Completely charming and fun MG fantasy

Darling is a orphaned servant in Princess Mariposa's castle who stumbles upon a closet full of magic dresses that transform her appearance into different people. The princess is wooed by several suitors, but can't seem to pick. Then Darling overhears a plot by the most favored prince to capture the princess's heart and use her to unlock the magic restraining the castle's dragons. So, with the help of the dresses, Darling assigns herself the job of saving the princess and the kingdom.

The story is exciting and well-crafted. I was tickled to see the author borrowed names of her fellow SCBWI member and put them in the story (Sarvinder!). I can't wait to see what Darling's next adventure will be.

This is a fun children's book--full of magic and mysteries. Little Darling Dimple (not her given name) rises from the under-cellar where she's been scrubbing pots and pans to become the Under-Presser and meets Princess Mariposa, whom she's dreamed of meeting--and becoming her friend instead of a servant girl with only an artichoke crate to call her own. Instead she's bullied by the other servants, especially Francesca, in her dorm room and is miserable--until she finds the magic closet, the magic dresses, and Iago, who lives under her bed... There's also a magic canary and a plot against the princess, and Darling struggles through various challenges and mistakes, but perseveres, even climbing up to the chained dragon......

I enjoyed the story, and I loved the gryphon too.

A New Classic

100 Dresses has numerous charms that will lure any young reader deep into the author's story. In particular, I loved the unique personalities of the dresses themselves, seamlessly (wink) brought to life and subsequently returned to the wardrobe. And, of course, the mouse. You can't not love the mouse. But, more than being a marvelous fairy tale of princesses and Under-pressers and dragons, 100 Dresses is a story about a girl who discovers she can be anything she wants. This book is well suited to elementary class rooms and book clubs. Don't miss it.

Great New Disney Fairies Book Series!

My 6 year old daughter is a big fan of Disney Fairies. Her favorite color is blue so her favorite fairy is Silvermist. She has been a big fan of the Pixie Hollow Tales book series and we probably have a dozen of those books. When we saw this new series, we picked up the first book as soon as we could. The first Never Girls book was great. It had a slightly lower reading level making it a better reading book for my daughter. She is good with the first series, but struggles on a few words here and there. In addition, there is a lot of consistency between the Never Girls series and the Pixie Hollow series meaning some of the terms that are unique to the Disney Fairies universe are used in both books. The consistency makes the new series a great compliment to the original. Now that we knew she loved the Never Girls series, we ordered books 2 and 3, which she finished in a matter of a few days, and pre-ordered books 4, 5 and 6. Once Never Girls #4 arrived, she finished it in a matter of days and really enjoyed it just like the previous books. We have since ordered every book in this series. Highly Recommended for your Disney Fairies fan!

Great series for young girls.

My daughter's second grade teacher got her started on these books by giving her the first one as a birthday gift. She loves the series as they are written in a child's "voice". The only draw back is that the reading level does not tend to progress as the series goes on (as some other series books do). For that reason, they aren't as challenging to her as they used to be, and she is unable to test on them at school through the Accelerated Reader Program. With that said, she still enjoys getting the new books as they are released and reads them for fun:)

I highly recommend for 2-3rd grade or advanced 1st grade readers. Cute stories, and adorable sparkly cover art.

An ignition switch to your imagination and future employment!

I love this book...the concept of it, the ease of reading, the thought that it might ignite that spark that will drive more and more people to consider space as a career destination. I was thrilled to be a part of getting it to print! I have a copy for my own children and bought an additional copy for their school library... You never know when you'll help someone find what they need to make their dreams a reality. And careers in space are definitely on the horizon.

Thoughtfully written and presented, I love what Mike Mongo has done here!

I picked up the Astronaut Instruction Manual, quite frankly, not knowing what to expect. I mean, what is an Astronaut Instruction Manual? As I read through the first few pages I began to understand what this was. It was not any simple instruction manual, nor would I consider it a typical book in the way that one might have a beginning, a middle, and an end. No, this was something special, and something different entirely. At the end of most pages I stopped and thought about what I just read. Though in the Childrenâs Astronomy section on Amazon, I found it could be enjoyed at really any age. As a 35 year old professional reading this with my wife and four and a half year old son, I found that we each got something different out of the AIM. Nevertheless, all of what we were individually exposed to in Mongoâs book was within a certain paradigm. That paradigm is one of exploration and moving forward into space.

What the Astronaut Instruction Manual does so well is to move the space conversation from statements of hope and optimism that can mistakenly rely on belief, to the certainty of preparation. In other words, sailing west for the early European mariner might be fraught with notions of falling off a flat globe or failing to find land. Mongo illustrates that to venture into space is to go somewhere we have beenâwhere we have survived and made a number of advancements. One cannot believe we will travel in space because it relies not on belief, but history; we already have traveled and even lived in space for months at a time aboard the ISS. The Astronaut Instruction Manual is a call to anyone who has looked up at the stars in wonder, and has not wanted that feeling to be a limited curiosity.

My 9-yr. old grandson (and I) love the Zombie Goldfish books and have been reading them, as they are published for about two years. They are great fun and tell a great story. Very entertaining for boys, girls and the folks who are reading to them.

My son loves these books!

My son absolutely loves these books. I have bought him the entire set that is out so far and he is anxiously awaiting the next one. I am not sure what the appeal is but I know that they have both stories and other games and things for him to play in each book. They are written at approximately a 3rd grade reading level.

Laughter encourages reading

I read this book to my son, who at the time didn't enjoy reading very much. This book is funny and showed him a new way that reading could be enjoyable. We love the characters, and Frankie is the best. The flip art on the corners is an added bonus. We look forward to reading the further adventures of Frankie, the zombie goldfish and his humans.

Very Cute

I instantly became intrested in these books after the seeing the reveal of the dolls. The dolls look simply amazing, and the sweet covers of the books look so charming. They also remind me a lot of the old comic series W.I.T.C.H., which I absolutely loved when I was younger so I could not resist grabbing this book and the 2nd one that is available.

The books are a great price, but still have really nice little details to them, for instance there's a nice little drawing of the POV character of the book in the front cover, as well as a little blurb and drawing about their "wish pendant" and "power crystal" which is a nice reference to how they look. The book pages themselves are also splashed with purple color and little stars, which is really a nice detail. The color I especially like because they're unique to each book which is just a nice little touch for such a cheap book.

Each book also includes character describtions of the 14 girls that include mini bios and their goals(wishes), which is very sweet and honestly helpful since there are 14. They also include little drawings of them, though they're not in color. Their bios include their fav color though so you can find them on the back in color.

Each book also includes a little glossary with some of their "star words", which I think is very nice and will be good for younger fans of these books that might not get context clues.

Now to the plot, I don't have much to say since I'm 22 and don't think I can give the best opinion, but I did enjoy it. The plot of course was obvious, but I also wasn't bored when reading it. I'm hoping to read it with my young cousin when I see her this winter, and I think she will love it. I also think these will make great companions to the dolls, and personally I love this trend of making books about doll lines, like the Ever After High series and such.

With an entertaining and creative concept that combines sci-fi and fairy tale, I knew I wanted to read it just as soon as I read the blurb. I may be a grown adult, but there is something wonderful about escaping with a book made for kids. It takes you to that place where you feel young and the possibility of make believe and wishes still exist. I wish I had a book like this when I was a little girl, it would have been one of my favorites.

Love This Book!

Wonderful novelization of the gorgeous masterpiece of a movie, Kubo and the Two Strings. My 10 year old daughter is CRAZY about Kubo (she's even going as him for Halloween this year!) - so this novel was a must-buy for her. She's read it happily many times and is already writing the sequel to the movie in her spare time. Ha!

He loved it!

The artwork is excellent!

I bought this for the illustrations :). What can I say? I'm an illustrator and I like pictures! Nicholas Kole is really amazing and each picture in the book is really excellent. If you like them too you should look for his blog online because I think you will get a better idea of how amazing those illustrations really are! The printing leaves a little to be desired though. The pictures are all printed slightly dark but I blame that on the paper. And, because the book is hard bound and thick the illustrations get lost in the gutter a bit. I hope Disney uses Nicholas for other stuff and I hope they feature his work better in the future!

IT SHOCKED ME TO FIND THAT IN THERE. I DON'T REMEMBER THE PIXIE SAYING THAT IN THE LIVE ACTION NOVEL. BUT, NONE THE LESS, I LIKE THEM BOTH, AND THE LIVE ACTION FILM AS WELL; I CAN REALLY RELATE TO MALEFICENT HERSELF AND I FEEL JUST LIKE HER SOMETIMES; I SEE MYSELF IN HER-(MALEFICENT). An interesting take on the Sleeping Beauty story

This is a nice keepsake to have on hand when viewing the movie or just to review it. I find this a really interesting take/twist to the story. The movie gave food for thought.

Great series for adventure lovers....

As a children's librarian who also purchases books for K-8 students, I get a first-hand look at the popularity of children's books. I've been very happy with the Voyagers series. I first added book 1 to see how it would do, and I had several requests for the second book. I ended up adding all six and so far they have been flying off the shelves. There is adventure and suspense, but it's appropriate in language and subject matter. It includes cool graphics and symbols, which will engage more reluctant readers.

The target audience so far in my experience has been boys in 5th-7th grades; highly recommend for kids who like adventure series and far parents looking for books on the "cleaner" and "kid friendly" side.

My 13 year old grandson really enjoys this series and I have preordered #6 that comes out in July.

While I feel there was so much more that could ...

While I feel there was so much more that could have been done with not only this story but the world in which its written that doesn't take away from the uniqueness of the Feral world. The only complaints i have are that the story jumped to its antagonist and crazy jaw dropping ending way to quickly it should have been drawn out over maybe two or three books to give more to the reader. I may have only given 3 stars but i do hope to see something else in this line of stories.

Harry Potter-like in many ways.

Reading this, I kept thinking about how it reminded me of Harry Potter. The plot is extremely reminiscent of that series. Just like Harry Potter, I really enjoyed this. It was impressive.
