More about Darcy:

The Doula Darcy is a postpartum doula and lactation counselor who has helped hundreds of new moms navigate the first twelve weeks at home with a baby since 2010.

Before that, she spent 10 years working in advertising agencies and marketing companies learning everything there is to know about marketing and promoting a business.

After having 3 babies in 4 years, she took her doula training and was able to replace her corporate income quicker than most new doulas do because of that previous career in marketing & advertising.

As a Doula Business Coach, Darcy loves sharing her expertise and experience with other doulas.

Gina Mundy is an attorney specializing in childbirth cases. For over 20 years, her focus has been investigating and analyzing mistakes that arise during labor and delivery. She has spent countless hours meticulously scrutinizing childbirth cases, conducting interviews with delivery teams, and thoroughly examining medical records to gain an in-depth understanding of every decision made during labor and delivery. Throughout her career Gina has traveled nationwide, engaging with healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, and midwives to explore all aspects of labor and delivery. These interactions have provided her with invaluable insights, enabling her to appreciate the diverse perspectives prevalent in different regions of the country. 

In June 2023, Gina's book "A Parent's Guide to a Safer Childbirth" was published. The book helps parents to avoid the mistakes during childbirth and have a healthy baby. Instead of getting involved after a mistake was made, Gina is getting involved before childbirth to help prevent the mistakes.

This is our last episode in Doula Rants. We are talking about making sure you have a contract! It seems like a duh thing but it’s also making sure you know everything in your contract and giving the basics of how you function to your customers. Contracts can be tricky but you need to have them!

“However, I also will say that if there are things that will make or break your clients' experience, they need to know that those are in your contract. And going back to like, don't be an asshole. Because I feel like that's just a basic thing that doulas should adopt. Just don't do that. I think that we need to make sure our clients know how we function. Now one of the things that I think is important about this is recognizing that we function differently. Like all of us doulas are not the same, right? That's important to know and that's important to validate and recognize and I make sure to say that to clients when I'm talking to them in their consultation. ”
