We made it to Legacies! And yeah, this is not a serious show. We meet quite the cast of characters at the Salvatore School, including our dear Saltzman twins, a dweeb, and a new student who is hand in hand with a familiar face. We get some really insight into Hope and how this school succeeds, and doesn’t, in making these kids well-adjusted. With plenty of fun moments, new ships, and a new mystical knife, boy are we ready for our second spinoff!

Hope’s first transition is upon us, and also, possibly her death. So what are the Mikaelsons to do? What they do best: bother the citizens of Mystic Falls and spin off! We visit the Salvatore School and meet other potential Legacies characters, while we check in with Alaric and Caroline. We seem to inch toward Klaroline endgame, but Klaus’s impending possible death looms. We take a quick trip to peace via Hope and see a couple familiar faces. Finally, Stephanie makes series finale predictions.

We made it to a Freelin wedding baby!! Unfortunately given how weddings tend to end on this show we are a bit scared but let’s practice gratitude! We spend plenty of time with another ship meal so good we be forgetting what tf died. Meanwhile, turns out the scary gray veins and bad vibes in Hope may actually have a lasting effect. Finally, Josh (who in our minds remains alive no matter what the show says) may not have died in vain…

Daniel Gillies directs this jam-packed episode, and the end is feeling nearer. Queenicide takes two victims, including a character that felt so safe from death that Grace literally forgot it happened. We start to explore the afterlife more than ever before, with Vincent messing with the Ancestral Plane and a sighting of an old friend at peace. Hope captures and tortures Roman to satiate The Hollow (and her anger), but she ends up finding a larger, much more deserving target - unfortunately, a random human is caught in the crossfire, which means Hope’s werewolf curse is suddenly a major concern.

The vampire nazis are at it again, and this time trying to hide behind Marcel logic, making Marcel face some of his less kind moments. Elijah goes to bother Declan at Rousseau’s, giving Declan one of his worst, most confusing days ever. Hope faces the consequences of the Hollow, but at least she gets to take out some anger on Elijah and gives a chance for Klaus to kind of kill it in fatherhood. And unfortunately it looks the queenicide epidemic continues in New Orleans…

Well well well, if it isn’t another chambre de chasse… The Mikaelons are no strangers to a classic chambre de chasse, but this one is particularly tricky, because a) Elijah’s memories are still gone, and b) it was designed by a couple familiar masterminds. Luckliy, they are assisted by the brain power of Marcel and, shockingly enough, Kol! The Hollow’s power is released from the Mikaelsons, and Elijah finally gets through that damn red door. We are also treated to some flashbacks of our dear Hayley (no matter how revisionist they may be).

Well last week sucked. And to make it worse, the funeral has all manner of trouble ranging from forgetting to invite people to basically a terrorist attack. Klaus gets bit of revenge on Antionette, making Elijah finally ready to fix his memory mistake. But not everyone is ready for that red door to open. And Vincent and Marcel are, of course, just excited to make Elijah suffer. Ivy discovers another prophecy that does not bode well for the Mikaelsons, and we may be closer to the end than we realized. Finally, someone traps Klaus and Elijah somewhere, but who, where, and why?
