Down To Watch

Time for another throwback Down to watch, and this time we're talking bout freeeeeedom! Specifically the 90s epic Braveheart, not the terrible Paul Mccartney pro USA jam. Dan, Raul and Mike run down what this movie meant historically and artistically... and disagree! What!?

This month on DTW-TV, we watched the latest offering from the Marvel/Netflix machine, Luke Cage! Do bulletproof skin and blaxploitation sensibilities add up to small screen success? Raul and Dan (and Mike a little) might have some thoughts about it that you can listen to if you download and then listen to this episode! Go find out!

The guys go way back this week, all the way to 1951 for John Huston's classic, The African Queen! This one sits at #65 on AFI's Greatest Movies of All Time list, so lets hear what the Down To Watch crew thinks of Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn making cinema history. They might even stay on topic...

This week's throwback movie asks the timeless question, "Are you cool?" Jonnie, Raul and Dan (and Mike) travel back to 1993, and then from there back to 1976 to revisit the classic coming of age movie, "Dazed and Confused". We see a few stars in early roles and a bunch of people we would never see again as we drift through Richard Linklater's vision of 70s high school from various points of view. Listen to this, or beware Affleck's paddle!

DTW In Theaters back with another big screen entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! The DTW guys are going from strange things to strange doctors, watching TVs Sherlock Holmes match wits with TVs Hannibal Lecter. That's right, we watched Mr. Doctor! Strange! Listen to what we think and lets try to stay on topic this time, kinda!

We're back for another episode of Down to Watch TV edition! Join us for coffee and contemplation as we travel to the undergrou... err, upside down and drop a spoiler warning but then proceed to spoil just a little! Friends don't lie!

Hey y'all. Hot Fuzz was a pop culture savvy director's sophomore attempt to define and goof on love for big bombastic blowouts that gave us Johnny Utah, John John McClane and the bad boys from... err, Bad Boys. And Bad Boys 2. Did he succeed? Find out as Mike, Dan and Raul try (and fail!) to stay on topic but definitely give us their very necessary opinions on Edgar Wright's second film. YARP!

If our calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're gonna hear some serious podcast! Join Dan and Raul (and Mike, a little!) to remember this week's throwback movie, 1985's Back to the Future! Poster tagline of the week!: 17 year old Marty McFly got home early last night. 30 years early.

Listen up cuz we're about to blow up like a Rick Moranis baby! It's been a little while since Kimmy Schmidt season 2 dropped on Netflix but we bet you still remember how Frasier fancy it was. So do Jonnie, Dan, Michel and Raul, and they have ideas and opinions about it. Listen to em and then agree or yell at us!

Silent Bob: "You know, there's a million fine looking women in the world, dude. But they don't all bring you lasagna at work. Most of 'em just cheat on you." Wow, such a telling moment...I guess. Either way Dan and Raul understand and love this movie..while Michel is a little lost. Clerks: Just Because They Serve You... Doesn't Mean They Like You.
