Charlie Brennan debates with Wendy Wiese, Bill McClellan, Alvin Reid and Ray Hartmann topics that are important and relevant to the St. Louis region. This week, the Donnybrookers tackle:
-Better Together
-Steve Stenger rebuked by his own party
-Amtrak
-Board of Alderman President election results
-Title IX and David Steward
-Hollywood Tax Credits
-Donnybash!
All 5 regular Donnybrookers are in this week. The most heated topic this week? (other than Better Together?) A study done around Metrolink, which prompted Ray Hartmann to claim that "St. Louis is a giant library of unused studies". Hear that debate, and more, on this week's podcast audio of Donnybrook.
This week on Donnybrook, Better Together leads off the show for what....the 5th week in a row? Get used to it, this is the debate that is probably going to define the region through the next election cycle.
But, we get through that topic fairly quickly and move on to:
-Bible study in public schools
-A communist running as a Democrat in St. Louis
-Lewis Reed and Jamilah Nasheed
Along with some really strong calls this week on Your Turn!
Wendy returns this week, so the regular 5 are back at the table. Alvin offers up candy and flowers on Valentine's day to Amazon's Jeff Bezos. Former Police Chief Tim Fitch weighs in on Better Together, and Bob Costas is in the news. This, and more, on this week's Donnybrook.
Amy Marxkors of KMOX joins the table for the first time in Wendy's chair, as the table debates Red Flag laws, dual parental notification of under 18 abortions, Rams losing the Super Bowl, MLS in St. Louis needing more corporate support, and further aspects of the Better Together proposal.
Joe Holleman from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch joins the Donnybrook roundtable this week in place of Bill, and shares some very measured comments on the Better Together plan for St. Louis. Alvin proposes his own county within St. Louis County, and the lots of callers during Your Turn weigh in on if the St. Louis Metro Police Department is in crisis at the moment.
Marc Cox from FM NewsTalk 97.1 is making his first appearance ever at the Donnybrook table, as Donnybrookers discuss the latest things in the local news, and probably disagree on a few topics. That is what a Donnybrook is after all, "a scene of uproar and disorder".
Four day school weeks, pets in the workplace, and a host of other local/& regional issues are discussed around the table this week. Charlie and Wendy take calls and tweets during Your Turn.
In this week's episode, Wendy Wiese is back, so the regular hosts are together for the first time in 2019 to cover a range of topics.
-Continued discussion of the "Better Together" proposals, including various city leaders weighing in.
-Can St. Louis support an NBA franchise?
-Should the Michael Brown case be reopened?
-Local pastor sues city....for handing out food

One topic really dominated the conversation around the table this week....the leaked "Better Together" Plan for merging St. Louis City and County.
Other topics include Wesley Bell, and the McCaskill/Ocasio-Cortez spat; while Brenda Talent from the Show-Me Institute joins the table again this week in place of Wendy Wiese.
