming, storming, norming, and performing.  When everyone understands how each person can contribute and what each person will be responsible for, individuals can work
together effectively to accomplish more than they could have individually.

Great teams support one another and help one another to grow in their capabilities.

Great teams understand that team members can contribute in different ways to support the effectiveness of the team.

Great teams have good communication with one another and focus on engaging effectively to move things forward instead of dwelling on past mistakes or failures.

Great teams take motivation from both failures and successes.

Always begin with yourself, and lead by example as a way to be an encouragement to others to bring their best to the team and

to work in a way that is complimentary to the group and the goals to be accomplished.

Teamwork is the dreamwork, when we accomplish more together.

  • Episode 6-462: Delivering Tough News

    Episode 6 – 462: Delivering Tough News

    Let’s talk about delivery style!

Delivering difficult news usually isn’t fun or easy, but it

    is necessary.

When we must deliver difficult news or information, it’s important to understand the context of the message, the audience for the message, and the expected short and long term outcomes of the message.

When we focus on why we are delivering the message, who the

audience is, and what we expect both short- term and long-term, it will help us to better frame even our toughest messages.
This process also requires us to anticipate how the message might be received so that we can be more effective with our delivery style and word choices. We will be able to deliver our messages with the future in mind.

So the next time you have to deliver some tough news, focus

on the why, who, and the desired outcome. Trust that you are helping to make positive progress with your message.
