No, you don't have to wait until you lose the weight before you look good in your clothes!
How would you describe your style? When you go clothes shopping, do you find it a chore? Or is it something that you love?
For many of us, the clothes that we choose have a very personal meaning - even if it's the pajamas that you throw on at the end of the night. We want them to feel soft against our skin, not dig in or ride up - and just FIT!
So, when we're uncomfortable in our clothes, or don't feel like our clothes truly reflect who we are inside, we can spend a lot of unnecessary spin cycles in our brain focusing on things that are unhelpful, and not useful, and not spending time on the things that we want to be thinking about.
That's why my guest on episode 87 of the Done with Dieting Podcast is so amazing. She will help you to become more of who you really are.

The formula on how to get the results you want
You know that what we do - the actions that we take - will create your results. And right now, with the end of summer, it's easy to start thinking about becoming healthier, and getting some structure back into your schedule after a summer when we generally like to have less scheduled time.
And of course, when we do that, we need to do some planning. However, moving from planning into the action phase can sometimes really feel like a struggle.
On episode 86 of the podcast, I'm giving you my best tips and strategies around how to move into action so that you can be successful in developing whatever behaviors you desire - so that you can then accomplish the goals that you desire too.

Design a capsule wardrobe for your meals
Have you ever had someone create a meal plan for you, but it didn't work out really well? Or, maybe there was a time when it did, but then years later when you pulled it out of the cabinet & dusted it off, you couldn't get back on track.
In this episode of the Done with Dieting Podcast, I'm going to teach you the exact steps I use with my clients in helping them to create their own meal plans, or what I call food uniforms.
What I love about this approach is that it:
Get a pen and paper because You're going to want to take notes.

Is it rest? Or laziness?
How do you think about rest? Is it something that you think that you have to earn? Do you feel guilty if you're sitting and other people are doing? Do you believe that rest is just laziness in disguise?
So many women are socialized to believe that we have to constantly produce results or we don't feel like we're "earning our keep" - that we always have to be doing for others in order to feel good about ourselves.
My guest on this episode works with folks who work in public health to help them recover from burn out, and understand how rest is important.
We also take a deep dive into the complex topic of how we vote, and our elected lawmakers directly impact our health, wellness, and weight.
About Marissa McKool
Marissa McKool, MPH is a former public health leader turned career and life coach who helps public health professionals eliminate their burnout without quitting their job. Marissa received her MPH from Emory University and held several leadership roles in government and academia working on sexual violence prevention and reproductive health, before finding herself burning out. Through coaching, she was able to eliminate her stress without anything outside of her changing and now helps others do the same. She is also the host of the Redefining Rest Podcast, where she helps listeners reduce their workload, create more time, get more rest, and feel better.

Hint: it's not because you're lazy or don't have willpower.
When you purchase a product or service that does not work or even causes harm, you might blame the company, demand a refund, leave a bad review, and skip out on it next time.
When that product or service is a part of the diet industry, you may blame yourself and return time and again to spend even more money on these services.
Why is that?
Well, unlike most other factors in our life, we consider our body's weight and appearance to be solely a personal responsibility and, for some, a personal failure.
Women are continually socialized to think that WE'RE the ones who are wrong. That there's something wrong with us - our bodies are 'mysterious' or weird.
Women are not little men & so our bodies respond to food and exercise very differently than men. So we need a unique approach that's specialized to address our hormonal profile in midlife.
Tune in to learn how women have been set up to fail since childhood

Healing After Abortion
Ever since the leaked Supreme Court Ruling overturning the 50 year right for women in the US to have access to safe abortion services, women's health and women's rights have been the topic of conversation.
One side claiming to be the voice of the fetus, and the other side speaking out for themselves - the women who are then forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term.
In this powerful episode, Amanda Kingsley joins me for a complex and highly nuanced discussion about women's rights, empowerment, and what this ruling means for women in how we identify ourselves, and what it means for us to have authority over our life and agency over our bodies.
About Amanda Kingsley:
Amanda Kingsley is a Certified Feminist Life Coach and Doula. She is the host of the Speaking Light Into Abortion podcast. And the Author of 'What I Wish: 100 love notes to help you survive, come alive, and thrive after abortion.' After her own unanticipated abortion as a mother of three, she recognized the need for a wider conversation around the complex emotional landscape of life after abortion. She reminds her audience that it's okay to feel all the feelings after abortion, and that we can honor our decisions by living the life we made our choice for. Why we overeat junk food & how to stop.
If you've ever been munching a bag of chips along with your favorite television show, and then suddenly realized that there were no more chips, and now you don't feel so great, know that you're not alone.
We've ALL done it.
Many of us blame ourselves for doing it.
What you don't realize is that food manufacturers have designed everything from the packaging, to the marketing to how the food tastes and breaks down in our body so that we will eat more.
And with that knowledge, there are things that you can do to limit it & eventually stop all together.

How to get better at not giving up when things get hard.
We think that weight loss and creating better habits is all about eat this, not that; move more, get enough sleep, and manage our stress.
And yes, that's it on a very basic level, but what happens when we "can't" eat this, have to eat that, can't move like we intended, don't get enough sleep, or manage our stress? What happens then?
For many of us, we give up. There are too many barriers - too many obstacles to overcome.
On this podcast, I'm sharing a simple framework - a series of questions that you can ask yourself that will allow you to start the process of being able to problem solve the solution instead of just throwing up your hands and giving up.
Problem Solving is a skill that you can learn, and one that will help you to remain successful long after you've made it to your goal.

What does it mean to have your own back?
What does it mean to have your own back? To be your own best friend?
When it comes to self-trust, so many of us don't trust ourselves. And when it comes to lasting weight loss, self-trust is a skill that we have to develop if we never want to go on another diet ever again.
In this episode, I'm talking about the sneaky ways our inner critic erodes self-trust, and how we can build it up so that we no longer have to have accountability buddies, and we can make commitments to ourselves and follow through.
