January 15, 1947 – The day began as any other day, beautiful weather with people out on their morning walks. However, for a woman named Betty Bersinger, this turned from an ordinary morning walk into a horrendous nightmare. As Betty Bersinger walked along Leimert Park, she noticed what at first seemed like a mannequin. She got closer and saw one of the most horrific and notorious murders the United States has ever seen. Staring back at her was not a mannequin, but rather the lifeless body of Elizabeth Short, also known as The Black Dahlia
The Black Dahlia Murder remains as one of the greatest unsolved crimes today. Many people believe George Hodel to be the killer for many reasons. In fact, if you google “who murdered the black dahlia”, his name instantly appears. We at DFTR Podcast do not believe this to be the case.
