    Could Have Been Better
Didn't care for the story line as much as the others. Took a little longer to get through it. So, So
    love this series!
Jessica Fletcher is my favorite character! Every book is intriguing and comforting and provides a new twist! This story was no different, but it DOES explain why she started calling Mort, Mortimer. (I saw someone else's comment on another book about her referencing him that way and this explains it all.)
    Delightful Murder She Wrote Tale
What did you like best about this story?
The mystery plot and the Thanksgiving timeline make for an interesting listen. Sandra Burr goes an exceptional job narrating.
    One oops
I've been listening to quite a few of these books in a row. In a recent book Jessica called Sheriff Metzger Mortimer throughout the book. As this became a kind of 'code' in this one it is disappointing. Different real authors writing these? Or at least a copy editor who doesn't know the series.
    Pretty Good! Enjoyed :-)
The 1st book I reviewed was the 1st I'd read in this series and it had a different narrator, which, I didn't enjoy so that left a lot to be desired. This narrator was MUCH better, which is such a big part of whether or not I enjoy any audible book. BECAUSE the narrator was better at changing voices, she DID NOT use "he said, I said, she said", much at all, which was tedious/aggravating (?) in the only other of this series I read, "The Main Mutiny" and I mentioned in my last review.
I do plan to go on to the next in the series. I sure wish I were able to get the books from book #1 but unfortunately, they're not available at present
I suppose one of the reasons I didn't rate this book 5 stars all the way across is because I enjoy the TV series more but this is a good read and though, not one I couldn't put down, I didn't mind picking it back up either!
A good, easy read, cozy mystery... clean and comfortable.
Oh, one other thing, I and one other person I know, prefer to read those that take place in Jessica's hometown of Cabot Cove. Being these are not more or less continued but rather, stand on their own, you can pick and choose which you'd like to read next.
    Hope you enjoy!!

The women are soon hot on the trail of the stolen money, but Rose is caught off guard when Neely Kate's snoopiness detects the biggest complication of all: Rose might be expecting a baby of her own.

    Another great read.
Rose and other characters are great. Can't wait to read the next book. Fast paced.
    Complications indeed
If there is trouble within a 50 mile radius ... It always finds Rose. A twist on my emotions and unexpected conclusion. Can't wait for the next one.
    love this books
they just are not the same with the new narrator reading but I'm starting to get used to her. the "twang" isn't as good the book however is beautifully written. She just gets better and better
A little off from last one
More drama, with personal lives, not a lot of drama with the suspense! It was decent.
Thirty Two and a Half Complications
Absolutely brilliant!! So addictive. Denise Grover Swank has the ability to keep you captivated from start to finish and brings the characters to life in such a way you feel they live and breath.
I'm on my second round of the Rose Gardener book waiting for the next book to be released.

    Release date: 03-24-15
    Publisher: Recorded Books

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
A stunning serial-killer novel from David Levien, featuring his acclaimed and indomitable investigator, Frank Behr.... This is the bigger thriller we've been wanting from Levien.
A young woman's body is found on a side street in Indianapolis, horrifyingly arranged. Meanwhile Frank Behr, who is down on his luck and virtually broke, takes on a no-win case to locate a single mother's wayward daughter who's been missing for months. Suddenly Behr feels the two cases may be connected, but he is years removed from his life as a legitimate police officer and has few friends left on the force. His relentless focus has always been his greatest strength...and his deepest flaw.
As the death toll rises, it becomes clear Indianapolis has a serial killer in its midst...an invisible average Joe who passes beneath the radar but commits unspeakable acts. Frank Behr's pursuit will lead him to a dark place - and ultimately to a devastating decision from which he will not be able to turn back.
Signature Kill is David Levien's most masterful novel yet - an audiobook that will attract attention from a wider group of thriller fans.

Story is too authentic at times...narration is BAD
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have a Criminal Justice degree and watch all the true crime shows I can. I have read extensively on many serial killers and what acts they have committed. That being said my stomach was turned a few times in this book and I don't think the scenes were necessary for the story. Yes we know that killers start with small animals... I DON'T need to hear those kinds of acts explicitly described in a leisure book. I am an animal lover and could've handled the general commentary of animal torture but to tell me how, and why and how long the specific type of torture continued was despicable on the part of the author. Wire hangers and fireworks aren't necessary for story movement.
Based on that, no I would not recommend this book.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
It didn't really keep me on the edge of my seat. I finished the book because I always do but the story ending was so ludicrous that I do not believe it at all as a possible outcome. I won't be picking up any of the other books in this series either.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Scott Brick?
You know, he might have been ok as the narrator if he hadn't over acted every chapter that was in the criminals voice. My impression of the perpetrator was a strong, confident man and the voice used was of a shy, timid and scared, slightly high and not in touch with reality. Of course the criminal isn't in touch with reality completely but this man was holding up a marriage and a job and so wasn't as 'out of his mind' as the narrator made him sound.
    Any additional comments?
I listened to this book based on other customer reviews. I hope my review helps others to not be surprised by what they end up hearing compared to the reviews.
Murder inc. with feeling, feeling, and more fe....
What did you love best about Signature Kill?
Where to start, David Levien does not pull any punches in his descriptions very graphic, bold, and without apology.

    Lots of fun
Good story! Not deep or disturbing, just entertaining. Enjoyed the narrator - good job. I would recommend this to light mystery lovers.
Superb writing and a fantastic narrator
I love a good cozy mystery, and am always on the look out for a new one. When I saw this over at Audiobook Jukebox and listened to the sample from Audible, I just knew it was for me.
Andy Buckland went from top of the world, rising star in the cooking community to pariah in just one short hour. While filming the introduction to her break out cooking show, the crowd got food poisoning from bad clams. Suddenly, her entire career was over and every thing she had worked and sacrificed for was over. So when her Grandfather and Aunt needed help with the family's Pasta Shop, Andy had no reason to say no. And it seems that her bad luck continues when on the drive into town, she gets into an accident and totals her classic mustang, Mustang Sally. Then, her first big job at the pasta shop involves catering the engagement party of her old high school boyfriend to her biggest adversary. On the plus side, she does meet the handsome and mysterious Malcolm Jones, who manages to sweet talker her cranky maiden Italian Aunt Cecelia.
The narrator, Suzanne Cerreta does a fantastic job on this. Andy has this sweet southern drawl, while Malcolm has a New Zealand accent. Throw in Aunt Cecelia's Italian accent and I was impressed at how quickly and easily she was able to switch from character to character.
The writing was superb for this book. Andy takes us through a wide range of emotions as she deals with being back in her home town after the sudden and very public death of her career and trying to save her family's pasta shop, The Bowtie Angel. I laughed out loud and giggled at some of the situations Andy ended up in. This was a great read and I can't wait for book 2. I am giving this 4 stars.
Thanks to Audiobook Jukebox and the author for the opportunity to listen and review the book.
    Love this!
This story had me hooked from the beginning. Love the characters. Story flows easily has love, suspense, and humor.

    very enjoyable
really enjoyed this start to a new cozy. This narrator always sounds like she has serious sinus problems but that didn't get in the way of my listening. plot was interesting and a bit different. really liked that Katie didn't get everything she wanted. wasn't your typical happily ever after.
    Acceptable Cosy
Writing was ok - nothing glaringly off, but the main character never felt fully explored. Reader was ok - though it sounded like she had a cold through the entire book. And there were some really rough edits where the sound was jarringly different. Overall, not a compelling listen but an easy one - which might suit if you are in that kind of mood.
    So-so
I believe another listener commented that the narrator sounded as though she had a cold. I would have to agree with that. It seemed sometimes her voice was also too soft. The story was okay, though it felt a little forced in places. I like cozy mysteries, know I can depend on not being upset by slaughter and grisly scenes. Some, like any other kind of genre, work better than others.
This one is the story of a young widow who inherits an arts and crafts (for sale) related establishment, that had been going downhill until she got it. She has to discover who killed the man who had owned it, as well as find ways to make it financially solvent going forward. I enjoyed the character descriptions, they were the best parts. But the book moved at a somewhat uneven pace, and I often found myself rewinding parts, because my mind had wandered. I can see that this is a series that might be better as it takes off in more books. Guess I'd give it kind of a wavy-hand. Would like to hear it read with a more spirited narrator, that would probably make some difference.
    Terrible narrator
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I'm not sure. I am currently only in chapter 2 and having a VERY hard time getting into the book with this horrible narrator. She drags out every single syllable in a word. No one actually speaks that way and it's very hard to listen to.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
    Get a different narrator.
How could the performance have been better?
Use a different narrator or at least have this one speak in a normal way. She drags out every syllable and it's awful!
A Good Start to a New Series
This is a realistic mystery with realistic characters. Katie Bonner is a likeable character and I look forward to reading more about her.

Good and bad book and listen..
OMG! Did we have to go through the revolting, disgusting, gross, description of the floater that was found in the river? I just kept swiping the pages of my iPad to get away from it and the description kept showing up. If you have a weak stomach you wont like that part. You might want to skip the first few pages of chapter 11.
As interesting as this story was I dont think I could read anything else by this author. Spiders, scorpions, poisonous snakes, fire ants and cockroaches. Now, I like stories about killers but I draw the line at one disgusting bug, arachnid, or whatever, after another. Stab him, shoot him, strangle him, whatever, but bugs and other creepy things crawling all over just gives me the creeps. Jeez, Maggie had 12 scorpion stings all over her. Yuck! One corpse had been laid out on a mountain of fire ants. One corpse had a mouthful of cockroaches. Good grief! I was having a hard time finishing this book.
Then came the end, when all those bad guys came after Ryder. That part was soooo good. When he put all his dogs to work. And only 1 shot was fired. It was really good. But not good enough to get over all those bugs and things. From about 80% on it was a really good book.
There was no romance in this book and only a little bit of swearing.
As to the narrator: He was perfect with the voices, both the males and the females but there were no emotions at all. However, I would still listen to Graham Winton again because each and every voice was different, and that takes talent.
    Ok - Not for me
This was just ok. I like the relationship Creed had with all his dogs. He truly understood them. Creed was a man who was still suffering his demons about the war. The dog were strays who suffered some trauma. Creed was able to ease the tormented dogs and in turn they helped Creek stay connected with his humanity. There was a strong sense of loyalty between Creed and his dogs.
I enjoyed listening to Creed and Grace when they were working. Grace is this cute little Russell Terrier with a high intelligence and an excellent tracker. The author was able to give the dogs such personalities that was true to their breeds.

It seems like a wonderfully whimsical way to pass the hat, and Scarlett and Viv are delighted to outfit the Grisby family, the hosts who are hoping to raise enough money to name a new hospital wing after their patriarch.
Unfortunately, the Grisby heir will not live to see it-he's been poisoned. When traces of the poison are found on the hat that Scarlett and Viv made for him, the police become curiouser and curiouser about their involvement. Critic Reviews:
"Cozy fans will eagerly await Hat Shop #3." (Publishers Weekly)
    Members Reviews:
An Alice in Wonderland hat party
Scarlett Parker and Vivian have kept their hat shop going for two months since the first book, Cloche and Dagger when the wealthy Grisby family walks in to get hats made for their Alice in Wonderland party in Death of a Mad Hatter. The family has recently lost the patriarch, Jeffery, who left his family 30 years earlier to live with his mistress in Italy, leaving a son and three daughters and a wife who has never been right in her mind since being abandoned by her husband. In fact, Dottie thinks that Vivian is really Vivian's grandmother, Dottie's friend. Most of the family is unhappy because Jeffery left his entire estate to his only son, Jeffery Jr. But then at the party, Kara Whittles, the mistress of Jeffery Sr., shows up yelling that the family is trying to steal her property, since everything that she had owned with the elder Jeffery has been left to the younger Jeffrey. Shortly after the police deal with Kara, Scarlett finds the body of the younger Jeffery.
Scarlett, ever nosy, gets involved in the case, particularly befriending Tina, the widow of the younger Jeffery. Scarlett earlier overheard Jeffery berating Tina for not getting pregnant (as if infertility is all the woman's fault!) and giving him a male heir, making her want to help the woman. But when Scarlett and Vivian go to the Savoy to see the Grisby family, the whole family erupts in drama, especially when Tina makes the announcement that she is pregnant, which, if she has a boy, will change the family heir to the new baby.
In the meantime, Scarlett gets pressure from her circle of friends to avoid the Grisby family, ultimately leading to Harrison, the hat shop's business manager and the man with whom Scarlett has a developing romantic relationship, to forbid her to go near that family. That creates a major blow-up that sets Andre and Nick, their gay friends who live down the street, all abuzz. But when they make up, Scarlett finds it hard to keep her personal goal not to date for a full year because of her growing, and potential mutual, attraction to Harrison.
This book was a big improvement over the previous. I didn't care for Cloche and Daggers much, but Death of a Mad Hatter made up for that disappointment. The Jenn McKinlay I have come to love in her Library series and Fairy Tale Cupcake series, has come back.

    Publisher's Summary:
The body of 92-two-year-old Jossi Goldberg, Holocaust survivor and American citizen, is found shot to death, execution style, in his house near Frankfurt. A five-digit number is scrawled in blood at the murder scene. The autopsy reveals an old and unsuccessfully covered tattoo on the corpse's arm - a blood type marker once used by Hitler's SS. Pia Kirchhoff and Oliver von Bodenstein are faced with a riddle. Was the old man not Jewish after all? Who was he, really?
Two more, similar murders happen - one a wheelchair-bound old lady in a nursing home, the other a man with a cellar filled with Nazi paraphernalia - and slowly the connection between the victims becomes evident: all of them were lifelong friends with Vera Kaltensee, baroness, well-respected philanthropist, and head of an old, rich family that she rules with an iron fist. Pia and Oliver follow the trail, which leads them all the way back to the end of World War II and the area of Poland that then belonged to East Prussia. No one is who they claim to be, and things only begin to make sense when the two investigators realize what the bloody number stands for - and uncover an old diary and an eyewitness who is finally willing to come forward.
The Ice Queen, prequel to the best seller Snow White Must Die, is a character- and plot-driven mystery about revenge, power, and secrets long forgotten, secrets from a time in German history that still affects the present.

Hackneyed plot with too many characters for Audio
The basis for this book is one of the most hackneyed postwar plots in modern literature. The book itself does not lend itself to an audio treatment as there are so many characters with such confusing back-stories that a searchable E book would be better. In edition to the unoriginal central plot he author has thrown in gratuitous cliches, seemingly at random.
    I QUIT!
Would you try another book from Nele Neuhaus and/or Robert Fass?
Maybe, depends on the narration. This was so bad...adolescent!
Has The Ice Queen turned you off from other books in this genre?
    No way!
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Sounded like it was narration for kids. Terrible directing.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Story sounded interesting but couldn't stand narration...so I dropped it. Very rare for me to do this.
    Any additional comments?
Not very well written...lacked credibility...depth or sensible development. Didn't sound or seem very German in character, colloquiallisms, etc.
I did not quit, but I should have!
I really liked Snow White Must Die, the first novel in Nele Neuhaus' Bodenstein & Kirchhoff detective series. In The Ice Queen she (the author) has far, far too many significant characters for audio, or for any format. The suspense mystery murder plot is quite good but the number of significant characters ruined this novel for me. The translator from German to English may be part of the problem. On the other hand narrator Robert Fass does an exceptionally good job.
The Ice Queen caused me a lot of frustration so I recommend against purchasing it.
Good but not my favorite by this author
I really like the police characters. One complaint is that there are way too many names and relationships to keep straight unless you make a list as you're listening. Doesn't help that the names are in German and locales are in Poland and Germany.

Dana decides to use her investigative skills to piece together her past and learns of the event that made her become a reporter in the first place: the disappearance of her best friend, Casey Grant, the summer after high school graduation. Looking at her past and the unsolved mystery through the dark filter of PTSD, old friends seem to be suspects, authority figures part of a cover-up. Dana begins to question everything she knows. What is real? What is imagined? Are we defined by what happens to us? And is the truth really something too terrible to be believed?

    Good story
This was a good story. I wish there was more details about her attacker in the beginning as it didn't focus much on his story or what happened, but all in all it kept you on your toes.

He meets women. He gains their trust. He kills them. That's all London police detective Maeve Kerrigan knows about the man she is hunting. Three women have been strangled in their homes, and it appears to be the work of the same sadistic killer. With no sign of break-ins, every indication shows that the women let their attacker in willingly. The victims' neighbors and friends don't seem to remember anything unusual or suspicious, and Maeve is almost at a loss about how to move forward with the investigation. Then the evidence starts to point to a shocking suspect: DCI Josh Derwent, Maeve's partner on the police force. Maeve refuses to believe he could be involved, but how well does she really know him? Secrets Derwent has long kept locked away are coming back to haunt him, and the more Maeve learns about her partner's past, the more difficult it is to dismiss him as a suspect. After all, this is hardly the first time Derwent's been accused of murder.
Jane Casey returns with her most outstanding novel yet in The Stranger You Know, a taut thriller and an intimate portrayal of complicated, all-too-human characters.

Casey Is Getting Better and Better
The beginning of this book is the 20 year old cold case of the first girlfriend of DC Maeve Kerrigan's obnoxious superior,DI Josh Derwent. Maeve is a character I know well from the previous three books, but Josh is given an interesting background. These characters are all wonderfully tough and interesting. I wouldn't want to work with them but I certainly enjoy reading about them.
Two women have been murdered in their apartments. There were similarities between the murders which suggested that one man was involved, a man that they voluntarily allowed into their homes. Maeve becomes involved into the investigation into the murders, trapped between her charismatic, brilliant boss, the surprisingly sympathetic (at times) Dewent and the abrasive female DI, who is Dewent's senior.
I was almost becoming afraid that Audible was not picking up this type of police procedural, so it was with relief that I found myself so wrapped up in listening to this one. It did not keep me up all night, but I did become annoyed when I had to shut my audio off and attend to someone else.
High marks for the narrator as well. All in all an enjoyable package for those who enjoy a bit of grit with their suspense.
    My Favorite Detective Series!!
I love the plot, the characters and the incredibly clever humor of this novel and the rest of the series!
Great book in a series that has become a favorite!
What did you love best about The Stranger You Know?
The key to enjoying the DC Maeve Kerrigan series is to read them in order. I find it helpful to know where each book belongs in a series so here goes: The Stranger You Know is the 4th in series. 1. The Burning; 2. The Reckoning; 3.The Last Girl; 4. The Stranger You Know; 5. The Kill; 6. After the Fire (not yet available on Audible). There is a short "novella" meant as a prequel that can be read at any time in my opinion- I read it after The Burning. The characters have grown on me! The narrator becomes less annoying each time, I promise.
What did you like best about this story?
The plot was interesting, as always in the series.
