Great new mystery series!

Think: Janet Evanovich. A light mystery that's very satisfying. But this brand-new series is about a group of women who belong to a quilting club in a small Indiana town called Caruthers Corners. And when the bust of a town founder is stolen, Maddy Madison and her friends are called on to solve the mystery like a gaggle of Miss Marples. Lots of twists and turns, a fun read. And priced at less than $2 it's very hard to pass up!

I sat down for a break from sewing and started reading the book...Absolutely NO sewing was going on till the book was finished! It was a very long break!

I LOVED the characters and the story is such Fun...

The Underhanded Stitch: A Quilters Club Mystery No. 1

Well written, fun characters with realistic dialogue. I enjoyed reading it, although the mystery itself wasn't very dramatic. But the group of people trying to solve the mystery was cohesive, they all had each other's back pretty much, and I appreciate it when stories include friendship bonds that strengthen as the pages turn. All in all, I would recommend this book, and I look forward to reading other stories by Marjory Sorrell Rockwell.

Interesting

Easy read. Kept me involved with the characters. Historically believeable. Good development of the plot. I like quilting mysteries. Would like to see a little more about quilting.

First Quilters Club Mystery a hit.

This was the first book I read on my new Kindle app on my desktop computer. I think I will enjoy this new way to read since I have a large screen monitor and the print is very legible. I have a Kindle Fire, but it gets heavy to hold since I have advanced arthritis in my hands. The hands-free reading in large print is great for older readers. I enjoyed the quilt book and will probably read more of the Quilters Club Mysteries. It is nice to get started with No. 2.

The narrator of this series is great. I enjoyed this second book in the series.

The second in the Hope Street Church series finds Cooper Lee and her Bible Study group volunteering to deliver meals each Saturday to senior citizens . . . and doing odd jobs in their homes, pairing up in teams, visiting them, feeding both their bellies and their souls . . . but the first day on the job, one of the clients is found dead, sitting in a chair . . . at first it is thought to be of natural causes, but when it happens a second time, foul play is more certain . . . and items are missing from the homes of the deceased . . . the only visitors have been the Door to Door Charity Volunteers . . . who could have done such an evil deed? when Cooper and her boyfriend, Nathan begin to suspect the murderer is one of the volunteers, they organize a get together so everyone can interview them on the sly . . . but none of them seem capable of killing the senior citizens . . . nor of robbing them of their treasures . . . This is the second in the Hope Street Church series. I have already read these books in Kindle version (written as Jennifer Stanley), and I really enjoyed them. This installment lets you get to know the main characters even better. They are people in a bible study group who are trying to do good, but are also human and have flaws. I could be friends with most of them. I'm so glad this series is being released in audio, and I have already pre-ordered the next in the series.

A great second installment!

If you've read Ellery Adams "books by the bay" mysteries then you will notice a lot of similarities. This is like a junior version of that series, in that you can tell Ellery improved her character development with her newer series. However, this is still really well written, honest, engrossing & has a well narrated ensemble that I enjoyed. Cooper is a real character who I found myself relating to. She makes no qualms about the fact that she isn't a detective, and I love the honesty of the whole story.

I Love Mattie

This is one of my favorite series. Mattie is funny, intelligent and realistic. I love her relationship with Hurley and the other supporting characters. The mystery was well written and very clever. The worst thing about this book is that it's over and I have to wait for another book to be published.

This book explores several interesting topics. Dom's secret wish, mean girls, single mother turmol, the importance of commication and ferious love for family. Sounds vague and cheesy but i dont want to spoil anything. Good "road read" for family with teens.

Another good book

Sofie Ryan has created a really nice town with very nice characters and a little murder. I enjoy the characters and how they relate to each other. The mystery is handled well and in a realistic manner. I look forward to the next book.

Clothing

As much as I enjoy these books,do we have to have the endless descriptions of hair,makeup and clothing. It adds nothing to the story. Sure glad I have a skip button on my I pod.

Love this series

Quickly becoming a favorite. Wonderful characters, good plot and mysteries... and Elvis the hero kitty. Love him!

A fun cozy series!

I liked both the writing and the narrator of this book. I saw this series some time ago and thought it would be too cheezy, to tell the truth, but the writing is crisp. the plot fleshed out and the cat adorable.

Sofie Ryan writes an interesting tale.

Charlie's Angels Rock

While store owner Sarah is the main character in this series, I love "Charlie's Angels", a group of eccentric senior citizens who love to solve crimes. The author does an amazing job of mixing mystery, humor and small town drama into an engaging story.

Loved it

This series is great you can't help but to keep reading. I was captivated from the start and to the finish so much to the point that I had to gothe beginning of the series to get the full benefit of the book. I love the lack of fear in Carl Logan and how he managed to get out of it. Want to know what happened to Ms FBI to see what really happened is she alive or not. Left me wanting more. Received in advance from Net Galley in exchange for honest review.

Who's the Enemy?

After reading the (first) three books in the Enemy Series, I still haven't figured out who the Enemy is. Perhaps it doesn't much matter--the whole premise is that it is the protagonist against virtually everyone else. I did enjoy consuming this trilogy, but I'm not compelled to return to it and I don't really care if the series continues.

Good trilogy

This is the last book of the Trilogy. Generally I enjoyed all three books. Sometimes I wondered what direction things were leading, sometimes I was surprised and, mostly, I just couldn't turn it off. Paul Thornley is my favourite narrator and he just seems to present books in a manner I like. Do start at the beginning ... it is a very good place to start !! I'll wait for another episode and I am sure it'll be a good 'read' !

I Love This Series!

I love this series and am looking forward to the next books. The only complaint I have about this book - and I don't know if it's the book or the reader - is HYPOTHERMIA! Hypothermia is when the body gets too cold. What is meant in the context of this book is HYPERthermia. I drove my husband crazy by yelling HYPERTHERMIA! at what must have seemed to him to be random intervals. Otherwise, great story, great series. Keep them coming!

Disappointing!

Not up to the standards of the previous entries in this series. Rather a disappointment. Entirely too splintered a plot line with little continuity. Hopefully the next book will be back to the level we have come to expect.

loved this story

A story about vintage cookware, recipes and murder makes an appealing and fun read. The reader is REALLY good.

Almost too disappointing for words

As a born Michigander (NOT "Michiganian"), who grew up with close connections to Canada, the first two books in the series were homey and fun. The third became less logical, but was still OK. This one went off the rails. So much of the dialog sounded hysterical and there were no reasons for much of what Jaimie did. As she runs for her life from a murderer, she has time to think about the dreamy eyes of her would-be rescuer. Oh my! Then when I heard "So to the root cellar they must go," I lost patience with the book. I listened to it, so I won't return it, but this book sounded more like fan fiction to me than one written by the original author. I'm done with the series.

A unique and creative mystery set in South Africa

Tannie Maria has been writing a cooking column for the local newspaper in rural South Africa when the owners announce that The Gazette needs an advice column, but the only way to fit that in to us for pages is to eliminate Tannie Marias recipe column in Recipes for Love and Murder by Sally Andrew. Tannie (a term of respect) Maria solves the problem by combining the advice with recipes that will help the reader deal with the problem.

One of the first letters to arrive is from a woman being abused by her husband, who broke her arm and shot the ducks given to the anonymous woman by her dearest female friend. Tannie Maria becomes invested in this case, though she doesnt know the identity of the woman or her friend, who also has written, wanting to know how long she would have to spend in prison if she kills the abusive husband in self-defense. The case also dredges up Marias own history with her own late husband, who abused her badly during his life. Unable to get up the courage to leave her husband, Tannie Maria is determined to prevent any other woman from having to suffer her own fate.

Then one day the newspaper gets notice that a police car and ambulance are on the way to a home, and it doesnt take long for Tannie Maria to spot the feathers of a white duck in the pond. This is the home of her correspondent, and the woman, now identified as Martine, is dead. If this isnt bad enough, her dear friend, Anna, gets charged for the crime. Tannie Maria gets involved in trying to solve the mystery, all the while finding her niche as an advice columnist who uses recipes to help people get help.

This book is very creatively written, with a great flavor of South Africa and a unique take on a murder mystery. The touches of recipes add in well to the story, in a unique method different than most culinary mysteries.

Can be read as a stand alone

What did you like best about Look Both Ways? What did you like least?

An inoffensive light cozy set in Salem; so it obviously needs the obligatory cat with human intelligence; actually more of a supernatural intelligence. There is the obligatory love interest which was nicely done. This is the third book in the series though I read it first.

a fun read

I accidentally started with the third book however it works well enough as a stand alone. It's a little over detailed and repetitive of some points, but otherwise an enjoyable cozy mystery. I'm definitely getting more in this series.

What happened to the narrator

I have enjoyed all of the other books in this series but it seems the narrator has changed how they preform. The pattern of the speech was way off resulting in a awful listening experience. I had to speed it up just to get through this. Really ruined this book for me.

I really enjoy her narration, and feel the characters come alive while I am listening.
